You will not see any damage from 2011 earthquake and tsunami around the city center, because there was non. However two districts close to the sea were totally swept away and there is nothing left there until today except for a hudge concrete wall protecting the coastal area, some agricultural land and the Arahama Elementary School which is a memorial and museum. Of course Sendai ist not only the railway station and the port, there are quite a few very nice spots to see, old temples, the Date Masamune Mausoleum, the largest Buddha statue in Japan etc.

That "hollowness" to the sound is the result of the fake-stereo processing this station was using on mono material, made even worse when played in mono as it is here.

Expect the USGS and Caltech to release the current data on which Los Angeles area faults are at the highest risk of having a 6.7 and above quake in the next 20-30 years approximately. I remember the USGS said stuff about "The Next Hayward Fault" quake in Northern California is overdue for an earthquake and they had a probability very high in the range of decades. But then again between today and the next big one we will get hit with quakes on previously unknown faults. In an unrelated example the 2014 6.0 Napa/American Canyon quake took place on a previously unknown fault which later became known as the West Napa Fault once more data was released on that one. That quake warned Northern California that its not just the Hayward and San Andreas faults that pose a threat during a quake.

Crazy to think its been 30 years since the Northridge quake. In that quake specifically I seen clips of Caltech at the time said it was on a previously unrecognized fault in the San Fernando Valley and was within the same general area as the 1971 Sylmar quake.

I remember watching these two doing the news casts a lot. Lived in North Highlands at the time. I didn't feel it (was driving on the freeway at the moment) but I remember seeing home videos of pools in Sacramento tossing water for several feet away from the pool. Some parents of swim team members from Foothill High School went to the World Series game and when the pool water started splashing the team coach joked that SF was having an earthquake. Imagine how he felt when he heard that there really was a quake.

He was a best radio station.. I grew up listening to KFC. 60s. I live in Sonoma County. Redwood area. I was only too well accurate with my grandfather. Didn't learn too much for men but I missed the rest of my family that lived in Southern California. But the music on kfrc then got me through. I had transistor radios in . Summer times are great riding my bicycle. Those Country Roads listening to kfrc.👍🏽🤙🏾🤘🏾. I sure miss those years. Can I still listen to oldies give me the fifties and sixties. Great times. And if I can find a station where I live at still listen to that old songs. Except for nowadays you listen to always in there from the seventies eighties and nineties they're crap and only for me. I really have no Mideast mostly country. I don't care for it unless it was from the fifties severely sixties. Santa Rosalia kpls. 🤙🏾🤘🏾👍🏽🙋🏽♂️😊😎
