I actually got a gecko after this vid dropped, its the perfect enclosure and I have the correct parameters for him, however I woke up this morning and he had injured his nose! Idk if it was nose rub or if he bumped it from jumping. Is this common? What do you reccomend?
@ncgreptilesАй бұрын
With limited information it is hard to say what happened. A new gecko in a new environment is stressful. Make sure your gecko is in a quiet place and nothing outside the enclosure is scaring your little gecko. Make sure there are plenty of hiding places and visual barriers. Keep an eye on it and watch its behavior. Contact the person you purchased the gecko. I'm sure they would have plenty of helpful advice. I don't see this very often and would reach out to others and get some collective recommendations.

Ive been thinking about this a lot lately. My 6-month Gargoyle is in a 67 Gallon 36x18x24 bioactive setup. He does hide during the day, and sometimes we cant even find him. I am using a Wise camera to monitor him at night, and he explores every inch of the enclosure. He jumps all over the place and seems to be trying more and more daring leaps as time goes on. In line with the video, he doesn't eat super often, but is not losing weight. I do wonder if he is occupied and stimulated enough to only eat when necessary, versus eating out of boredom in a smaller enclosure. I know breeders like geckos to put on weight faster, but after seeing how much my little guy explores and jumps, I dont think I could put him in a 12x12. Its easy to think these animals don't move around much if you only observe during the day, but get an IR camera and watch what they do at night. Some of his jumps are 6 plus inches from branch to branch, so a 12x12 just wouldn't provide enough space for that after adding plants and hardscape.

You do you they’re your animals, and I’m sure one of your geckos if not each of your geckos is worth more than my whole collection put together. I just love cresties they are my family I’m not a breeder and don’t get the newest hottest morphs as most of mine are rescues and or morphs that peopled dumped off to make room for the new money makers, but I’ve been keeping them as well as other reptiles and amphibians for decades but i would never or never recommend put any kind of adhesive inside an enclosure especially a humid one as over time it will become a problem at least in my experience and or experiences I’ve read over the years on the old forums. I had a cricket breeder tank when i was a lot younger that i had packing tape to keep them from climbing out the top and it took awhile but eventually fell and became as you said become a really big glue trap. Normally to cover a vent i use micro pore tape if not other means on the outside and put tape sticky to sticky that covers the vent part so its not sticky against the holes and then make the sticky part of the top layer bigger so it sticks to enclosure outside around the holes you’ll have little gaps unless you really make a perfect seal for airflow and micro pore tape itself even sealed although I don’t recommend fully sealed will also let air flow. Hopefully that made sense. Love the channel not talking smack just looking out for the stars of the channel other than the human kid😂 and really like to see your cool morphs❤

Thank you so much for the additional information. I agree with what you have mentioned. I believe everyone should use caution with using anything adhesive inside an enclosure. Congrats, bro! Coolass geckos there. Super psyched to see what you do with these projects. I inquired with Feedle and LM about getting some geckos and it was easy imo. I will likely do an import at some point as well. People doing this are likely buying multiple animals, which makes it worth it when the shipping is higher. I was told I could get up to 5 geckos for the shipping price quoted, which is reasonable coming from ASIA. lol If you're trying to build a project from the ground up (babies, juveniles) or buy up to 5 adults/subadults to hit the ground running, it can be a solid option. The savings on the animals offsets the increase in shipping too, imo...enjoy, bro! Love your videos...✊
