    Please you should correct the error in the sample problem.. D= 1ml (s)/1mL (s)+ 3mL (d)= 1mL/4mL=1/4= 1:4 so you wrote D= 1mL (s)/1ml ( s) + 4mL ( d)= 1ml/4mL=1/4=1:4

    The whole point of using a pst or sst tube is avoiding the time and usage of pipetting. Just pop the top and pour the serum or plasma in the pour off tube after spinning.

  • @ClinicalLabScienceVideos
    @ClinicalLabScienceVideos5 ай бұрын

    Yes. Plasma separator or serum separator tubes can also be used to easily obtain plasma or serum. However, there are some tests in the clinical lab that may be affected by using these types of tubes. In these cases, it would be best to use a regular red top tube.

    I think the guy is transferring plasma not serum

  • @ClinicalLabScienceVideos
    @ClinicalLabScienceVideos7 ай бұрын

    It’s serum because the blood was allowed to fully clot before centrifugation. Also, plasma can only be obtained in tubes with anticoagulants like EDTA (purple-top tubes).

  • @ClinicalLabScienceVideos

    That's the RPM of the centrifuge we are using. But it's equivalent to 2000g for our centrifuge.

    Question, if you accidentally whole blood into the cartridge, what reading will it get?

  • @ClinicalLabScienceVideos
    @ClinicalLabScienceVideos Жыл бұрын

    It would depend on the manufacturer/type of test you’re using. Some cartridges allow for the use of whole blood or serum. In these cases, the test results will be the same with both samples.

    In RBC COUNT, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY TOP AND BOTTOM CHAMBER while you are saying we count 5 intermediate chambers? And why are you doing average of them with 2?

  • @ClinicalLabScienceVideos
    @ClinicalLabScienceVideos Жыл бұрын

    There are two counting chambers in the hemocytometer. They are separated by a channel in the middle of the hemocytometer. You need to count the cells in both. A 10% difference in the counts between the two chambers is indicative of faulty charging. In these cases, you need to repeat the charging process.
