  This list feels wrong somehow lol My ranking 12. I Forgot That You Existed - I love Lover the album (it's in my top 3) but this has got to be the weakest opening track of all time. Probably the reason why Lover isn't #1 for me 11. Welcome To New York - From here on are actually very good opening tracks but ranked based on how I much I listen to them 10. Tim McGraw - One of four times Taylor uses her opening track as the lead single and this is the weakest one for obvious reasons 9. Mine - I had to think about this one real hard but I just love other tracks more. This song deserves better though 8. State Of Grace - I know this is a hot take, but hear me out. I appreciate those offensive drums and how the song lays the groundwork for the whole Red album but there's only that for this song for me 7. willow - I love this song personally, the witchy vibes and all, but the next song on this list did it better 6. the 1 - Now this is an opening track for the ages. What a way to get us all into this new aesthetic 5. ...Ready For It? - Anytime I just feel like rapping, this song is my go-to song, the first one on my mind, and we must all admit it, the rap lines are just too good 4. Fearless - Anybody that doesn't have Fearless the song in their top five for track one, first of all, don't talk to me...literally. It's psychosis to put this song lower than #5 3. Fortnight - Maybe it's recency bias affecting me but I still can't get over this song. The rush of excitement to listen to TTPD always starts with this song 2. Lavender Haze - I gotta admit, Taylor really put narcotics into this opening track, because it's not even that good in the opinion of some Swifties, but damn that first line gets me every time. Midnights became one of my favourite albums because of this song (and a few others as well) 1. The Black Dog - Listen, I'm just a simple guy. You can't make tell me this song is not the best song you've ever heard. The heavens this song takes me to is unphantomable and thank God we're separating the Anthology from the standard edition even though in my mind they're one and the same...at least this song can get its flowers as it should

  Mine (Highly controversial) 1. State Of Grace - Second best song on Red and also the tour opener and album opener? Taylor, you're spoiling us and killed us 2. I Forgot That you Existed - Perfect transition from dark reputation to glitter gel Lover 3. ...Ready For It? - Perfect transition from the pop bible to dark repuation 4. Fearless - There's no explanation, it's Fearless 5. Welcome To New York - Sets the vibe of 1989 quite well, I'd say if the other 4 before this one didn't exist, this would be the first one 6. Lavender Haze - It sets the vibe of Midnights quite well on the first track, just not as much as Welcome To New York 7. Willow - I loved the melody, lyrics, and I had a huge obsession with this song when it came out 8. The 1 - Destroyed us, ate us, savoured us, ate us even more, and then we died 9. Tim Mcgraw - Without this song, Taylor wouldn't have started her career, just saying 10. Mine - I prefer Sparks Fly as the first track or Foolish One, but I did have a huge obsession with this when I was a kid 11. Fortnight - This is fine, as a first track, it got me confused on what the whole album would be 12. The Black Dog - I only listened to it three times, but I do like it. If I listen to it more, then I'll be converted to a Black Dog stan, and I'm not ready yet 😭

  1. …Ready for it? - most iconic tour opener IMO 2. Welcome to New York (Taylor’s Version) - love the harmonies in TV 3. Lavender Haze - love the vibes of this song sm 4. Willow - love this, especially the vibes on the Eras Tour 5. The 1 - tossing pennies in the pool 6. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) - head first fearless is an iconic lyric 7. The Black Dog - starting with SCREAMING and ending with screaming. Need I say more? 8. Fortnight - Perfect intro to the TTPD, love the way it gave Lana vibes when I first listened to it. 9. I forgot that you existed - this being the only song about Calvin Harris is hilarious 10. Mine (Taylor’s Version) - I love Speak Now, but I like other songs in there better. 11. Tim McGraw - Love debut, it’s a great song to start off with, but I like the other track ones better. If it was Picture to Burn it would’ve been different EDIT: I forgot I did TTPD and TTPD Anthology, so when I saw I hit 11 I thought I was done 😭. Anyway, 12. State of Grace - Respectfully, weak opener to RED (which is already my least fav album. Has some good songs, but not a fav)
