🤔WolfPack question: I have the Longhorn Limited 2500 4x4. Love your bumper. Q: I have lights down on mine, that when I turn or, go into turns and signal, I have LED factory lights that come one bright and I assume go out or dim once straighten - Do your lights conduct this as setup, or did yours and does it still with the new lights? I'm still likely going to get one, I love the paint match option. Else, I'm stuck with going away from the factory looking, and go AEV black and brawny. I just would really like a real bumper/winch setup with the added guard plates and match well.
annoying music, annoying camera work, annoying host.
This is a cool build don’t get me wrong, but for those thinking about getting a Four Wheel Camper do NOT put it on a 1/2 ton truck. You need a 2500 or 3500. Good rule of thumb is keep it under 80% of your payload capacity fully loaded. Over that the vehicle will start to perform poorly. Never drive over your payload capacity. The frame is twisting on this build because it’s over payload. There a great podcast with Dave Harrington (founder of AEV) about payload on the Overland Journal Podcast
I wanna get my truck regeared but couldn’t find the parts available anywhere. You mind sharing where you had it regeared or where you got the parts if you did it yourself? Thanks
I went direct with Nitro Gear and Axle in Cashmere, WA. The parent company name is Just Differentials same location, same ppl. And I also had the work done there.
@@WolfPacOutdoors thanks for the info. I live in NY I’ve been trying to find the parts or place to get my truck regeared. How do you like the 5.29 with all the weight on the truck and 37s does it do the trick?
@wayned3137 5.29’s are perfect for how I have it set up. I know Nitro will let you ship your 3rd members to them and build it for you, however cost inefficient that may be for most. You should be able to place an order through them then take it to a local shop 👍
The rocks move across the race track from ice forming and melting. It's an awesome video!
You're correct about the ice forming and melting, I totally forgot to mention that when doing the voice over. Thanks for watching and correcting my mistake.
This is awesome mate, great story telling! 🇦🇺
Thanks a ton! Glad you Aussie guys enjoyed🍻
What brand front bumper is that? Thanks.
Demello off-road “Baja Bumper”
@@WolfPacOutdoors thanks
Man seeing this gave me flash backs haha. Hillary was ROUGH. I’m in a town nearby and ended up chauffeuring police around in my town for the entire day due to the flooding. I’m glad you pushed out and didn’t attempt to just wait it out.
That was one wild event, talking closely with the NPS afterword I recall them saying they sustained 6 million in damages.
I believe it!
Where do you sleep without the camper?
I use the annex/room attached to the awning with an air mattress. It’s waaay more than comfortable but definitely not rated for winter camping without a heater 👍
What is the brand of mat you are using between camper and bed?
I haven't been able to find a brand label on it however, its the stock mat that comes with the Norweld tray. You could try going direct with Norweld or Four Wheel Campers for that.
Oh well,, you can’t please everybody ? Too much complaining going on,, bitch, bitch, bitch instead of being grateful and saying thank you !!! No one is forcing you to listen to it,, what do you expect ??? It’s free for crying out loud and keep your negative comments to yourself,,,you are obviously not a happy person and probably impossible to please !?! Grow up‼️
I have both the hard wire and cigarette lighter. The hard wire never worked despite continuity when ohm testing. The cigarette lighter is blew the 15 amp fuse. I put in a 10A and blew instant. I put in a 20A just to test and it is holding up (monitoring the conductors with a FLIR T865) It does help with limited field testing. Haven't yet put it to a real test where signal is 115-120dbm which I occasionally encounter. Not sure why it's blowing fuses. Specs say 4.5A. My interior antenna dangles in front of me in the cabin and the exterior is mounted on a roof rack with a solar panel. I get poor signal inside my cabin unless I hold the phone to the windshield which is not feasible. I have a telescopic mast that takes the antenna up to 12' but not yet tested in that configuration.
For the fuses I believe direct wiring is the best practice for installing, that being said you should also have an on/off switch between the battery and weboost, as to not constantly use battery. I would be curious if you have anything else on your cigarette lighter lines that are drawing unexpected amps causing the overloading. Any haynes manual should tell you exactly what's on each circuit. From my years of direct use I can ensure this system works, and when you pair it with the weboost app it's even better because you can preplan where to park since the app will show you the direction of the nearest cell tower. From my experience the interior transmitter they give you in the box is nearly worthless unless you hold your device against it, and the only way to get around this is to use a desktop transmitter which will give you about a 25' radius of HQ signal boost. That telescoping mast sounds like a good idea!
@@WolfPacOutdoors The cig receptacle I was using is in the rear cabin/trunk and dedicated. I didn't install and on off switch because I run a 100amp PV panel which is fed into a dual input renogy dc to dc charger with the other input my alternator. This charges 2 x 69aH (138aH) X2 Power SLA deep cycle house batteries as well as my starter battery when the vehicle is off and the house batts are in float mode. I have realized 3" make a difference as far as the interior antenna. The phone should near touch the antenna as a foot away is useless. I would be interested in what sku# a desktop antenna is and its wave progation pattern as to not interfere. A better interior antenna may be best when the exterior is elevated. The last two months I have been pleased. But do understand I may need other options that can be deployed when neccesary. I have not yet had the need to use the telescopic mast but know I will find myself one day in an area where it may be needed. What desktop antenna you recommend?
In the video description I have the desktop antenna I use as well as the other parts you'd need to adapt it to that base. For interference I've found that if I place the interior transmitter 6' vertically below the antenna and 9' horizontally away I have no oscillation. Also the roof acts as a ground plane, which really means the thin sheet of metal mostly keeps the signals on their corresponding sides of the roof.
(1) get a spray-in bed liner or you'll rust out the bed quickly, (2) might as well bought a Mercedes Sprinter van and have it customized through a vendor than drive this massive HD around. Otherwise, half ton or jeep gladiator would have better or off road popup camper trailer
I’ll disagree and here’s why. 1) a sprinter van isn’t built to do hard wheeling. 2) this massive truck has plenty of aftermarket parts built for tough wheeling and has excellent payload capacity which he needed.
Commercials popping in keep waking me up.
That’s unfortunate because I natively set this video to no commercials. I’ll talk with KZread and see if I can get that fixed. Thank you for making me aware of the issue 🙏
Fixed 👍👍👍
We are getting ready to sell out and go full time for at least 5 years and will be getting everything ordered this coming winter. How do you keep the water system from freezing while driving?
This is a question I was able to answer this winter when I spent a few months in Colorado. It ended up reaching temps as low as -10, which was more than substantial to freeze the pipes. However, the answer is longer than a text. I’ll see if I can make a short video showing you how I overcame that obstacle 👍 Congrats on choosing to start your full time adventure, good luck with it all 🙏
Nice review, it’s tough to find info about exact storage dimensions on the Norweld tray- what are the dimensions of the rear tray? Thanks !
🌧️
🙄
Did you feel a difference performance wise? Or get a nice intake sound?
I perceive a performance increase because of the air ram effect, not sure if there was ever any HP gains... however, I've found that my air filter stays cleaner longer and I explain this by having the air source above the wheel well where dust generally saturates when driving off-road.
What type of bolts and nuts are you using? I used some stainless on mine setup and they galled up even with hand tools.
for the exterior im using stainless, to hold the camper to the tray I use grade 8 bolts
FWC IS JUNK
everyone is entitled to an opinion and mine disagrees with yours
I had the best sleep ever. Always hard to know other factors at play; but I will start using this nightly. Thanks
Thank you for the positive energy and may you continue find deep rest throughout your journey 🧘🙏
Thanks for putting together this video; would you mind sharing an update on the rusted screws? Has FWC played ball?
Yes, FWC has been very helpful with all my warranty items and crazy middle of the night questions 😅 I trust them to do the right thing 👍
@@WolfPacOutdoors Sweet! I really appreciate the information. They’ve been around. They’ve a long time and I’m guessing it’s for a reason!
Yeah no doubt 👍 these guys are dialed, if you can or want check out one of there events or after parties at any expo… good times, good people, good food 👍👍👍
Did you have to remove the bumper to install the winch, or can you get the winch on with the bumper already installed
Sorry friend, not my truck, you may be able to find Micah on IG under Oregon_Trail
Who paid for all of this!??! What do you do for work???? I need that job

@@WolfPacOutdoors Damn i'm doing it all wrong. good for you.
Well, I hope you like it….I said to myself when I saw the holes. I like the idea of the snorkel… just cant get past the permanence of the change. haha! Great video!
Yeah no doubt about the point of no return… it wasn’t until I later had to replace the fender that I realized how simple a fender is to replace, literally 9 bolts and a few clips. Plus I’m a huge fan of having the intake out of the wheel well, especially when I was crossing flooded areas last fall, I would have been unable to cross most of them.
I left the original full mattress and I put a 4-in memory foam on top of it and it takes away the bottoming out and when you're a little off center with your vehicle the memory foam forms to your position and it cradles you reducing that feeling of rolling and a sleeping bag unfolded on top of the memory foam mattress when it's cold the flannel inside is up when it's hot I turned over and the shiny part of the sleeping bag is up works great
This is a great idea 🥳👍 biggest downside with sleeping was the comfort of the bed imo… I also put a vapor pad in to let the moisture evaporate from under the mattress ☺️
Info on that home built slider
Sorry I don’t have the details, try reaching out to Oregon Trail on IG 👍
So Happy you love my Back Yard never gets old I do hope you're having a beginning to a Great New Year ❤ Amen
Thank you so much ☺️🙏 we love this spot, one our favorite local go to camping places… sounds like you love it too 🫶 hope you’re having a great new year 🥳
This is a wonderful series that deserves far more views than it has. I appreciate that you showed the emotional toll the stress of the accident caused you. It's not easy being vulnerable to the whole world. So many of these adventure videos skip over anything that goes wrong. Everybody makes mistakes and by showing the consequences, you're helping people avoid them on their own adventures. For anyone considering a similar solo adventure way off the beaten path, two points to consider are to carry a satellite communicator like a InReach or Zoleo and to slow down when you're carrying big loads. You can't drive like a Trophy Truck when you're carrying a 2000lbs camper. Thanks again for sharing your adventure and I'm glad you finally made it home safely.
James thank you. Thanks for making the time to write this comment and thank you for your support. I am beyond grateful for your support, encouragement, and advice for others considering a journey similar to this. Thank you James 🙏 Humbly, Austin
Great. Thank you
You are welcome! Glad you liked it 🤙
Great vid. Thank you. Just what I needed.
You're welcome! Glad it helped 🤙
Good morning, I would like to ask you for information, how much is the height in cm from street level to the roof, naturally with the roof closed Thank you.
Hey Bob, I don’t know an exact height for you… but you can reach out to Stan at 4Wheel Campers in Woodland, CA for that info. His number is +1(530)666-1442, they are the ones that own this truck. Hope this helps 👍 Austin
Thanks for the video, that washed out little turn towards the end looked sketchy. How bad was it in person? Heading there in a couple weeks and could use the information.
When I passed the area in January of 23’ it wasn’t too crazy, but if it has been further washed away from hurricane Hilary it could be sketchy. As you probably know it’ll be easer to take it on going uphill but if you find yourself going down you’d probably be able to “berm it” around that section.
252 years old!!!! Epic!
Honestly, had to fact check myself when I got home bc I was stunned at how old these trees are…😅 crazy old right?!
Those cougar tracks!!! Way cool. Loved the history lesson too.
Such a beautiful place to immerse oneself in… I only wish I had more time to explore more historical sites of this area. Thanks for sharing in this adventure with me 🙏
Such a wild, emotional, gripping adventure… I was riveted the entire time… the smell of pee and egg whites… the ode to Everest! 😭😭😭 So beautiful bro. Wow!
Thanks sis 🙏 that one sure was a wild ride! A little TMI for ya, the smell of urine and egg whites stayed in the truck until I replaced every bit of the cooling system and rebuild the motor 🤣 after pulling the heads off, I was washing out year old eggs before putting it all back together 😵💫 Thanks for watching 🤙
What trail is this it is awesome Andy use on x maps. ❤
Hey Andy, Thanks for the comment! I have the gpx file available for download here: wolfpac-outdoors.com/store/p/gpx-tamarack-lake-aka-hidden-lakes and it will work with all the major platforms including on X 🤙
Thank you for sharing your great Contant your hard work pays off as it is enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing.

Great series. I’d love to hear how you feel the F150 compares to the Tundra sometime. Both seem very capable.
Thanks for joining me on that journey 👍 and thanks for the video idea, I’ll definitely see what I can do 🤙
A huge thank you to everyone whose been here since the beginning and to those of you just starting. I truly appreciate all of your support 🤙 be safe and I’ll see you out on the next one 🤘
Best yet ... well done and more, please
Thanks Sonny, creating the content solo is quite laborious but totally worth it👍 it’s hard to believe this all started over 20 years ago with a ford ranger I built and explored Hawaii with.
That was a great 4x4 pickup you built and conquering The Big Island's backroads was the challenge. @@WolfPacOutdoors
Is this the same truck that got cratered in DVNP?
It is... stretched straight and gusseted inside and out of the frame.
Love your build. Glad to see it back on the road after the incident in DVNP. I have a 2019 Tundra Double Cab and add things to my project list every time you post a video. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Thanks Bennett 🤙 since DVNP I’ve added a few bits to it, so it seemed right to put a new video out. Next thing on my list is replacing the seals on the rear locker 😅 thanks again for all your support 🙏
Just looks like a normal day of rain in Portsmouth and Norfolk VA 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Such a dope rebuild! Pumped to see Everest make the ultimate comeback!
A few more weeks and I’ll have the first edit out from the Great Divide and the hurricane we survived 😉
It goes without saying, this shouldn’t be attempted unless you know what you’re doing.
no doubt... don't think you can do this with any car or truck... after I went across another fella tried it in a dodge 1500 extra cab and got pushed 10+ feet by the force of water against his truck, no bs I thought he was cooked when it started happening.
whats so special about yours? any truck with a snorkel, tires and a lift would probably be fine.@@WolfPacOutdoors
Damnn that’s crazy fr
Look at those sliders putting in the work. Cant wait to get mine
I love these sliders, every now and again I’ll hit em with a little rustolium but so far bullet proof 🤙
Thanks for a video packed with useful information. Does your 4WC have the stock AC/12v fridge? I'm wondering if I could easily plug it into a 12V source like a Lithium/solar battery if the coach battery dies, without turning the inverter on--does the fridge have a cigarette-lighter style cord, and can it be made accessible without pulling out the fridge? Thanks again for a video with a great signal to noise ratio!
Hey Tyrion, Thanks for the questions. The fridge is (I believe) the 86L 120AC/12DC and its stock. As for easily plugging it in, no. It's wired directly to a fuse panel which is then relayed to the main batteries. Your best bet would be to have lithium as your house batteries and use something like a redarc manager 30 with solar inputs to keep things topped off when remote camping. Although there are many ways to skin this cat that's my .02. Possibly you could splice into the wires from the back of the fridge and install a pigtail with a 12v plug or somewhere between the fridge and the fuse block. But if you were to do that you'd want to make sure that you aren't backfeeding the entire system unintentionally. That would be done by turning the fridge fuse off when on backup power. Austin
Are you still happy with it? Any issues with maxing out the tundra payload ?
Hi Don, What a loaded question… I’m happy with most of it. I still love the camper and I love the truck. The combo has been a struggle, but also I expected too much out of the build overall. I believe in the long run it would have been more cost-beneficial to build on a 1ton. The tundra does fine with the weight, it’s only struggle is the rigidity of the frame. Then again, I did have to hit a washout at 55 to bend it. Hope this helps. Austin
