I remember "picking up" Platinum one day in June 2023. I played it the same day, got somewhat uninterested, and stopped playing it. Fast forward to -after the depression- 2024, and I would start-up the game a couple times to no avail. Mainly just walking around the Oreburgh Mine with no purpose... Then in March I decided, enough was enough. Playing through the game for a few hours, beating the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gyms, picking up team members and actually having fun from a game I'd abandoned a while back. Come March 24, and I was suddenly (and somehow readily) prepared to take on Cynthia. And taking down that Garchomp was kinda surreal, not gonna lie (even if I did use a Weavile)! And using Heart Scales and such to improve my team, while a bit annoying, just made me grow a bit more fonder over my fictional creatures. Honestly, I think I just didn't prepare myself for this game if anything, cause I ended up liking it a lot in the end!
I also do think they tried to “modernize” the Wii, hence the name but if it had any other name without it, it might’ve felt more unique
The Wii U is a console most overlook or hate, it’s one that I actually grew up with a bit, the graphics were great, and I’m happy it’s getting at least SOME attention this year. With a modded 3ds and WiiU, you can play every main entry into all major Nintendo franchises (up until the switch games ofc)

Way better than DP? Yes, but DP shouldn't have been shipped in the state they were. Also you can't catch Misdreavus or Murkrow in Platinum, so =(
No wonder it took me like a year to beat Diamond back then due to how painfully slow it was. Platinum had a lot of improvements that i wished it was also released alongside BDSP but nope.

This is usually just in the west and in places where arcades stopped being popular. There are still alot of normal arcades in other countries like japan.
I loved HGSS, and I agree with everything you said. Honestly I don’t understand how people love Gold and Silver, but hate HGSS. Pretty much everything you listed made the games amazing, but also things like having a portable berry pot made things so much easier, I loved the different bottom screen themes you could choose from, loved the games graphics and location designs, the game had compatibility with the Sinnoh games and Battle Revolution, the Pokeathlon was very fun especially if you had people to play with, and it was a fun way to get points to buy things, and so much more. Of all Pokemon games HGSS feels like the game you can keep coming back to play even after you beat the game. Also, a lot of people like to complain about how there was a level curve and lack of Pokemon, but people always complain how Pokemon games weren’t challenging. Also despite the level curve, it’s still playable. Everyone’s experience is different and not everyone is the same, but for a game that’s challenging, a lot of people my age seemed to have completed the elite 4 at the very least just fine, and my age at the time was like 11. The game actually makes you train your Pokemon, and of course you can rematch trainers and they come back stronger. Also at that time online was a big thing, so it was nothing to trade with someone who had DPP games to get other Pokemon. It’s sad how these games have done so much and had so much content, and yet people complain about the little things and call it a bad remake. My only critique with the game really is that there was a lack of story with the legendaries, but this game feels like it’s supposed to have a more chill vibe, and I appreciate this game being different in that there wasn’t really that big of a major threat
Unfortunately, it is the one good game out of the six taking place in Sinnoh.

I first started on gameboy color with blue and crystal, then I got leaf green and emerald then I got diamond and heartgold for DS.
What makes me laugh every time is the amount of adults who get upset about the pokemon games when they are literally meant for 8-10 year olds. Yes I still play them but I understand I’m not the target audience they aren’t trying to make a game to cater to me.

I actually agree. Some of the most fun I've had playing pokemon was in my copy of Violet fighting the BB league. Kieran in that same dlc was a compelling antagonist (something the base game was lacking), and Karmine felt like a great rival bringing a sparky attitude none of the friend group from the main 3 stories had. Beyond even gen 9, though the isle of Armor was a fun experience working with Cubfoo to evolve, and Crown Tundra was the most fun I've ever had legendary hunting. People need to accept that DLC and online updates is simply the direction games have been going in for years as it's not sustainable to be make games that don't in the modern day, a great example being Elden Ring, people flocked back to that game when the DLC was first announced. I know pokemon has a formular I been playing since gen 3, but it's about time they adjusted to the new gaming industry and who knows we could at some point get the perfect pokemon game as a result.
They really went all out with the Giratina arrival on this one. Way better than just being into a random dungeon.

Gen 4 was the last time Game freak gave a shit. Platinum was the magnum Opus. Name a single game since Platinum that has been that complete. No DLCs or paired release. a Single very good game.
