Field Guide to DIY

Field Guide to DIY

Field Guide to DIY™️ is all about giving direction to homeowners and do-it-yourselfers. We feature how-tos, projects, product reviews, tips, tricks, and hacks. We talk about woodworking, electrical, plumbing and all-around home improvement for folks on a budget or just wanting to know how. If you know of a better way, provide it in the comments section of the video.

My name is Eddie Field. I enjoy bad dad jokes and saving money. You might even call me a cheapskate. I learned so much from my dad and have had so many of my friends ask how I fixed this or built that. So I decided you might want to know.

We grow up in such a disposable day and age. It is good to see folks fix it themselves. Remember when you were little? Mom or Dad would try to help and you'd say, "NO! I can do it myself!" Field Guide to DIY is designed to help you do just that -- Do It Yourself.

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments. Thanks for checking us out.

    Doug, I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting it back together. Perhaps this video will help. Head Removal - Ryobi Weed Wacker String Trimmer String Replacement kzread.info/dash/bejne/fahnvNdyj7TIdJc.html. As to why I keep this video up, it is a way to restring your string trimmer; in fact the instructions provided with mine gave this way. Also if the line is tangled inside the spool, you MUST do it this way. Keep me posted.

    My suggestion would be to take the original video down. Before I read one the comments I started following your original instructions. Thanks for making this video but that is my suggestion. For some reason the incorrect way came up first. Take care

  • @FieldGuidetoDIY
    @FieldGuidetoDIY2 күн бұрын

    Scott, thanks for the suggestion. Honestly I have thought about it but, truth be told, it is not the “wrong” way but more difficult. In fact, you MUST remove the head if the line has fallen inside or is tangled inside the head. But I do appreciate your feedback!

    Does the 3M Worktunes have a decent sound quality and bass? It's a shame that they don't use USB-C but the outdated and vulnerable Micro-USB. USB-C is now quite standard these days.

    @@FieldGuidetoDIY Thanks for the reply. I had thought about using a C clamp and after watching the other video I tried it. No go. It wouldn't stay on and the top part overlaps the lower part so the C clamp is in the way. I tried to get it back into the unlocked position by just using the cap and not including the spring nor the spool. It would not budge. So, I took it back to Home Depot. Two guys at the returns counters spent 10-15 trying as well with no luck. Maybe I just got a bad one. So, it is now gone and I am now with a DeWalt.

    You do need to take off the bottom if you loaded it, like in your other video, and the first time you use it the string brakes. It can be fixed easily by feeding the string through the exit holes and make sure its free. Tkx for both videos.

    I'm a total noob with the speed square, so forgive me if I'm wrong (if I am, please point out why, so I can learn). Other videos I've watched about using speed squares emphasize that the mark should always be made on the pivot point side - the side with the inch scale - but at 7:10 you're marking along the degree scale side instead, for the 6:12 pitch. Is that the right way to make that mark? What am I missing?

    Unnecessary to take it all apart. You just put it through all the way in as long as the arrows on the yellow part are pointed to the correct arrows on the gray part then it makes a straight line hole all the way through so just feed the string all the way through without taking it apart and then make sure it’s equal on either side and then, just reel it in.
