    I dropped MHA during the Joint Training arc once it was revealed that Midoriya had multiple quirks. It instantly ruined his character for me out of fear he'd just pull out a new Deus Ex Machina power at any convenient time. That was a few years ago. Now I catch up on the story so far and stumbled across your video. Not only have my fears regarding Midoriya's powers been validated by him learning to fly/float?? during the fight against Shiggy, I also learn more and more with each objectively critical video I watch that I made the best decision dropping this mess of a story when I did. MHA is great at the beginning. What a shame to see what's become of it.

    Saying Jeanist should fight earlier due to being able enough is dumb. Yeah I know they sent children but they were all in the rear guard while Jeanist would’ve had to have been frontlines. Also the commission has been training the children for months at that point. There was no guarantee that Jeanist would be okay enough to be in the frontlines. Also they probably didn’t send more spies into the liberation army because they wouldn’t really be able to do anything. The only reason hawks isn’t treated like a low level grunt is because he provides value to the PLF. A normal spy would honestly just give the commission more chances to be caught. Hawks is already the #2 hero and with his quirk he is also amazing at espionage. There’s genuinely so little that another spy would contribute to the investigation that hawks couldn’t do already. Unless they had a super strong quirk but at that point it’s worse writing due to introducing a new (probably irrelevant) character whose whole purpose was to back up hawks when it was needed. Honestly I think Shigeraki still being under the influence of AFO is pretty good due to it showing that AFO truly was always in control. He always saw Shigeraki as just a pawn and it highlights what Deku says about Shigeraki needing to be saved. It shows the lengths that AFO will go to mold Shigeraki into the perfect vessel just for his own benefit. Yeah it does hurt Shigerakis character but it also allows Shigeraki to not have to be a villain in the end if they choose not to go that way. They did say that he always wanted to be a hero and if they do end up making him turn good then it’ll be a better impact than Deku convincing the main antagonist to turn good. People would compare that to Naruto and his talko no jutsu. Also I haven’t read the manga so idk if this happens or not. It’s just a possibility that they could explore. No spoilers please. AFO returning doesn’t negate the impact of United States smash. The heroes still lost almight. Honestly it kinda makes it hit harder imo. The strongest hero for decades had to give it all up just to give everyone else a chance to grow up in a normal life. It shows the stakes that were there and when AFO does return then it raises the stakes even more. They barely won last time and now the villains are twice as strong and the heroes are less capable. It’s not a “my sacrifice was pointless because you survived” moment. It’s more like a “I did what I had to do” moment While I agree that the 2nd and 3rd users probably would’ve argued at the notion of saving someone as powerful as Shigeraki. I think they trust in Deku (or at least they are forced to). At the end of the day the users can’t really do anything except choose to help Deku or not. The 1st user said that the power was born from saving a potential enemy and it’s happening again. They probably should’ve added a debate conversation tho. Other than that I understand every other point and kinda agree with some. It was a good video through and through

    I honestly thought that Lady Nagnant’s and Hawk’s stories were so interesting because the hero commission seems like it would be a hard villain for that society to tackle. I kind of wish that they kept away from the war for a little bit and kept the meta liberation army separate from the League ( even though I did like their fight) I think it would make a more impactful story if Hori expanded on the fact that the MLA had so many people with them.

    I want to ask you something? First, I'll be honest: I have not watched season 6 yet. I stopped after season 5 because of how egregious that season was. Anyways, since the Liberation Arc got covered in the anime, I would like to ask: was it well adapted, and is season 6 worth the watch? I am kind of conflicted about season 6 since every comment in this video (I am no hardcore MHA fan, purely speculation here) is heavily critical of it, yet the anime has an 8 on MAL. I just want to know if the anime is still worth continuing, that is all.

    you keep bringing up the idea that the students from UA being a part of this war is somehow outrageous really goes to show you didn't think about the world that hard. you do know that at this time they are all officially licensed hero's correct? that's like being upset that someone who got their drivers license is allowed to drive, because they are a teenager. the students of UA have been consistently show as very powerful, even stronger than a lot of pro hero's, and all of them had been doing work studys/internships with actual heros doing actual hero work. this is also actual hero work!? they were purposely positioned to NOT be directly in the heavy part of fighting, and any time they were was either because they disobeyed or because the hero's got overran and villains broke past the front lines. it doesn't seem like you were upset that students were involved in the overhaul mission, and my question to you, was how is that any different? the involvement of the students in this mission is even less so of the overhaul mission. you are pretty much saying you you think it doesn't make sense in universe that the higher ups would be okay with people officially licensed to do hero work, doing hero work. also the best jeanist argument is weak because the near death state is a fictional thing, and best jeanist can be as recovered or not recovered from it as horikoshi wants. hawks coul;d only have stolen best jeanist back a few days before or even A day before. there are people that are going to check that warehouse, its not abandoned. hawks presumably took him out at the last possible time he could before someone checked it but also as close to the war time as possible, which could not have been a very long time. also remember that he was in a random warehouse in japan, pretty sure we dont know how far away it was, but it still needs to be considered as an element of that. what happens when you take someone suspended in near death out of the container? they need to be tended too. if the warehouse was far away, then whatever hospital jeanist was being crared for at must have been far away too. you could say they could move him closer while treating him, but thats to assumed the stuff needed to treat that state could be mobile. theres a lot about this topic that isnt given, but thats because horikoshi is assuming you will take it at face value/not need to make a million assumptions, or contemplate how long a fictional state takes to heal with fictional surgery. you have to assume at that point, that if they didnt mention they could do something, they couldnt. saying they could is legit just making up headcannon about the situation and going "wow look they didnt do the solution that becomes available with my own personal interpretations of how this thing that wasnt elaborated on works, plot hole alert!!" what im saying is, the story didnt give us that much of an explanation of the jeanist situation, so we can only assume that the characters made the most fitting choices for the situation that matches that character. you are assuming there was a different way for hawks to handle this situation by making head cannon assumptions about it and then complaining. we are told and shown time and time again that hawks is a smart character, so why should we assume he made a dumb decision off screen when we arent even shown the whole situation. its okay if you feel like they should have explained it more, or if you wanted them to seem more info about that, but it works in the story regardless and the info isn't needed. that and best jeanists quirk is not as strong as you think it is. he is never shown to be able to make super hyper controlled movements with the tightness of his strands on one person while having multiple people held with super strong wire. remember, jeanist isnt using that persons clothes or anything here, he has wire surrounding every villain there, increasing the tighness around one person in a cord with a set length would increase the tightness of the cord overall, if he wanted to kill shigaraki, he would have had to kill every other villain that was tied up with that cord (or all of them if he was tied with multiple cords) and thats assuming he wasnt at full tightness as we see him trying his hardest to hold gaigantamakia saying he could specifically move that wire and throw shigaraki over to someone who could kill him is equally as stupid of an idea, again, hes not ever show to be able to make precise movements like that while also at full tighness. also do remember that even if shigarakis regen is not working properly, it was directly stated he was as fast and as tough as prime all might. that and we see jeanist fail to damage even weakened all for one back in season 3. while yes he has stronger cord this time, we have no way to know if that would be enough. you assuming jeanist could be available earlier is so weird to me when a smart character like hawks is shown to be saying "yea i did the best decisions i could and got you healed the fastest i could given the situation." now im not 100% defending this arc, there are problems. (midnight death was R tarded) and horikoshi has made a lot of writing mistakes before (nagant sniping 200km away would have the earths curve be 2 km back so she legit could not have seen where she was aiming, even if she had nasa telescope eyesight and aizen level predictions) but you are nitpicking a lot of things that can be easily defended and then throwing out crappy "counter arguments" with crying wojacks to make it seem like you have the objective opinion here. there are flawed moments and mistakes, but you are making a lot of claims in this video, and a lot of them are not as valid as you think they are. i CAN go into detail about the rest but tbh i dont even think its worth the energy. lets just agree, if you want to dislike the arc, go for it, if you dont like the writing of those parts, thats fair, but dont say they are undefendable. its flawed, but a lot of the things you think are wrong have a justification to them. (midnight got shafted though and grand torino should have died, i fully agree on those parts.) sorry for rambling, and this might not have been the most completely thought out comment, but i didnt see anyone else making counter arguments to your really iffy points, so i felt like I should. im not like, mad or upset or anything, i just feel like there was some stuff you didnt think through. if you have counter-COUNTER arguments, be free to shoot them my way. I'm not opposed to thinking this arc was trash but the points made in the video didnt come off as strong to me as they did to you or other people. (again not everything, but some of this, like the jeanist stuff, was based on a lot of assumptions you made.)

  • @Arkwinder
    @Arkwinder28 күн бұрын

    First of all, I didn’t criticize this story arc for having the students in the arc. My point with them is that the commission would not care for Jeanist’s well being, when they sent what are essentially child soldiers into warfare. As for that aspect itself with the students, there is nothing wrong with it. The commission would use children as their pawns, which extends to the Overhaul Arc as well. Now, to your big point about Jeanist. One, Hawks states, “Luckily I got you out just in time,” which implies when he got Jeanist was a satisfactory time, so it had to be more than a few days (Regradless, the thousands dead would show that Hawks didn’t do that, Jeanist messed up or both) But let’s ignore that for a second and focus on the warehouse. You are telling me that no one noticed Hawks entering the building or that he was leaving with Jeanist. Even if we assume that Hawks killed everyone there, there would still be cameras watching everything in that building. Hell, Dabi has Skeptic on his side, who set up the cameras that caught Hawks killing Twice. So he would have more security measures than just a few guys guarding Jeanist. Let’s not also forget how Dabi is a complete idiot because the moron didn’t think Hawks might have tried to get the body back. If Dabi was smart, he would given the body to Dr G to Nomu Jeanist or relocating it to another base that Hawks doesn’t know about. Also, your point about Hori wanting to take all this at face value…you do know that makes Hori look even worse? How I saw it was Hori/the editors made a gigantic mistake without even knowing it. Ignoring for a moment why that defense doesn’t work from a writing end, you are basically saying Hori did this plot hole because he just wanted to move and not talk about it and just hope no one would care about this massive mistake. You are essentially admitting Hori is a lazy writer. Congrats, you played yourself. But ignoring that, you are saying that I’m headcanoning the story, when you are literally writing doing that yourself by assuming everything has a good reason despite there being no reason. I’m sorry, but I need an actual reason IN the story. Not your headcanon fanfic. (Side note, just because a character is meant to be smart, doesn’t mean the writer can’t still butcher them by making look like a moron. Go watch my recent Star and Stripe or Madvocate’s flash videos) Also, we do need to know how this happened because this affects the plot and the characters. Quite possibly the most important part of this arc because if Jeanist wasn’t in the final fight, a good chunk of the main cast dies, which changes a few things don’t you say? Let me ask you this then, if Hori decided not to explain how One For All works, the backstories for the LOV, or how any of the quirks work in the universe, would you say we don’t need to them because “we can’t just assume there’s a reason why these quirks work like this?” I assume no because you would say “we need to know to how those work for the story to function.” And I say back to you, “okay, now explain what the Jeanist plotline is still functional when nothing is explained and it’s as clear as cloudly day in the UK?” And again, I said in this in the video, AFO literally states “Tomura’s could give out.”, which means Jeanist could have killed him and still should have tried since that is the mission. Also, bruh, he was able to hold down a Kaiju for several minutes, and he was supposed to be weak in the battle, meaning yeah, he could kill Shiggy if he didn’t stop to watch for no good reason. Also, no, he only went full tightness AFTER the Kaiju was knocked out. He could have. Also, again, you seem to be willing to mental gymnastics the whole jeanist plotline, but Jeanist moving someone around is too much to believe? Also again, AFO literally said Shiggy’s regeneration is out of wack. He CAN’T regenerate. If you are going to say, Jeanist didn’t know, he would have notice if he just looked him and saw how damaged he was. Once more, Hawks said, “I got you out just in time”, which looking at the death count in this arc, is a load of crap. To sum up, you seem to be willing to be extremely good faith and bend over backwards to have the broken aspects of the story work, but somehow, Jeanist moving a person around is too much for you to believe. That’s all I can say.

    @@Arkwinder okay i dont have enough time for a full response right now, but there's still one thing i wanna point out (can get to the rest later if you want) it would be extremely out of character for jeanist to kill shigaraki in this moment. we are told time and time again that hero's dont kill and that its a last resort if there's no other way to stop the villain. shigaraki was knocked out and weakened, as a pro hero thats the perfect time to capture and not kill. why you think a pro hero would kill a villain whos knocked out instead of trying to capture them is kinda weird to me. and yes, they were trying to kill him before, but that's ONLY because the hero's deemed that as the only way to stop him at that time. remember when AFO was knocked out after the united states of smash? did you not find it weird that all might didn't say, "yo endeavor, he's knocked out go burn him to a crisp and make sure he dies." hero's aren't supposed to kill people, especially when there's a perfectly good way to capture them instead. it shocking this hasn't crossed you mind. while yes, you can say they SHOULD have killed him, just like how they SHOULD have killed AFO after all might beat him, thats just simply not how hero's operate within the show, legally, or ethically. yes, it makes sense to kill shiggy and AFO because they are very powerful and evil, but saying heros should have/would have killed them if they had the chance not to, is saying the hero's should have acted completely out of character. again, I'm not like salty or upset about your opinion, you could actually have an amazing counter argument to all my points and be completely right, and i wouldn't be mad. I just want you, and me, to have a better defined opinion of this arc. if i have an idea that you feel is incorrect or wrong, give a counter argument, and if you have an idea that doesn't seem completely solid to me, ill give my my interpretation. i know my paragraphs can come off as aggressive but im not trying to spread negativity, or hate here, i just care about the show (while knowing it has short comings) and I want to think through these ideas thoroughly before I come to my own conclusion. will give more of my thoughts later but i have people coming over in a few minutes now and I don't want to be writing anime youtube comments instead of talking to them lol

  • @Arkwinder
    @Arkwinder28 күн бұрын

    @rustedcrabtm6438 lmao fair. But I will just say, you are wrong again. Mirko basically killed Shiggy when she broke his glass. That was at the start of the arc. And no one gave her shit because that was the mission. "Make sure he never wakes up." That's pretty clearly meant to be "kill him." And Jeanist would have been given these orders too, so there is no defense for him not to kill

  • @rustedcrabtm6438
    @rustedcrabtm643828 күн бұрын

    "Make sure he never wakes up." was referring to the coma he was in that was going to make him extremely strong. he was in a death like state just like jeanist was so to arrest him you would have to take him out of the tube, theres no other way to arrest him. the heros either had to wait for him to finish the transformation to arrest him or take him out and deal with the fact that he'll still be in a death like state. in other words the order was to make sure the transformation process was not completed. that and, shigaraki was already in a death like state, so they weren't fighting to kill him, they were fighting to stop his revival, which is completely different. but regardless, the situation changed once he awoke so those orders just don't apply to the situation anymore. (sorry i should stop responding until tomorrow)

  • @rustedcrabtm6438
    @rustedcrabtm643828 күн бұрын

    also bruh the "dont let shigaraki wake up" line was said by mirko and aizawa directly responds saying "we cant let shigaraki join the fight" you legit took that line completely out of context (chapter 269 last page, thats what you were quoting right?) that AND when that was said they didnt even KNOW he was in a death like state. thats DOUBLE the counter argument to your claim that they were planning on killing shigaraki while he was in the tube?? sorry my friend was coming over to watch mha and we finished season 5 and just got to that part (strange timing but i guess i found this video cause i was thinking about season 6 at the time) but yea, unless you are talking about a different line.
