I hope the new version of the client will have a tool to automatically replot to modern HD or SSD format, replacing the old plots over time, with no GPU requirement. Takes 3 months or whatever, fine!

So... Will be the same weight value for old plots than new ones? How much compression will be possible? When plots will stop compressing? So... Where is proof of space and time going? Looks like the project is going to be just GPUs mining in the future and the reason for XCH to exist was to avoid GPU... What a shame

If I'm not mistaken, as far as I understand everyone will need to switch to the new plot format within the next 6 months or so, and SSD's are going to be able to store more compressed plots compared to HDD's. Meaning my farm will probably become useless, and the project will shift from using spare old drives. Am I missing anything?
No. The SSD plot file format will be about 12% smaller than the same HDD format. That means that economically, SSDs will remain non viable for years. However, in the future, SSDs will flip HDDs for total cost of ownership when you factor in power over time. So in 7-12 years people will want to use the SSD version. For the short to medium term HDDs will remain king.
plot files for only ssd ? How can you do this without asking farmers? You made people buy a large 18TB HDD and now you're going to tell them to buy an SSD instead?

I think the chia network project should integrate bitcoin and make it layer 2, with the chia chain coin being layer 1 because using utxo together should be possible. It will allow bitcoin to be sent at a low fee and you can use your project to raise the level as well.
