  Thank you. Things went sideways with the first lock I tried to re-key. With the help of your video, I was able to take it apart and fix it in just a few minutes. And then once I understood how it works, I was able to use the little tool to properly re-key every other lock set on my estate.

  Using similar idea learned ftom this video, i managed to open a good quality 10 button Zarker lock that i failed to open for last 16yrs. Now it can be used again. Thks.

  For better quality Zarker button lock made in Korea, it will be very difficult to trial as the opening lever will only work if the 5 numbers are correctly depressed. First press the opening lever. Then press button one by one. If one stuck, that's the button not inside the combination. Push it to normal after release the lever tension. Then press the lever again and continue with other buttons. Repeat until 5 numbers are left that can be depressed easily, that will be the magic number to open when you push the lever. Alternatively, depressed all buttons and try to push up button one by one. The one stuck is to be push up after release the lever tension. Then press the lever hard again and push other buttons up. Continue until left 5 numbers yet to push up, that will be the combination. There is no need to pull the shackle tight hard as many videos told.

  I have tried the video method but failed. So i tried another way by first pressing all buttons down. Push the open lever to release the lock hinge abit, and pull the lock hinge tight by hooking to something. Now press number button up one by one. There will be one that get stuck tightly. Release the hinge pulling, press up that button. Now repeat until you suddenly get the lock open itself when 5 right buttons are pressed up.

  You can do this without the shim, just remove the plug, rotate 90 degrees from the sidebar location and slowly pick the lock and push the plug straight in, insert your tool, throw new key and rotate bobs your auntie

  When inserting the new key a tiny metal ball fell out, bounced away and I couldn’t find it. So I continued anyways without the ball and it seems like the process was still a success. Well, I found the ball… is it important? Where does it go? New key is working in the door 🤷🏼‍♀️

  The way that worked for me is press it all down and unlock it. Try to reset the digits others will be soft and some are hard. Those hard ones have the possibility to be the code and it works

  I only been a locksmith for a year and a half and I’m sorry I’m not doing all that for someone’s smart lock lol, if they don’t have the key I’ll pick it open make the lock think it was the original key, turn it 90 degrees, remove the key after using the smart tool, pull the key out and insert the new key, simple and done in about 5 minutes that’s too much work right there what he just did lol I respect it though good video

  thanks a million for the tutorial as the alternative was to buy a new lock simply to get the replacement core. Still not sure how the lock got set to random when I messed up the re-keying process. It was a lot easier then it looked at first.

  Thank you for the video. The process worked like a charm. I know the key I wanted to rekey to was not working prior, so I'm not sure why, but I put that key in just to see how it pushed the wafers up and I was able to slide the cylinder out; i.e. I didn't have to push the wafers down. It is a mystery.

  After disassembling the lock and reassembling the lock, because it was seasing, the lock doesn't turn. It did turn right after, but maybe I should make sure the holding pin holding the lock in-place isn't secured correctly. Either way, I will be following this

  i've tried but after a couple months the stickiness came back. ikea pencil inside an abus padlock. perhaps it's not soft enough
