  I worked at a soda bottling/canning plant in my younger days. Always always ALWAYS clean the tops of your cans. Between walking on them, stacking dirty pallets on them, rats doing Everything that they could do on them, etc (and that's just before they leave the plant).🫣 Take it from me, 😎 You're gonna want to wash those off. Plastic bottles🤷🏻‍♂️ not nearly so much to worry about

  You also must realize a lot of cans sit in warehouses until they are delivered to our local grocery stores and usually in warehouses you may have field mice that house in Warehouse buildings that may urinate on cans. But not only with cans when you bring things in from the grocery store you should be wiping everything down.

  To answer your question yes you must wash any top of any can whether it's a soda can or just opening a can of corn etc.

  Yes. Rodents are in grocery stores and poop everywhere, things sit on top of them. You should wash them.

  Absolutely. Some stores store their items in a room where they have a pet cat. Most stores are prone to having rats or mice that crawl all over packages and can’t.
