Watching Unity grow reminded me so much of my late Border Collie Skye, she taught herself to alert to my asthma without any one telling her, she and I were inseparable, at 5 years old she took a severe reaction to a new booster vaccination, and had to be put down, the WORST day of my life, I was broken before I had her and she held me together and kept me alive. 2 weeks later my husband said you’re not coping and we need to find a helper. I’d had a springer before Skye. We stumbled on a Sprocker Spaniel litter, pups just born at 2 weeks old and went to see the boy. Meg had other ideas, she’s now 7 years old, but Skye is with us everyday and at times I swear her spirit has taught meg spirits of Skye’s quirks! Meg has now taught herself to help with my pain, I get extreme pain and cannot take any pain meds, Meg keeps me from spiralling and when she senses it she is determined to help and does! Dogs are amazing. I wish I had your skill to have trained meg as an official service dog. Trouble is U.K. laws are very different. ❤ thank you for the smile, I hope you ah e many years of companionship and adventures and support ❤

She had a short haired parents? Im curious, because as a puppy, she definitely seemed like a normal long-haired border collie.

I enjoyed every moment of your video. I wonder why your dog was not afraid of cars or agitated by them. Our BC always chases cars so we cannot let her go without leash.

My dog died today, 29.04.2023 15:10, I already miss her. She slowly died away, She was 13 or 14 years old, She was blind, she wasn't barking properly anymore, she wasn't breathing , She was partially deaf and she got extremly skinny. And yes we tried to feed her. What I want to say, it's that She was my childhood dog, we had her since I was at the kindergarten (sorry for misspelling) and now I'm a teen. She tried to protect us at all costs. Maybe, press f in the comments if you want. R.I.P. Panda 2009 - 2023

I'm getting an aussie shepherd service dog at the end of the year. I'm getting one for retrieval and mobility. It will be professionally trained like what you guys do. Are there any videos of Aussies being trained for these tasks or are working for their handler performing them?

Great video! I love boarder collies. I have two boarder colie mix dog's and they are the smartest best dogs in the world hands down. I really hope that you will not feed your dog whip cream or human food as I do truly believe that you will shave years off a dogs life by feeding human consumable food.

Our family had a male dog named Smokey too, but he wasn't a BC, just a 1/2 Black Russian Terrier, 1/2 Poodle. Smart too; he also used to climb on top of our station wagon and watch out for folks trying to break into our car. Smokey also walked up attic-liked steps to our tree house and walking back down as well. JackBNimble, our BC, went up a plastic sliding board and going down; he soon graduated to the metal one at my niece's ele. school. After that, he played Border Collie Soccer with anyone-no rules, just fun.

Ears are special in our BCs! My first girl-Gem-had flat ears as she was 1/2 Aussie, 1/2 BC. My Tess's right ear was straight up while her left ear stuck out Port (left). Her son JackBNimble's stood straight up, but often leaned back. His girlfriend's ears stayed up, and her cousin/BFF Gypsy Rose Lee was a red/white with 1/2 pricked ears and a right blue eye and left brown eye. The 2 girls were my last BCs I was able to own due to health concerns, but if I were able, I'd adopt an older, retired BC female who needs love and companionship.

Hey! So actually there isn’t a standard for border collie height, that being said size varies significantly! Most border collies tend to be in the mid 20-50lb size range! Very rare I see either out of that size category but it does happen! Unity seems tiny for a lot but she actually weighs the same and is close in height to a lot of the sport/working well bred border collies I know! Females tend to be 20lb-40lb and Males I’ve seen 30lb-60lb!
