    00:01 Wealth is the accumulation of assets that generate income 02:13 Wealth is about having businesses and assets that earn while you sleep and provides freedom. 05:55 There is a competition between status and wealth in society. 07:51 True wealth creation is about creating abundance, not taking from others. 11:52 Playing the game of wealth creation is necessary for a comfortable life and progress. 13:45 Creating wealth is essential for survival and requires ethical practices. 17:33 Creating wealth is a slow and steady process of consistently building businesses, seizing opportunities, and making investments. 19:13 Opportunities to create wealth are abundant thanks to the Internet 22:54 To get rich, you need to be eccentric and willing to dig deeper than others 24:50 Working a salary job limits your earning potential and does not lead to true wealth. 28:06 Using tools and leveraging creativity are key to creating wealth. 29:46 To get rich, it is important to avoid upgrading your lifestyle as your income increases. 33:16 Entrepreneurship is about creating something new and scaling it profitably. 35:01 The internet allows niche obsessions to reach a global audience. 38:16 Be authentic and escape competition through authenticity 39:58 To be successful, you need to work with other people and build long-term trust. 43:03 Compound interest is key to success in wealth, relationships, and knowledge. 44:43 Choose someone smart, high energy, and with high integrity for success. 47:47 Self-esteem is a reputation that you have with yourself. 49:31 To be successful in life and create wealth, you need a rational optimistic mindset. 52:48 Optimism and education lead to economic opportunity 54:26 To get rich, you need specific knowledge, accountability, leverage, and judgment. 58:00 Being 100% committed to a subject leads to great success, especially in domains where compounding factors and leverage come into play. 59:43 Having strong analytical skills and a passion for technology can lead to success in business and technology careers. 1:02:57 Specific knowledge is key to building wealth beyond what one already has. 1:04:48 Choosing a career based on passion rather than money results in deeper commitment and success. 1:08:19 Having both building and selling skills is a powerful combination. 1:10:05 Developing writing skills can be an effective alternative to traditional sales skills. 1:13:36 Gradually progress from reading fiction to nonfiction and then to specialized fields like science and philosophy. 1:15:19 Build a solid foundation of understanding to effectively absorb and apply knowledge. 1:18:54 Repetition, understanding, logic, and foundations are key for smart thinking and learning. 1:20:47 Focus on the foundations with a science bent and develop a love for reading for self-education. 1:24:03 Iterate and learn for faster progress 1:25:46 Accountability and taking risks can lead to rewards and leverage for getting rich. 1:29:04 Accountability is important for building credibility and gaining leverage. 1:30:43 Equity holders have the most upside potential but also take on the greatest risk. 1:34:04 Accountability and leverage are key factors in achieving success. 1:35:55 Labor is an overvalued form of leverage, managing other people is messy. 1:39:22 The newest form of leverage for getting rich is through products that have no marginal cost of replication. 1:41:00 Tech startups excel by combining minimal labor, capital, and leverage through code and media. 1:44:24 Coding is a powerful superpower that allows people to manipulate robots and build businesses. 1:46:09 Rich people consume products as a form of signaling 1:49:35 The internet has made labor and capital permissionless. 1:51:26 Network effects create natural monopolies in the tech industry. 1:54:49 Network effects and leveraging user value are key to a successful business model. 1:56:33 Having specific knowledge is important for career growth and higher earnings. 1:59:43 Combining specific knowledge in real estate and technology, leveraging capital, talent, and code can lead to massive success. 2:01:22 Leverage is crucial for creating great fortunes. 2:04:54 Intellect without experience is useless 2:06:44 Investment is a real-world activity that requires broad-based judgment and thinking. 2:10:02 Outsource tasks and hire an assistant to save time and focus on higher priorities. 2:11:26 Working hard is important, but it is not enough to get wealthy. 2:14:36 Act on inspiration immediately 2:16:05 Solve problems quickly to find peace and success. 2:19:14 Product progress is crucial when pitching a start-up to investors in the tech business. 2:20:56 You need to be the best at what you do and keep changing until you're number one. 2:24:11 Authenticity naturally gets you away from competition. 2:25:53 Finding authenticity is key to success in any market. 2:29:15 Don't get caught up in competition and focus on what the consumer really wants. 2:30:50 Success takes time and consistent effort. 2:34:17 Focus on the single biggest thing or two that you are good at and the market values. 2:36:06 You have to reject most advice but listen enough to know what to reject and accept. 2:39:28 Cultivate your health, mental health, and close relationships for peace and happiness. 2:41:08 Having money solves relationship problems and buys you freedom in the material world. 2:44:29 Learn how to build a good team and culture, find product market fit, and develop skills while figuring out your direction. 2:46:06 Productize yourself 2:49:39 Applying accountability and leverage, and specific knowledge can help improve your existing career. 2:51:20 Wealth creation is not at odds with environmental sustainability. 2:54:53 Moving to a smaller organization provides more leverage and opportunities for growth. 2:56:37 Being ethical in business is a selfish imperative. 3:00:00 Personal experiences shaped my desire to create wealth through mental activities rather than physical ones. 3:01:42 Facing boredom and termination at a prestigious internship was the best thing that happened, as it redirected my career path 3:05:07 Principles and incentives for business owners and agents can be different, making incentive design a difficult problem. 3:06:57 Aligning ownership and incentives with top lieutenants is crucial for long-term success in business deals. 3:10:48 Risk-taking in gambling is not always rational and can lead to ruin. 3:12:36 Use shelling points to find convergence in games and negotiations. 3:16:06 Building trust and strong relationships in the community can lead to better negotiating leverage and ease in conducting business. 3:17:55 Compounding relationships and thinking big can lead to significant success 3:21:22 Startups should consider the discount rate to determine their current worth for venture capitalists. 3:23:07 Properly pricing externalities can save resources in a tremendous way. 3:26:35 Developing a founder mentality can set you up for success as a founder in the future. 3:28:21 Acquire specific knowledge in areas of interest and take on accountability to solve hard problems. 3:32:06 Working as a consultant allows for independence but sacrifices visibility and accountability. 3:33:55 An apprenticeship model is followed to teach founders how to become angel and venture investors. But it’s also a powerful motivator and it combats fear. Personally I don’t have all that judgment over an emotion, we evolved to have it for a reason. It’s an energy. What you choose to do with it is up to you. Can it be self destructive, absolutely. But if you learn to channel it you can turn it into a powerful source of energy and use it productively.

    I'm in my mid 40s and I'm already bored. I'm single, been that way my whole life. I'm bored with dating, also, dating had gotten horrible compared to when I was in my prime. It's probably partially due to my lack of energy about the whole thing, but on the West coast it really sucks. People are so self involved and super busy. I'm super busy. I don't know how we are going to make it man. I have lived a very full life, and like 3 lives already, and now I'm on my 4th. Sex has gotten kinda boring. I need to fall for someone really hard but I'm not sure that's possible anymore with the way I've aged. Maybe a different country is the answer. I find USA uninspiring and mostly disheartening. That's partially why I became a comedian, because I felt this country needs better and needs some honesty. A lot of liars out here.

    Ah, the classic status quo bias… 1) if boredom is already present in a healthy human of our times, it says a lot about his / her inability to find (requires more time) and scale their unique talent (again, in an equation where time could compensate for lack of financing, for example) - building cathedrals took generations… 2) we’ve yet to witness an overwhelming number of healthy individuals saying “oh I’m so bored, please, I want to die ASAP” to the nurse with a barbiturates syringe Lifespan != healthspan… “Longevity” is vague on this distinction. Imagine spending 2000 years “becoming millionaire” with all the promised “freedom of consumption”. That’s when you turn to the harder, more interesting pursuits like researching gravity, social systems, etc.

    The longest term games involve the biggest stakes.. what affects the entire planet? What affects the solar system? What are you doing that will affect your descendants or your haplogroup in 10 centuries? Investing in augmentation, contributing to products that will follow neuralink? Living long enough to establish an outpost in the Kuipur belt? Those are the games that you might play with other stakeholders over the course of say 10K years.

If you live 10k years you have enough time to learn so many things! Life suddenly becomes not stupid and meaningless. I do almost nothing xourse i know i will die in few years. If you ever meet people in their late 90s, they're just waiting to leave too. They lost friends, partners, siblings, sometimes children, and the world is a radically different place that it was for them. The human consciousness isn't made to exceed much past a century imo, at this point at least.

  • @RoxyWrites
    @RoxyWrites9 күн бұрын

    Limited thinking and fear keep us in a place where we cannot see possibility beyond the constructs handed to us by our family, society, religion, and culture. The question is not what do I do after losing all my family, friends, frame of references etc., real evolution in human consciousness comes from the realization that the question is what do I still have to give because when you reach the point you describe, now the entire human species is your family, your friends, your frame of reference. Those are the people who are 90 and can run circles around the rest of us because they've discovered that life is not all about them personally, they've discovered human consciousness beyond their personal ego. If we want to evolve as a species, that is our next 'frame of reference.'
