Welcome to Candy Shoppe Yarns!
My mission is to bring joy to the world with products that bring you back to your carefree and happy childhood days.
My name is Deborah, I am a lifelong maker, baker and beautiful things creator. I have dabbled, or sunk my teeth into just about every type of creative form there is from clay miniatures, paper crafts, sewing, digital art, handmade dolls and wedding cakes, to playful colorwork patterns for handknit socks. My desire is to create beauty and value in the world.
I love a good theme and draw inspiration from the early 1900’s and imagine my store as a candy shop along a seaside boardwalk amusement park in the 1920’s with the band organ playing lighthearted music on the carousel nearby and sounds of laughter ringing through the air .
Join me for videos about my yarns, my makes, and fun!

It’s always so much fun too watch your show. I really love the granny square cardigan. Cropped would be flattering. I love your Lisa, Frank pink yarn! Do you have fingering weight pastel neons in your shop? I have been looking everywhere. The only place I can find pastel neons is in the UK. I would love to order some from you. I am working on a large Battenberg blanket. It’s a easy and simple pattern. Evidently that’s about all I can handle right now.😂 I hope you have a great week!
Love the Granny Squares.. everything looks lovely.. all the colors of the yarn is beautiful as always..
Your granny squares are so pretty.
hi i always enjoy watching you
@@user-il9cv2zw4l thank you so much!
Love my retro rewind and can't wait to get my July postcard minis in a couple weeks.
I have made the Celeste Young pattern. I always finish with a reverse single crochet to have the points lay flat. I enjoy your podcasts very much. Thank you.
That blouse is so so so so cute! I love everything about this episode!
great content! new follower.
💜💜💜
Thank you Deborah for a beautiful episode, I love all your makes and your yarn is always stunning! Wow, those Crossbody purses came out so good. I seem to be in a Crochet mood myself, I’m current making my first granny square blanket for my daughter. I love making granny squares but connecting them is a different ballgame. I also, recently had to go down to size 0 for my socks, because of my loose gauge. Last year, I tried to replace my heel flap and gusset heel for the shadow wrap heel but unfortunately, it did not fit my foot as well, so it’s back to the dreaded gusset 😢 I hope your Lyme disease heals quickly and that you regain your health. ❤
I didn't mind connecting the granny squares when making the bags, but there are only four so that's why. That's also very interesting that you also went down to a size 0 needle, AND you switched to a shadow wrap short row heel. Fingers crossed they fit me. I'm sorry they didn't work for you.
hi i enjoyed watching you hope you get better
Thank you so much for the encouragement!
Ok, now I’m considering making a star blanket with the very beautiful Caron cakes you gave me for Christmas!!! Love seeing your beautiful projects and shop updates. So inspiring! And. And wait to see your granny square cardigan!!! I want one of this too. (Maybe)
I was just thinking the same thing about the matching cakes I bought.
Great episode! I started working on a crossbody bag while watching! Take it easy and take care of yourself-my SIL died of complications from Lyme disease last year-that disease is no joke. You’ve got this!
Thank you so much for your comment. It has me in tears because 1- how horribly tragic that our SIL passed away, I'm so very sorry. 2- it is very validating to have someone who understands just how serious and difficult Lyme Disease is. I typically get the casual brush off like it's not that big of a deal. Thank you for the encouragement!
Deborah love your KZread. Your granny square crossbody bags are adorable. How big did your make your granny squares? In think I might attempt to make a bag. Thanks Julie
Hi Julie! I don't remember the measurement, but one of the bags I made with 6 rounds, and the rest with 7.
@@candyshoppeyarns thanks so much
yay - crochet! Lovely episode, and great to see all the yummy yarns in your shop. Hope you have a good week x
Thank you! You too!
Glad you had a nice vacay! I was on pinterest probably from it's inception and my first board was called "summer crochet" it must be a thing!
Love all your crochet, Deborah! Thanks for sharing. Hugs from Deep South Texas. ❤
The parcel has arrived, Yay! 🎉 I'm so glad you like all the colours, I had such fun wrapping it all up for you (although I did get chocolate cravings afterwards 🤔😄). I love the different colour combinations you chose for each of your wonderful crossbody bags. The plastic chain is very cute. I've added a crossbody bag to my list! Your idea to make the granny square centre's yarn tail really secure raises a good point. My grandmother taught me to just leave the tail hanging 😨, yeah, that so does not go well. Just want to say how much I always enjoy the backgrounds you choose to record in front of ... sooooo yummy 🌈. And thank you for the mention Deborah 🥰💖 Enjoy that granny fun!
The cowl fgrom your friend is stunning and a perfect shape and size. I googled but didn’t find it. Booh, gorgeous. Great podcast.
I just found it and linked it in the show notes.
The cowl that someone gave you. What was the name of it. I am looking to make one just like that.
I asked her and this was her response: “I used the Xena cattle pattern, from Hilary Smith Callis. It is modified a little bit; the original pattern calls for texture in between the purl ridges. I modified it because I just love stockinette. 😁”
Hi Debra, do you have the pattern name of the cowl that your friend knit you? It is absolutely stunning! I would like to buy the pattern if I just know what it is called.
I just spoke with her and this was her reply: “I used the Xena cattle pattern, from Hilary Smith Callis. It is modified a little bit; the original pattern calls for texture in between the purl ridges. I modified it because I just love stockinette. 😁” I hope you're doing well!
@@candyshoppeyarns Thank you!
What a wonderful way to spend a day with your sister! I love it! My sister and I would definitely enjoy a day like that with me knitting, while we both laugh & talk. Nope she's not a knitter or crocheter 😄 Beautiful minis! I am currently making the Candy Floss socks!! Glad you are getting better!
I hope you can see if you could make this happen with your sister. So much fun! And I love the Candy Floss Socks, I use that cuff pattern all the time for many of my socks.
Just knit Emily’s new Rainbow Bridge Shawl with your Lemonade Stand minis. Totally LOVE how it turned out.
I saw that! My goodness, it’s so pretty!🤩
Hi Deborah, I would love the link to the vinyl bag as well. Thanks
No problem! I have added it to the show notes. 👍
We went to a 10:00 am showing of Planet of the Apes. Our theater had warm donuts holes with dipping ifrosting. Fun breakfast at the movie!
That sounds amazing! I think we are on to something here.
Hi Deborah can you post the link for the hot pink vinyl bag? I NEED one of those in my life.
Oh, I missed that, thanks for catching it! I just added it to the show notes. 👍
Such big give aways
I want to know how to add music to my videos. It must be easy but I cant find how to it on my phone.
I use my computer to edit videos. Sometimes I use Adobe Premiere Pro and sometimes I use iMovie. If you have an iPhone, you can use the iMovie app. After starting to create your video there is a plus (+) button that takes you to a media where you can add audio. I pay for a subscription service that allows me to use various audio tracks royalty free on my videos so I don’t have copyright issues.
Glad to e see you back Deborah. Will you be dying old fashioned horehound again? Thanks Julie
Hi Julie! I can always dye custom requests. Send me a message through Etsy and we can chat about what base and the quality you need.
@@candyshoppeyarns Deborah thanks so much. I’m actually such a dork. I was looking all over for my old-fashioned horehound and I found a small skein I thought was it, but it only look like 50 g that I looked in my sock drawer and realized I had already knit that yarn into socks. So I’m actually good.🤪🤣
Beautiful yarn as always! Praying for you ❤
I am a new subscriber from Georgia, and I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your video! It was so beautiful and your yarn color ways are amazing. I loved your projects too. I am sorry that you have been dealing with some health struggles. I am 61 years old and when I was about your age I broke several vertebrae in my spine and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I know what it is like to be in the middle of my prime, just starting to see my dreams come to fruition and then be struck down by chronic pain and fatigue. But I just want to reassure you that there will be brighter days ahead and although you may not gain back all of your strength and stamina, if you keep focused on living your best life, there will be so many good days and good moments ahead! I truly wish you all the best and am so glad to hear that you have people in your life who are willing to help you. That means so much. Have a wonderful time at your fiber event! :)
Thank you so much for your perspective and encouragement. I’m so sorry for the really difficult times you have been through. It’s helpful to have a great supportive community here and in person. ❤️
I would love to get your Advent sometime. Money is tight so when I've purchased an Advent I have used it. I did purchase the Arkansas Yarn Co Advent for this year, I begged her to do a Wonka Advent and was so happy she is. I can't wait!
What a fun Advent!
You look fabulous. Your skin has a glow! Sending ❤️❤️and more ❤️
Awe, thank you so much. 🌸
It was a joy to watch! Your hair and outfit looks beautiful today. I hope you will return to full health very soon❤ I think that a lot of people are struggling the same way that we are too old to be young too young to be old.
Thank you! Yes, I know that I am not alone in this situation. We should all band together for support.🩷
I hope your energy and health return soon! ❤
Thank you Amy!
Mermaid Avenue Socks by Summer Lee are great to knit!
Yes that is a fun pattern. I think she’s mentioned that she is planning to rework that pattern. I tried knitting it before but it was too tight. I’d like to try again.
Hi Deborah. Thank you for your podcast. 😊
How making a kal for Barbie knit or crochet clothes? Using minis
What a fun idea!
The Lisa Frank cowl is spot on!!!! Did you make your beautiful blouse? If you did, I would like to know the pattern name. This is my year to sew summer tops.
No, I did not make my top, but thank you!
Deborah , ❤ your projects, and your mini skeins with the postcard inspiration! I was just talking to my friend about this topic! 🐑 I see now being older, why people say those were the good old days! I hope your health improves and your energy! 😊
Deborah! Barbie, Golden Girls, ...and "Blush and Bashful"! You're hittin' my nostalgia heart deep! I wish nothing but the absolute best for you at the fiber festival!
You do amazing work. The colors are the best. You nailed the Lisa Frank cowl. I always look forward to your videos! Thank you
I added some short rows to the back of my Stash Dive Raglan because I don't enjoy wearing sweaters that have the same back and front. I also prefer to knit top down, so the pattern has been just a general reference and inspiration for mine. I'm really enjoying making it.
I think that both of these tips are very helpful. Thanks!
Love love love! I'm so sad about your beautiful blouse!😢
