This is exactly how I've been doing it for a couple of decades. Pike is my favourite fish when prepped this way. Well done video!

I don't even bother removing the y bones cause they are so easy to remove when eating. (We oven bake it in tin foil)I fillet it like normal and cut the fillet in thirds and freeze. Your video is by far the best I've seen on removing the y bones

I’ll have to try your method. Have some people who hate bones and won’t eat it if they find them so use this way to appease them.

nice job. good to see a guy using a simple rapala blade, you dont need a 70$ knife. also the way you did not skin it too close to the skin is smart. leave that fishy smell on the skin.

For even better tasting and less mess when cleaning, bleed your fish in cold water for about 10 minutes before filleting.

I've heard that and have been meaning to try it but didn't want a mess in the boat or live well. I'll give it a try next season. Thanks for the tip and for watching!

You can adjust the separation to fit whatever card size you have

Thanks for the reply. Do you think I could fit a full 52 card deck and tuck box?

@@whywar6358 I'm not sure what a tuck bock is but I would maybe do 4 rows with space for 13 cards each (8 sections of j-channel and then maybe a shadow box for the tuck box?

In my country which is Sweden pike is the catch and release only fish. They always complain about it tasting like slime but I think it’s delicious my favorite fish I caught my first pike. It was a really small one, but I decided to eat it and then I was skeptical, also caught, some, perch, I started with tasting the perch which we all know what taste like and then I tried the pike and I was flabbergasted
