Got cold up in the valley fairly quick Bill. But wow it's summer now but you wouldn't think it. Have you been back since? It's been an extensive journey you searching up there. But as you said it's been a fantastic process on many levels. Re-the tent it looks a cracker - big enough but not to sprawling. I trust you're well out there and Stella is holding up. All the best old mate. Mark

@@pravinbhaifultariya1509 It happened so suddenly, no real warning signs BUT I must admit the parrot sounded a little raspy when breathing about two months before the illness started but that went away. I searched online into parrots with this fungal infection and it appears some parrots have the fungal infection lying dormant in their system ready to suddenly appear for no apparent reason. Sadly there is no real cure, vets can only suggest oxygen but of course that’s not a long term solution

It's surprising just how many people have gone missing in the Scottish Highlands. There is a reason i always let someone know my route when i walk alone. But i have also invested in a Garmin satellite device for my next walking trip to the Highlands

@@ianwatson194 A great decision regarding the personal locator beacon, I wish more people would carry one. The outstanding cases of people missing in the Scottish Highlands all seem to have a strange mixture of twists and turns that led to their disappearance. There is a lot more going on that I just can’t put my finger on. Bodies found in areas that have been searched multiple times both with dogs, helicopters and ground search teams. It just doesn’t add up. I know some conspiracy groups will say ufo’s, foul play or some kind of portals, I don’t think it’s anything as crazy as that but I do believe it’s more than hikers just getting lost.

The question is simply ‘do you believe the story’ ? Because I did at first but came across so many contradictions and variations that warning flags were coming up day by day. For example; 1. What was Neil going to do for 5 days alone at the loch, taking into account his age, he’s known to wander and get lost plus he has health issues? 2. If he’s known to wander then why would anyone leave him alone for 5 days? 3. The two friends have not spoken to anyone except the police, they didn’t turn up for the Hike for Neil Meet, why? 4. Why put posters up showing someone ten years younger of age when the family had recent photographs of Neil? 5. Why say Neil is a regular mountain walker and wild camper when in reality Neil had trouble walking the 5 miles to Loch Dochard? 6. Why state the weather was bad those days when in reality the weather was warm and sunny, it only turned on the day the alarm was raised? 7. Since when have people on a five day hiking/camping break decide to leave their dry tent, walk out into torrential rain, turn back at this first sign of rain, walk uphill in this pouring rain, then conduct a search in really bad weather, walk back to their car, completing an estimated 11 miles over 4 to 5 hours, to raise the alarm BUT bypassing a farm only a mile from Loch Dochard that is clearly sign posted. Then walk by several lodges/houses, again where they could raise the alarm, to arrive at their car at Victoria Bridge Car Park, to then drive to the nearby hotel to finally raise the alarm. It just doesn’t make sense at all. Trust me there is so much more I could say but I would be writing on here for days So the only other alternative is to question the story

Clashgour hut was the school at one time. Not many pupils I suspect.

I know, crazy when you think about it, but it served its purpose well so I have heard. And the kids of today moan about walking to the bus stop, imagine fighting your way to this little hut in winter weather or fighting off the midges in summer lol

It’s a lovely area, feels remote, every time I have visited I have either had storms or blizzards

I've owned a pair of Meindl boots for over 30yrs. I agree with you. During the summer months here in Nebraska they would be warm. But they hold up to almost anything. They have tremendous ankle support and comfort. I really like my Dovre boots and here in the USA they cost quite a bit more so I appreciate being able to get them in Europe. Thanks and keep up the great work. If you want to be disappointed buy a pair of the equivalent of them from the USA too narrow and cold.

Good to hear a positive review of the boots because after my first post over a year ago I received several negative replies regarding how bad their Dovre boots had been. I have nothing but praise for them, never let me down.
