@@Striker50_ On the third day after a long walk under the sun I felt it. I believe I would've died, if I hadn't taken a hot shower. I wanted to scream of pain, I found a video that saved me. I didn't care about how paradoxical it sounded, I didn't care about anything and just went for it. After a ten-minute shower I was alive and feeling good. I noticed that burnt skin came off. I guess that's why it was itchy. I'm not here to argue, I'm just trying to help somebody. You can try it too, if/when it happens again. Believe me, you won't die.

Thank you for this! I also notice the hells itch gets activated when I start sweating. Do you think a weekly peeling/scrubbing could prevent this a bit?

  • @Striker50_

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 What's probably happening is that blood is near the surface of your skin on your sweating. It causes a vasodilation. What worked for me this summer that I tested is sitting in the sun for 10 minutes at a time, several times so that when I finally did go in the sun for a full day I didn't get devilish anymore. I noticed I would get devil's hitch when I hadn't been in the sun for months and then all of a sudden I would get blasted for hours with the sun

I've had it 2 weeks ago: 2 days after the sunburn the first major wave hit. Initially thought it's just some skin irritation as this is not uncommon for me. After some time though the itch progressed and finally reached pure pain. Indeed it is true: panic takes over. The pain is similar to simultaneous biting of some fierce insects and hot needles going through the bare surface of the skin. At a certain point I thought that this is what being burned alive must feel. Once the first wave was over I knew this had to be something of clinical significance but didn't look it up yet. The second wave hit at night and man was that painful. I already was tired and sleepy but of course couldn't lie down. I found that ibuprofen and taking a cold shower (I know some people used hot or lukewarm) helped enormously. I didn't have anti histamines so that was all I could do. Going into the shower every 20 minutes. Weirdly, the water felt cold (as it was set to cold) on any unaffected area but it was lukewarm when it hit the affected area. Out of desperation I made a bicarbonate (backing powder) paste in between showers and applied it to the affected area (thank you wife). It worked but not sure if it was because the itch was already receding. Don't want to go through this again. Don't wish it for anyone.

Got Hell’s Itch for the third and last time I swear. I will never not wear sunscreen again. I never knew what to do the first few times I got it, was in agony for days crying myself to sleep and punching walls screaming. Took pain killers and used aloe not realizing it was making the itch worse. This time I did Benadryl and Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen and managed to sleep through most of it. Showers are exactly what you say, temporary relief that makes it much worse when you get out. Ice Cold bath did help a bit while waiting for effects to kick in. But what I realized after all the pills started kicking in was that moving in any way was triggering the itch for me. (Skin gets stretched or touched by something) So trying to stay still and tough it out eventually the itch died down. But really just keep popping the pills every 4-6 hours and sleep through it is the only way to survive. Heard peppermint oil worked for a lot of people but never tried it myself. Going to a hospital for gabapentin prescription is another others have said worked for them. Good luck to anyone going through this. It will end, be strong 💪

A lot of long-term Birkenstock wearers dislike the soft footbed because it starts off softer and more cushioned, but then gets worse over time as it breaks down. Whereas the standard footbed is the reverse: starts off harder and a bit less comfortable, but molds better and lasts longer. The soft footbed also adds a bit of height and that in turn impacts the overall width. It's minimal but if you already have a bit of tightness at the sides, the soft footbed can make it worse.
