  I always admired the Pakistan team that won the World Cup in Argentina and retained it four years later in India. And that 1978 World Cup winning team captained by Islahuddin won all their matches including a 3-2 victory over Holland in the final.Earlier Pakistan had also beaten Holland 3-1 in a group match. That 1978 team that triumph in Buenos Aires had stars such as Islahuddin,Akhtar Rasool,Manzoorul Hassan.Shahnaz Shaik and Mansoor Junior. That 1982 team was also good scoring a lot of goals including a 12-3 beating of New Zealand with stars such as Samiulllah,Kalimullah,Hanif Khan,Hassan Sardar and Islahuddin.

  India always reminisced about their 1975 World Cup victory in Kuala Lumpur some 44 years ago.But remember Pakistan despite trailing India in Olympic gold medals won in hockey have claimed the World Cup four time winning in 1971,1978,1982 and 1994.Need I say more that Pakistan achievement in the World Cup surpasses that of India?

  I think india hockey went down after they started to humilliate Sikhs in punjab... all indian hockey creme came from indian punjab and they lost sikhs there.

  Indian team still has more sikhs than any others. And we do not "humiliate" Sikhs in India: rather we honor them. Our PM was a Sikh for many years, though Sikhs are only a 2% community in India. If this is what you Pakistanis call "humiliation" then we should exchange dictionaries :-)

  Post 1947 Olympics, India won Gold 5 times, Silver 1 time and Bronze 2 times. Pakistan won Olympic Gold 3 times, Silver 3 times and Bronze 2 times. India's Olympic record is better than that of Pakistan if one feels like comparing two Hockey Giants. In World Cup Pakistan have a better record - Pakistan won the World Cup 4 times and Indian 1 time. No doubt both nations were giants of Field Hockey but unfortunately no more. I love the game of Hockey and that without hatred towards any nation. Better teams win matches. Enjoy the game.

  I think it's quite a wonderful clip though it's rather difficult to track where the ball is. However, the names of the sixteen players are put on record but it'll be nice if everyone can see the player's names and the photos of these great champions individually. They deserve universal recognition.

  That was the historic wrong decision by impaer Vijay Nathan of Malaysia for winning goal by Ashok Kumar in fact that was not a goal the ball was hit to goal post not cross the goal line but impaer wrongly awarded goal.
