The interview scene (Ben Afleck) in Goodwill Hunting (1997) got the idea from this scene (1996) but it was nowhere near as good.

As someone who welcomed the dole after college, I can relate to this. There are some jobs out there that just aren't worth getting up out of bed for (ie, production operators in a factory or telesales). No disrespect to people currently doing these jobs, but I probably wouldn't last a month in either job.

When I first saw this movie as a teenager, I could not understand a damn thing he said in this scene, but I still found it absolutely hilarious because of his maneurisms and expressions. Now, knowing what he's saying, I still find it hysterical solely because of how he represents himself.

Lol, speed is definitely not the substance to take for anxiety/nervousness. Give him a low dose benzo or some phenibut and he'll be good. Also only speaking for myself but most of us into those heavy downers would rather get stabbed than take amphetamines

Surely a performance like this in a job interview would have gotten you a front facing job in almost any industry, at least as a greeter or in a callcentre. Talking about the 90s which had more empty jobs than ever before from the booming economy. Maybe not against some old stick up their butt teacher types interviewing you but something like travel definitely appreciates an over the top sales pitch. Regardless it fitted the scene and is legendary in showing how awkward job interview are, especially for those who want to stay on the dole!
