👫ABOUT US
Considering Downsizing to The Full Time RV Life? Are you interested in RVing, traveling, adventures & making some significant changes to your Life?
We are Alice & Larry, 50 something empty nesters Full Time RV Traveling w/ our dog Scruffy. We do videos on downsizing, preparing for Full Time RV Living & the raw truth about everything that entails, along w/ DIYs, our adventures & campground tours.
We downsized from a 2600 + square foot house in Central Florida to a 35' Grand Design Solitude (now a 33' Reflection 303 RLS)to get “out of the box” & to enjoy all that nature offers & to live each day deliberately. We aren’t retired- we are looking for our "encore" career. We love hikes, ANY water feature, & sharing with with everyone else.
If you are interested in transforming your life to one with more adventure, & more creative exploration, please consider subscribing to join us on our journey.

That looks so much easier than pulling the whole thing down and all the other seemingly unnecessary steps that other people do. My new awning fabric just came in so I'm about to try to tackle this project DIY. 😅 Thank you very much for sharing you're helpful tips and tricks! 🐱
So it's disposable? You can't reload it?
Congratulations on achieving the milestone of getting “deer” right and not saying “deers”
Great video! Glad you were able to do quick stops that way you can go see what you needed or wanted to see. I cried when the Oklahoma City bombing happened. You visited some nice areas, beautiful scenery on your feet muddy Larry and so was Scruffy’s. Lol! Hope you had a great time. I know I dud along with you. Hope you have a great eeek and weekend and see you soon! Travel safe! Love you! ❤❤🤗😘
It was a great week, Sherri. Thanks Alice
It takes time to get back into a routine after a long break. Thanks for the video.
Ann, thanks for understanding Alice
Love the casual nature you two enjoy. The videos seem to jump around in time - forward, then backward, then forward. I know, I know . . . . more time on editing :-(
Hooks are in no order. Then summary. Then chronological Alice
Excellent video. Do you think since the max output of the EU 2200 is 18.3 amp that I can get away with a 20 amp extension cord?
Nice to see you enjoying the outdoors. Safe travels.
Thanks - started with Week 1 Vlog of our CAAT Series 😃 Alice
Thanks, my 30 amp had to be fully built from no clear instructions on placement of tabs screw head up? Down What side is white on?
Thank you for the Loves RV review. We have site 12 reserved next week, and it looks like you might have been in site 13. This gives me a great glimpse of what to expect. We were a little apprehensive.
Cora, this one is nicer than our next one coming up - lots more room between sites in this one. Our next one looks like there is barely any room to put out slides 😆 Alice
This video reminded me of the fact that the Oklahoma 9/11 Memorial wasn’t in my Places to Visit playlist…✔️It is now, thank you.👍🏼😎
Rick, OKC Memorial has been created with a great deal of respect. Alice
The only thing I wouldn't do would be that tower. No thank you. I love hot springs, unless they are over 104.
You can take the elevator and only do the indoor observation deck. It’s an amazing view. We didn’t bring our temperature gun so we aren’t sure how hot the water was Alice
👍🏻🤗
Thanks 🙏 Alice
Excellent vídeo 👏thank you for sharing
Suilla, Hope it helps you enjoy your stay Alice
Great video. I don't see California on your travel map. If you ever come to northern California, my friend is a boondockers welcome host here in the bay area. "Bay area bliss " thanks Don
Don, We are trying to get that way. Thanks for the tip. I’ll look him up Alice
@@DownsizingMakesCents If you do, we are in the middle of San Francisco, Sacramento and Napa.
Great CAAT adventure! Thanks for the views and the jocularity !! lol I’ve seen people not yield at all coming on the interstate! So annoying and dangerous!!! It’s finally raining in Bronson and Ocala area ! Thanks guys !!! 😁👍
Ralph, glad we could make you laugh. It is crazy how defensive we have to drive. Sometimes there’s no room to move and we hope they see us. Hope the rain cools you off Currently in Vail, Colorado 😃 Alice
Dude totally happened to me as well. Replacing right now. FYI I found a replacement on eBay for much cheaper than Amazon. Still new in package.
That’s awesome. Unfortunately, while traveling, we can’t wait and hope eBay gets to us in time. That’s why Amazon usually works for us, Alice
Yep I’m with you Alice, I like to take a little more time🤗
Thanks, Lisa. It’s nice to have someone on my side 😁 Alice
nice trip you should get snap pads for your trailer they are the greatest i have them on my 2014 thor ace big difference with them
John, what is it that the snap pads help with? We would still need something under the jacks when unlevel
@@DownsizingMakesCents well they are very stable and protect the feet from getting bent or damaged and i only use the levelers with nothing else to level my motorhome and from what i have seen they work on all surfaces and will not sink into the ground well worth the price i paid for them and easy to i install
We use our own bathroom. We travel with our Newfoundlands lol
Rhonda, I don’t see why not use your own. Oh. Those are big dogs 😆 🐾 ❤️ Alice
I usually try to skip as many ads on YT as a I can, but I let yours go to help you out. (what a guy) I was rewarded with one of the funniest I have seen ever. Wild Willies beard products. Hilarious, and it matches the fun I have watching your channel!
Appreciate the support and glad you got a laugh from a commercial 😁 Alice
Thanks for stopping by! ❤
We already booked a stay at a different location
Great video!!!! Just out of curiosity, where specifically is that city park?
Found it!!! Looks like Wes Watkins in McLoud.
Joe, link in the description
@@JoeUndercofler yes - glad you found it
We just stayed near Spanish peaks just north of Taos NM last week. Was beautiful and cool up in the mountains
Glen, where did you stay - would love to camp close next time Alice
@@DownsizingMakesCents stay at Road Runner Rv Resort in Red River NM.
Watching this video made me smile from ear to ear. I am sooo happy to see you three "runnin' and gunnin" again, coursing your way across these United States, as intended. Big, unusual landmarks and cool boondocking sites. Loving it all! Thank you and safe, continued travels, Alice, Larry, and SCP. 🙏🏾👍🏾❤️
Thanks, Raoul We are having a blast and glad it comes across. Scruffy is loving all the new places and smells 🐾 ❤️ Alice
Alice I don’t touch feet either 😂. I even freak out if my boyfriend’s feet touch mine 😂.
Shawna, yep. But I do appreciate a foot massage 😁 Alice
Lol ...Larry strippin ...and rv trippin
Roger, 😆 yep Alice
Great video!! But you slipped right past the Big Texan Steakhouse! We usually stop over at Big Texan RV Ranch and go have a steak dinner. Great food! Fun atmosphere. Yea...touristy but it's fun! We have driven by that Capulin volcano many times. Always joke that area looks like giant ant hills! Never knew there was a pretty campground over there! Can't wait to see next video! Oh answering the question: we generally have a limited time for vacation so we stop over one night at places along the way, depending how far it is. We have been known to drive straight through but now that we're getting older, we make shorter driving days and try to stop one or a few nights at a mini-destination.
I don’t mind touristy 😉 Maybe next time. Love 🥩 Wish we could have stopped at Capulin- maybe another time. I’d prefer not to do a 1 nighter. It’s ok every once and awhile. This was a rare week. We are lucky to do these 6 might trips so many years Alice
@@DownsizingMakesCents yes, you are lucky!! We would stay longer but usually our destination for vacation is at least one overnight away. Big Texan is great for tourists 😘 Huge store, fudge shop, shooting gallery, beer garden, and of course the 72 ounce challenge! Always someone willing to try! 😜
We do both depending on where we are heading.
Yes. We normally don’t have a week like this 😁
Great video, you guys. Enjoy
Thanks, Robert
I live 50 miles from Cadillac ranch & have never gone. Capulin mountain/volcano is interesting. We always see bears at Sugarite campground & the lake is beautiful. I hope you saw the fluctuations in Medrano creek at the sand dunes. I liked that more than the dunes but it was very hot when we’ve gone. We summer in South Fork so if you continue on hwy 160, you’ll pass us. I look forward to see what you think about Wolf Creek Pass. I’ve lost track of the truck wrecks we’ve seen there. I’m enjoying your travels.
Shirley, Cadillac Ranch isn’t for everyone- I love all that roadside attraction stuff 😁 The history of it is pretty interesting though If we didn’t have the RV and had more time, I’d like to see Capulin. We didn’t see any bears at Sugarite. And unfortunately didn’t have time to see the lake. We had to cross part of the creek to get to the dunes. We had no idea. Very cool. We didn’t do the Wolf Creek Pass route. Sounds like we are glad we didn’t And thanks. We really appreciate the support Alice
I live a couple miles from Cadillac Ranch. If you come back through here spend a couple days at Palo Canyon and check a the play Texas in the Canyon. Also, spend a couple days at Red Rock Canyon at Hinton OK at exist 101 off I40 East.
I really enjoyed the Texas play in the canyon. Another good one is in Cherokee TN the story of the Cherokee nation
Jim, thanks for the suggestions. Not sure of our route back yet Alice
Jim, thanks for the suggestions. Not sure of our route back yet Alice
We did the fast trip once, not going to do that again. Like to stay a couple of days to a week.
Kim, I would prefer not to do a week like this 😁. I don’t mind one 1 night in between several nights Alice
I love when we can find those nice city or county campgrounds like you found. They generally are well kept and very affordable!
Thanks. We have found some great ones. Campendium is great for finding these Alice
Thanks to you guys we have reservations at Gulpha Gorge in August. Safe travels and thanks for sharing.
Connie, hope we don’t make it too popular 😁 Enjoy Alice
Alice, I thought you didn’t do feet? Scruffy doesn’t count! Very nice video, thanks for sharing with us. I would do anything the wife wants to do, ten minutes isn’t anything! I’m with you Alice, running may make you miss something that shouldn’t be missed!
Walter, same with my kids when they were young. Glad there’s a point on my side 😁 Alice
Another great video!!! I'm still a weekend warrior and have yet to travel more than a few hundred miles from my home. Looking forward to when I can make cross country trips. Based on my personality, I'm sure I'd be running and gunning.
Thanks. And we are lucky that we can travel like we do. We used to be weekenders. So we get it. Since it’s now our fifth year, even Larry has learned to enjoy slowing down 😁 Alice
It just now dawned on me that I don’t know how to put air into the inside rear tires.
Bill, Larry has a special tip he 3 D printed (of course) to reach back to the inside back tires Alice
Hahaha, if you thought the boobies were cool drop down to Alabama and check out the Dolly Parton bridge!
When we traveled last summer we did three one night stops, then took a break for two nights until we got to our main destination where we stayed five nights, then moved to the next spot for 5 nights. This year, a seasonal site with day long day trips have worked out nicely. We NEVER use the rest area or campground bathrooms.
Deb, it is a totally different feeling to move often. I know someone else that would do a month at a time - with day trips. Larry will use the bathhouse for showers if we are conserving water - but both of us prefer our own bathroom 🚽 😁 Alice
@DownsizingMakesCents it differently saves on gas for sure, and I thought I would go crazy staying in one place. But it's been a peaceful relaxing time so far!
We have gone by that volcano several times and never stopped. One of these days I hope to get it done. We are always in a hurry to get to our destination.
Kris, agree. I looked on Google maps - looks like a cool spot. Maybe we will camp close one day and check it out, too Alice
We have a 1 week minimum. Got to get the 1 week, ( pay for 6 nights, get 1 night free, ) discount 👍 Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Greg, that must be at private campgrounds? The 1 night free? Nice. Alice - currently in Colorado
@@DownsizingMakesCents Your correct. We stay at private campgrounds mostly and take advantage of the buy 6 get one free deal. However. We're at a city campground right now that does that too. Enjoyed your video Greg in Michigan
Larry you know what they say happy wife happy life lol
Brian, you would think after 40 years, he would have learned 😆 Alice
I remember that whole terrible period too so thank you for including your visit to the memorial. Safe travels you two!
There are certain moments in history 😔 And thank you. Going a bit slower now Alice
Love Road Tripping Unfortunately My Wife’s Idea Of Ruffing It,Is Holiday Inn. We do miss things along the way I’m sure only occasionally Stay put three days. So much to see must have an stick to a pre planned itinerary! ENJOY!! Happy Travels All The Best! Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed.
Since we bought the RV, the few times we had to stay at a hotel, I didn’t like it. We sometimes have wiggle room and other times just have to get there. Thank you so much for well wishes 🤗 Alice
Did you ever think that all that weight you are carrying around has something to do with your problems?
Laurie, it’s been asked and answered often 😆 We have a very popular video all about the importance of weighing at a Cat Scale Alice
@@DownsizingMakesCents Yes, RV’s are definitely not for any off roads adventures. Me and my husband travel several years luckily we had the means to buy a 2015 Newmar Dutchstar, which could handle alot more weight but off roads were definitely off limits. Glad you’re back traveling again.
