Its almost like a different person from the pianist he is in Scriabin orRavel. The lushness,the lines of his Chopin require a different dound from him. Pogo is the most perfect in his Bach and Scarlatti i think any of us will ever hear!

Glenn Gould never had this perfect control and the sound is so German and stolid. A type of cold ,never sentimental or flowery! Even Tureck didnt get this directness almost unpianistic totally unRomanticized ideal in her playing! This is truly fine. The Scarlatti is so perfect i dont believe its possible on a single piano. I believe its studio perfecting. Its impossible to get a Scarlatti both Michelangeli and Horowitz come nowhere near it! I wonder if either ever heard this genius!!@???

Help! I can't stop listening. I want to hear every note this guy plays. It's as if he's a conduit from the composer directly to the listener. No discernable ego or personal idiosyncrasies to distract from the music. Pure and difficult to pull off. Truly as good as it gets, imho. Humphrey Burton, director, knows how to pick 'em. Burton also has some wonderful vids w/ Vienna Phil among others.

Perfection expressing the noble task of being human : Bach - Pogorelich
@johnfoerster75339 ай бұрын
I've had a mixed experience with this. I really- really- admire Pogorelich. I cannot stop listening to his interpretation of the Liszt B minor sonata for example. However, here, especially in the Beethoven sonata, there is a curious lack of nuance- for example, the repetitious motif of the first theme- does it have to be 'clone' like repetitious, not slightly nuanced? or, in the same theme, once the quite "cantilena" song-like motif is reached, can it not be a bit more - well- melodious? there are other passages like that but overall, imagining to sit through this in a concert hall I'd feel left a bit empty and devoid of emotion. Not sure if it's me but it doesn't do anything even close as his exploring of Chopin or Liszt. Bit disappointing.

"Simplicity is the highest goal, achievable when you have overcome all difficulties. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art." Chopin. ---- "Under the fingers of Chopins´s hand the piano became the voice of an archangel, an orchestra, an army, a raging ocean, a creation of the universe, the end of the world." Solange Clesinger. --- "Chopin´s playing evoked all the sweet and sorrowful voices of the past. Chopin sang the tears of music...in a whole gamut of different forms and voices, from that of the warrior to those of children and angels..." Bohdan Zaleski, polish poet, personal diary 2 feb 1844. Fight to achieve quality, go deeper... find the origin of the sound. --- You have to get into the phycological frame of mind in which composers wrote their works in order to discover its secrets. One should always try as much as possible to rediscover music as though one is hearing it for the first time, searching everywhere for new meanings and new depths. The highest function of the artist is to release the spirituality and the emotional immediacy that lie within the score. A composition can only be performed well if it is entirely yours, not only every note from memory, but the notes have become you, and you have become the notes. Fight and find the substance, then go to the higher spheres. Music takes you to another universe of eternity that remains with you after the concert is finished. Ivo Pogorelich. ---
