    Plastic over the sofa! My great aunt used to do that Carey! I would spend many summer days there, and her window AC would make the plastic COLD. But after sitting there for a while, you start getting sweaty. That was an old memory from the 80s I had forgotten. 😂 Thanks for these reviews. The Mini PC world should get very interesting this Winter with the new mobile chips coming out. I just added new storage to my Beelink, using Team Group. Thanks for that! You mentioned their warranty and I emailed them. 3 years minimum, some products have 5 years. Im using their RAM and M.2 drives. Great stuff. I use the Beelink Ser5 Max and it does everything I need. I dont play games at all. Its a powerhouse for music production and video editing. Im rambling. Love your videos!

    Windows 11 keys are stored on Microsoft activation servers bases on the unique hardware hash of each pc. It has not been necessary to ever re-enter a product key for many years - since windows 10.

    Beginning rant: Backup your backup! Have a backup for the backup of your backup. 😂 After the first time I lost irreplaceable files, I started backing up everything in multiple places. You absolutely nailed it. Don't wait for the crisis.

    Forgot to add in my other comment: Performance mode on these little guys matters to me, but I run a DAW with digital instruments and video rendering. It isnt even connected to the Internet most times. That 3% matters then. But most people dont do that kind of work. I use the Beelink 5800H MAX. I upgraded the RAM. Works great for my purposes. Thanks for mentioning the thermal paste. Everyone says to upgrade it on my unit. It never goes past 80c. The liquid metal and fans are doing their job.

    The rant at the beginning... I think everyone should have to work in retail or customer service at some point in their lives. That way, they would know how to treat people. And understand how a business works. Running a shop myself, there were several customers that could never come back again, andnI would say GOOD! LOL.

    Hi Carey, The Alloy 9 was my first mini purchase a few months back. I really liked the machine but started becoming increasingly concerned about their product support since they weren't answering any of my support questions. I believe I asked 3 separate ones in total and directed those emails to their website support email address. I waited two weeks and decided since I hadn't heard back regarding any of them that I wasn't willing to gamble away close to $700 on a unknown computer which looked to have non-existent customer support. So off it went back to Amazon. I then started investigating minis more and thought the MinisForum UM790-Pro could fit the bill and looked very similar to the Alloy 9 offering. I felt much better about purchasing the MinisForum UM790-Pro through Amazon since MinisForum had the OS as well as drivers posted on there website for the UM790-Pro and answered their emails. I also discovered by comparing pictures that both machines use the exact same motherboard. It appears the Reatan Alloy 9 is a rebranded MinisForum UM-790-Pro. I do think both machines are excellent and feel much better about picking the one that responds to their customers!

    @flashbak01 58 minutes ago I chose the MinisForum UM790-Pro over this model because it has that second NVME Gen4 socket. The UM790-Pro also comes with a 2nd fan unit for memory. Otherwise with the exception of the SD Card reader the specs between the 2 machines are pretty similar although MinisForum supplies Window 11with their machine whereas the Geekom A8 comes with Windows 11 Pro. I really enjoy mine and it does everything I need it to do well! Personally, I'm not a gamer. Also, I'm pretty sure that the housing for the UM790-Pro is larger then this Geekom A8 unit allowing that 2nd NVME Gen 4 socket to get more cooling etc...

    Hello I have this computer barebone and I installed Win 11 23H2 but I'm having problems with the internet. No internet at all. If it works then it's only for a few secs and then the internet is like 16kbps which is totally unusable. I tried 21H2 but still the same problem. I took out the Intel Killer and tried it in my laptop and everything works. I tried a USB dongle and still bad or simply no internet at all. This computer is near useless to me rn. I found a windows version on their website along with a few drivers but the windows won't install at all with the error DISKPART /S X:\ListVol.txt "No device found Scripts folder". Idk what to do anymore. Normal windows installation works but no internet even with installed drivers. Any help, please?

    I ordered this UM790 barebones from Amazon a week ago (along with a second Inland 2TB NVMe PCIe 4 SSD) and it's supposed to arrive today. Your video being many months old I hope the updated drivers will make this easier. So long as Ubuntu Cinnamon 22.04 is allowed to run in the RAID 0 array I'll be happy as I only use Windows with the software included with my Arturia KeyLab 88 MkII (because it will not run properly in WINE) so I'll install Windows 11 Pro first. But in your unit I saw no SATA 3 mount location which is a massive bummer. My user files being in the NVMe SSD means substantially more I/O & use of as much, cutting their lives shorter. Hopefully my 2 Inland 2TB "Performance Plus NVMe Gaming SSD Optimized for PS5 - Gen4 PCIe, M.2 2280, DRAM Cache, TLC 3D NAND Flash, Up to 7000MB/s" (1 with heatsink & 1 without as even though the unit w/ it fit without issue in my UM690 but because Minisforum warns with force no heatsink can be used. But I pray what I receive does have a SATA II plug and mount location. I am a former IM analyst from Polaroid in Norwood, MA so there aren't many problems I cannot fix. Hopefully no "Dummy, you can't fix THIS" problems come up! I strongly suspect they will not.

  • @monkeymanstones1
    @monkeymanstones14 ай бұрын

    Maybe buying another Seagate Firecuda 530 4TB M.2S PCI-E CLient SSD and using these in RAID 0 would be better. Having Micron storage in them is exceptionally comforting and comfortable. Using 2 of these in RAID 0 would really put this over the top! I'll be backing up Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu Cinnamon 22.04 will go well and (where the problems usually appear in my experience) install of backups during installation of OS's works correctly for once! But the sudden possible loss of SATA III is extremely hard to accept and I pray it's not so for what I receive in the new UM790 barebones I receive today.

    Thanks for the review. A week ago I received the Minis Forum UM790-Pro machine (Ryzen 9 7940HS) with 32Gb of 5600 memory and a 1Gb NVME drive. So far, I really like it! Previously, I've been running on a Mac Mini M1 and am just tired of Apple's constant locking down of their hardware as well as their machines lack of upgradability. So far, this machines performance seems to duplicate or exceed my M1 Mac Mini with the added benefit of being able to upgrade both its onboard memory and storage! It definitely offers a lot more bang for the buck!

    I took a chance on the 7840HS version of this last month while it was first on sale with so few Amazon reviews. Used it pretty much every day for remote play. I am pleasantly surprised. Even among mini PCs of the same spec (which are almost all more expensive!) the out-of-box configuration is quite good. The RGB lights at the top of the case are a bit distracting, but they can be disabled thankfully.

    I want to say that I really appreciate the work that she put into these streams. I live in Australia and the only market for mini PCs is pretty much Amazon. And you just don’t know what you are buying when it comes to Mini PC’s. I’m just looking for a cheap computer that can run Linux. And to know that it has all the windows 11 compliant software and hardware is vitally important. So at the moment I’m tossing up between buying a raspberry pi 5 or mini pc. Because in Australia, this is actually slightly cheaper than buying a raspberry pi with the charger and the cooling fan and everything else. And everything you’ve said about PCs about how to use them is absolutely spot on. Benchmarks. Don’t tell the real story because the way software is written and programs are written for a PC. VLC might be optimised today, but tomorrow they might inject something that slows it right down. And that’s the same with any piece of programming or software. So benchmark will tell you what speed you are getting, but the reality is, you may not experience that and wonder why. This is why this channel looks so great educational little tips and tricks along the way and demonstrating the power of these mini PCs. Thank you and greetings from Australia. I’ve watched other videos that you’ve done and so I’m going back your back catalogue of videos ant the moment. So you might see me comment on other videos Thanks again
