    I always seem to turn back to my mpc1k. I’ve had the live and X but there’s just something special about the 1k especially with the jjosXl. There’s a couple tricks that even the new Mpc’s can’t do. The 1k with a Sp404 is magic.

    ay man Was thinkin of buying this mpc The reviews online aren’t the best for it - saying samplings slower than other systems and the workflows slow But I’m in love with the appearance and portability of it Was wondering your advice? If it’s worth avoiding it and saving up for a different system or if you think it’s actually alright

  • @nervouscooks
    @nervouscooks7 күн бұрын

    @@gmsp if you do a lot of sample chopping you might find it frustrating compared to other samplers. You’re right though, it looks great and it’s soo easy to take places. Check out my other video if you haven’t already where I show you the quickest way to sample chop on it. You can then decide if it’s for you. I’m not sure where you are in the world but here in the UK they don’t sell for huge amounts. I picked this one up for £120 so I bought it just to keep in my collection. Sometimes I don’t want to chop stuff up and just use one shots with the chromatic mode or a good loop I sampled. It’s very capable for pretty much everything it’s just the chopping that is slower than other devices. I’m quite patient though and don’t mind a slower process if I’m having fun. 👍🙂

  • @gmsp
    @gmsp7 күн бұрын

    @@nervouscooks ah true Here is Aus I found one for $459 / £230 I’d be doing the same I reckon with the one shots and that hey. Thinking about getting either the mpc500 or MpcOne - but unfortunately don’t have enough for the one at the moment but by my understanding the 500 kinda has most of the features of the new mpc software but just harder to operate? I reckon id be putting splice samples on it etc if that’s possible The screens on the one / new mpc systems are nice, how you can move sounds on the grid so easily but I really like the portability and idea of the mpc500 Sorry I know that might be a long read lol but heavily appreciate ya response will check out that video N big ups Man U put me onto koala awesome koala tutorials / cook ups🙏🏻

  • @nervouscooks
    @nervouscooks6 күн бұрын

    @@gmsp I think the One is a lot more sophisticated. They do share some features but the One is a lot more user friendly and has a bunch of modern conveniences. You can load up splice sounds directly with a One. If they were my two choices, I’d go One personally. It’s pretty future proof, way more features and sample chopping is a breeze. If a 500 comes up dirt cheap then ok but I’d save for a One. I have the One + and it’s a beast. Not as portable as a 500 but honestly think about how often you would actually use it outside. I always thought I would but I rarely do. 🙂

    Is this the way to make alchemist type beats? Im completely new to all of this and overwhelmed with all the information. Alchemist is my favorite producer and inspired me to start.

  • @nervouscooks
    @nervouscooks8 күн бұрын

    @@ExecutionerHopkins you could definitely make Alchemist style beats with this app. The Alchemist uses an older MPC 2500 but this application has a lot of the same features. A couple of things to bear in mind… the Alchemist has an amazing ear! He uses sampling and has a knack for picking out or chopping up good samples. The gear isn’t that important really. Sometimes he makes complex layered beats and sometimes just uses a really good loop. Try not to overthink it and just start listening and learning with whatever app, DAW or hardware you prefer. Keep it simple to start and train your ear for good samples. It’s ok to admire the Alchemist, he’s one of my favourite producers too and I actually met him in London. Really nice guy. You might start out trying to emulate him but ultimately you want to take what you can learn from him and develop your own style even if it has a bunch of influence from him. After all there’s only one Alchemist and only one you but that’s how most start out. I’m sure the Alchemist said his early beats sounded like DJ Premiere until he developed his own thing. We all take influence from someone but you need to harvest that and grow it into something unique! 👍🙂
