    By pH paper do you mean litmus? And NaOH and HCl would give two different colors if you mean litmus acids give a red color and bases give a blue color

    NaOH is a base and HCl is an acid. The indicator is the universal indicator solution. It shows which solutions are acidic and which are basic.

    @@samaalhayah3476 A test for proteins involves Biuret solution which is a solution of CuSO4 and NaOH. That is a different solution than what I am using here. Biuret solution turns purple in the presence of protein. Hope that helps!
