😞 I was taught islam with a heavy emphasis on culture during my earlier years…which led me having alot of shame on practising the right things around family with the fear of being shamed. Even though their shaming stemmed from sheer ignorance …When I first started wearing hijab as a 14yr old..I was shamed by my family for being a “wahhabi” and my male cousins would forcibly try to shake my hands and laugh about it after because I once told them its not allowed in Islam for women to shake hands with non-mahram. Alhumdililah though I am much more confident now as an almost 30yr old and there is always a starting line! It will get easier with time. This video was soo on point. I’m also someone with a rich vivid imagination and it’s so true that we should treat our inner world as a physical environment. There’s this book “the body keeps the score” that comes to my mind. Just like you said, the things that happen in our mind affect our emotions and our body as if it was real and happened and when this is negative, it can lead to psychological and physical damage and keep us stuck in past (depression) or future (anxiety). Barakallahu feeki for sharing your thoughts🫶🏿✨

At the beginning of my spiritual journey, I wished I had the courage to wear the hijab just like you. There is a difference between someone trying to get closer to proper hijab taking the steps and doing what is in their capacity, then someone altering their hijab to be stylish. We don't know what is in anyone's heart. Its just between them and God. I wore mine loosely with long shirts and skinny jeans for while, it took a while, I needed exposer.. I had extreme anxiety of being seen as Muslim in public places. If people could see my internal struggle they would be happy and encouraging for me just to wear the scarf loosely. But Allah can see and Allah will celebrate you in the heavens Insha'Allah.
