    I did this with oil based paints and water… it’s called Water Marbling… you can dip cups and plates and such, depending on the paint you use… i used nail polish on water… it works too… my teachers didn’t call it Hydro dipping… so i didn’t use that term when i taught my students… there are kits available u can buy… it’s pretty… my art club did it on paper to make Teachers’ Day cards for all the teachers in my school…

    This was great. It is also want I would like to basically do: play with it to my heart's content! If I was doing this, I'd be so careful of every drop of colour because buying in small amounts makes it more expensive. Then, I'd want to make something beautiful and perfect. So constraining! All of it! This was bliss. 😊❤

    Do you treat the fabric beforehand with something so the paint sticks to it?

  • @mayusilkartllc6738
    @mayusilkartllc67382 ай бұрын

    Yes, most fabrics require a mordant to help the paint to absorb into the fabric. We use alum.

    I really like the final design, but I would have preferred to have stopped after the last multi-nail sweep. I’m an Artist as well (although non-practicing due to autoimmune diseases that have caused my motor skills to have diminished), and generally have a balance preference. With that said, I love how free you can be with this medium and we all have our preferences. The final result was beautiful and certainly unique!

    So glad you enjoyed it. Painting on water allows for a lot of freedom - it provides a never-ending source of fascination and wonder for artists and non-artists alike. One of the best aspects of this art is being able to decide when to stop, and when to keep going - or to change direction altogether, knowing that any choice will be a good one.

    That's beautiful ❤️ just a question . Why doesn't the paint flow downwards or mix as you are holding up the fabric to show us. Also how don't they mix when one drops the fabric into the washing vessel afterwards?

    Gorgeous--thank you so much for the tutorial! Do you have to begin with white/ivory silk? I was wondering how the colors would react on an already colored fabric. Thanks again!

  • @mayusilkartllc6738
    @mayusilkartllc67383 ай бұрын

    The process works on colored fabric, but the colors will definitely be affected. For example, if you are working on red silk, yellow paint might create an Orange effect, while blue paint might result in purple. Red, magenta, and pinks will yield deeper, richer shades because of the red behind them, while might look like a light pink.

    You were a great inspiration to me in 2010 when I endeavored to start a textile marbling business. I could not secure adequate funding and could not go forward. I still long for it but now I make sure I keep my skills up to date and continue to marble for my artistic expression. Your work is gorgeous and I am glad to see you are still spreading the joy.

    Thank you for your kind words. Although we derive great personal satisfactions in helping others to find and achieve their own dreams of establishing a water marbling business or home studio, we know that the art itself brings much joy on a more passive level - it is intrinsically beautiful, with a magical way of touching those who are fortunate to discover it. We see this every time we have the honor of guiding someone through the process of painting a marbled scarf for the first time. I am so glad to know that you’ve been able to tap in to some of that magic yourself. Seek wonder, and you shall find it!!

    We know. Since Karahantepe, you have attacked Göbeklitepe and the descendants of Prophet Adam with perversion, plague, slavery, Nazism, Communism, Region 51, and Covid projects. This is your last known trick: You are trying to impose yourself with droid armies, UFOs, aliens, black holes (gay organizations). Know your limits. The archaeological basis of Adam's lineage is the goddess figurines. Wherever it grows and is planted, those are our natural borders. Know your place, Brahmin Karahantepe people. We do not eat humans, we do not mate with animals, we do not become homosexuals, we do not sacrifice humans. We believe in love and free will. This is the war of civilization. We are civilization. We are human. We know that you have always attacked the civilization of Prophet Adam with your British, Arab, German and Turkish-Islamic collaborators. This is the origin of the 3rd World and all world wars; You don't know your place. (You are a Droid artist. You are not human.)

    I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for your compliment. Marbling is so much fun, but it can also be capricious. Doing the designs is the easy part - the real skill is in getting all the elements right before you ever start painting. If you are interested in giving it a try for yourself, check out our website at www.mayusilkart.com. We don’t sell kits, but we do provide both in-person and virtual scarf-painting experiences and intensive 3-day classes, as well as a comprehensive online course.

    Hi Karen. Thank you for your comment. This wasn’t meant to be a how-to video. It was actually created as a public service announcement as part of the #safehands challenge during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although we make it look simple, the art of water marbling is surprisingly complex. If you are looking to simply dabble in the art, we suggest purchasing a relatively inexpensive marbling kit from your local art supplier. If you are keen to learn the full process and technique, as well as receive ongoing support and discounted prices on key supplies and equipment, please consider enrolling in one of our Business in a Box programs. Offered in three different formats (online, in person, and hybrid), this training is geared for serious learners, including those who are interested in starting a water marbling business or home studio of their own. Check it out on our website at www.mayusilkart.com/academy.

    Hello! This particular video was created as part of the World Health Organization’s #safehands challenge during the early weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic. It illustrates the effectiveness of soap which essentially makes water more wet. If you look down in the comments below, you’ll see a link to what the final print looks like. It is actually an historic marbling design called Italian Hair Vein

    As you can see in the comments, lots of people have asked the same thing. What you may have missed is that this video was created as part of the #safehandschallenge during the early months of the pandemic to encourage hand-washing. Well, I did make a print. Eventually, it wasn’t actually part of my plan so I had to step away from the camera to go get a piece of paper (the only material I had prepped for that size tray at the time. My cameraman turned off the camera while I ran upstairs, and then we never turned it back on again.
