Would Ragar be considered a good father to a gifted rippled son or a monster enabling monster? Or both?

This is an exaggerated version of the sons felt his death, they probably found out after a few days to Ragnar had a name and word travels fast, always has. Either way they got revenge

I love how King Aelle is so scared and such a sissy in front of the Vikings. When he was King, he of course had power and was not afraid.

Aslaug is evil witch who gave her son Ivar to a evil , murderous reprobate, who teaches him to hate Jesus Christ His Word, and Christians and to accept fallen angels as false gods.

Always wondered what happened to the northman settlers, always sucks when a good show with many potential story lines comes to end.. without an end for many character's.

These movies gotta stop twisting reality in such a way. Never in a million years does a man who was just about to die by drowning not start to smile after 5 seconds.

GOD DAMN I MISS THIS SHOW SO FREAKING MUCH.... One of the finest written television series EVER. I would argue that it was as close to perfection as you can get in every single aspect. This scene specifically is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. Gives me literal goosebumps every time i watch.

This scene is a little less impactful when you know enough about snakes to know that the majority of the snakes in that pit are pythons and aren't really venomous

This is simply not a Scandinavian practice....either way it is a tv show and it is done for drama. "Riste en blodørn" to make a blodeagle, was simply to let the carcass rot on the battlefield without honors, for a feast for the eagles. In Scandinavia at that time eagles was seen as carrion birds, so you fed the eagle. It is a misinterpreted vers in the sagas that fed this conspiracy. Btw Regner Lobrog most likely did not exist, he is a konglomerat of several mythological figures, to point to him as a forefather, is a bon for your family. He is a mythological Danish King, and there is absolutely no evidence for him to ever have existed, there are no Runestones, there are no evidence for him in the Danish annals of Dynasties, he is reported to have been the Father of Gorm the Old, no such evidence . Another thing is Ivar Benløs, he was absolutely not handicapped, he would never be allowed to lead a hird/host as a Champion without being able to stand or walk, like inthis series. Benløs/Benlausa means something like, widely travelled, he is reported to have travelled the Russian/Ukrainian waterways for quite some time raiding and trading, he has other pseudonyms also, like Vidfadme, which is pointing to his kingship, in Ireland, NE England, Denmark and Rus. The last two positions is not true, he never was king of Denmark or Rus. But a mighty warrior according to the sagas. It is a show so many things are turned on its head, timelines, places, people etc etc. But fun to watch.

definitely historically inaccurate. While there is no record of his death, Rollo was believed to have died around 930. It is presumed that he died of old age, and his tomb is still on display in Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Rouen.
