Dude you gotta learn how to pronounce Indian names properly or at least make an attempt to do so. Seriously, a third of the tech leaders have Sanskrit origin names like Nikhil or Sundar… least you can do is learn how to pronounce them, these are just 2 syllables mate

Hi Nikhyl, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your advice. It’s some of the best I found in years. Your past experiences and your understanding of human psychology sets it apart. Thank you again!

this is brilliant!! thank you!!! I've been struggling as a Jr PM when I was moved to a PM role that was open. I am very aware of my lack of technical/domain expertise but I'm good at design and couldn't figure out what was not clicking, leadership is also very uptight and anxious since we have a working product that needs to scale. Seems I'm a crafter and a bit of growth PM. I can clearly identify my coworker who is an engineer with domain expertise turned PM and he adds so much value.

Long time listener, first-time caller. I enjoy your podcast, but this episode is difficult to listen to because of the number of voice-over edits. It's like someone else's voice They audibly sound different from the rest of your spoken words and it takes me out of the stream of thoughts. It makes it hard to follow along. I had to stop and hunt down a place to send this feedback. I listen on Spotify so with audio-only it really stands out. I'm going to give it another try because I really wanted to hear the message.

Update: I got past it and I enjoyed the episode. I like the video version better, so I'm glad I came here from Spotify. Thank you! P. S. I wanted to mention that the audio problem is not unique. I've faced the problem myself with audio recordings, so I know what you'd have to wrestle with to solve it. Truly thankful for your podcast. Cheers!

Very great insight! I just curious do you think this guy is coachable? Not everybody is Jobs and Jobs is always right because he gets it right by letting others convincing him. This guy actually is not that smart as he thought. Maybe he needs some real failure to accept your advice, you cannot get everything without trade-off. What do you think?

Thanks for this episode, Nikhyl! This helps. I'm now at the end of a six-months pause as PM, and getting back to the job market looks daunting in the middle of a third wave of layoffs. It think your content helps to differentiate my profile and keep growing. Take care!

I always appreciate your sage advice Nikhyl! One question I have relates to the timeline of the career story. You spoke about an individual project at one company, while a career spans many companies and projects. Is there a specific reason for this?

Excellent tips here on the importance of authenticity for connection, especially the point about coming to the conversation with specific questions. This was something I missed early in my career - I'd set up time, but I would not do enough homework. Then, I'd only have vague questions that I had hoped would develop into a specific topic to explore during the conversation itself ("just get them talking and then I'll find something to hone in on"). Being prepared with specifics goes much further when trying to build connections, whether you're on the asking or receiving end.
