  I remember working with 3d, probably more then 20 years ago now. I remember a good way to learn was the available tutorials, making flowers and other corny objects wasn't exactly the thing you wanted to do, but each tutorial taught you a useful technique that you later could use on your own objects that you wanted to do. I remember I could watch an object in real life and go through it in my head how to re-create every section of it in 3d, and when I later did it on the computer it was like I already had everything laid out for me., so cool, but I gave up on 3d later on.
