  Does Victoria keep all of the Jj richards from other councils that they previously owned. If they do are they all full time or are all of them spares?

  @@lachlanwynn163 depends on their age/condition or whether any other depots/ councils need more trucks. Some previous councils will have some kept for other councils or some may not even have any kept. most of the older Yarra ranges trucks went to Dandenong full time because they needed more trucks. but older trucks from former contracts usually either get scrapped or become spares.

  This one came around to collect Melton garbage at my place on Wednesday. The Knox part of the logo was covered with a white bit of paper. Was surprised to see it!

  @@RSPGarbo all the old knox trucks have been replaced by the volvos, but i think a few like this one have stayed behind and move between depots as spares

  Is it just me or have I never seen a Whittlesea sulo greenwaste bin with a mastec lid for a replacement? Do they replace bins with sulo lids or only mastec lids?

  i’ve seen lots actually. mastec is the current contractor for bins around whittlesea, so if your green waste bin breaks you’ll get a mastec lid as a replacement.

  @@northerngarbo so does that mean if my sulo glass bin lid comes off I will get a mastec lid on it? Because mastic lids don’t fit on sulo bins do they? Just wondering as my glass bin lid has snapped.

  @@user-ol3hu3kh4p yep, so if your lid comes on your glass bin you’ll get a mastec lid in return because mastec now have the contact for glass bins as well. since the mastec 120ls have different handles that don’t fit with other lid brands they have a different design of lid to put on different brands like sulo, you can find those on the red lids that a old sulo will have a mastec lid with the different design handle.

  Yeah i quite like it to be honest, something different compared to a usual ex melton, was confused cause Som’ had another ex yarra recycling 1450 but that left so i was confused to see this one back in whittlesea. i didn’t know it was shared with derrimut, probably explains why my recycling driver said his normal truck was in another yard

  What happened to the old gro trucks

  the council used to run the kerbside collections. which is when they started their ‘gro’ campaign in 2003 for their new 3 bin system, so they put that signage on their trucks. but since they put the contract up in 2020 jjs got the contract and so they either scrapped the old trucks or out them up for sale. the single axle gro truck 86 was actually kept for a little while to to litter bins and weekly garbage services.

  so 17DH which is what this driver usually drives broke down twice in two weeks, so i suppose all those newer volvo spares were being used and they rarely take out those ex meltons except 11DN. probably one of those newer spares were on glass

  Some of the new Volvo's at the Somerton yard are the new FOGO trucks for Hume and others are spares for Whittlesea,Nillumbik and Hume

  Thanks, yes i’ve got some opportunities to put the go pro on different angles this week so i’ll look into that - the hopper cam is my main priority and think about doing it on the glass truck
