    I’m definitely a fan of an oval thumb, the Pro Shop I go to is able to drill thumbs out to be “oval” so we can get the “correct number of cuts” and the correct “angle” the oval should be for my hand etc…. This will help your feels for sure. As I like to say, on a grip pressure scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most) I like to have a feel of a 2 or a 1 in grip pressure!

    Too much This is simply too much effort. In my opinion all the cutting in the pasting the first time you get that tape dirty it’s trash. It just seems so convoluted and such an effort to have some controlled area in my thumb hole. I don’t get it I would never go to all this trouble, nice video but I would never do it

    Thanks for your question!! Short answer is yes, the Max Thrill will surprise you at how well this ball performs! I would add surface to handle the fact that on medium patterns there tends to be “more oil” and less friction. This halogen core with the Turmoil cover with surface rolls well for me on a lot of patterns!!! Thanks!

    And just like that, 7 years have passed. Lots of new balls have come out. Many of them are absolutely great balls. But you know what? Over these 7 years the Jackal Ghost has held up against all comers. It's still one of the best balls. It hooks a ton, but it's smooth and continuous. It's not as big a hook ball as some of the newer balls, like the Harsh Reality, but it is controllable, powerful, and can be used in anything from medium to heavy oil. In fact I just drilled another one, and loving the results.

    Just got back bowling there today. I would say this ball is certainly in play and I wished I would have brought my Crimson. For me in team I played more out and up with my Black Venom and shot 660 so don’t feel I would have used there. However, doubles/singles the pattern felt longer and more volume to start..so my Black Venom wasn’t “big” enough for say there first 2 games or so. Then I went to my Hyper for the rest of the match just keep moving left as the lanes broke down. Had 1895 EA, so just make sure to have a step down from the Mythic!!! Let me know how it goes !!

    would this be good for a spare ball?

  • @BkbowlingTips
    @BkbowlingTipsАй бұрын

    Great question, short answer is yes but just know this ball will pick up sooner than a sniper or other spare balls. If you bowl on dryer lanes and throw a strike type release at your spares, this ball will read the lane a hook. I have used this for my spares but I do have Motiv spare ball!

  • @michaelepifano9983
    @michaelepifano9983Ай бұрын

    @@BkbowlingTips Thank you...I use a Crown Jewel for my 10 pin spares. there's not a lot of miss room as the CJ will not hold, so I was looking at urethane with the right release as a dual spare ball/dry lane option...still unsure if the Tank pics up more versus Purple Hammer Urethane. I did hit my CJ with 500 grit yesterday and it does appear to hold. Also looking at that Hammer Axe (low reactive spare ball).

  • @BkbowlingTips
    @BkbowlingTipsАй бұрын

    Thanks for the additional information. I feel the purple hammer would “hook the most and the soonest” then the Tank Rampage” then the hammer spare ball. You can adjust the surface on any of these to help the ball get down the lane (so take up the urethane surface to 4000K and/or polish). Now I love the idea of adding surface to your current plastic spare ball. The biggest advantage of the Tank is what you said, you got a spare ball that can double as a “strike” ball too! Hope this helps!!!!

  • @michaelepifano9983
    @michaelepifano9983Ай бұрын

    @@BkbowlingTips Thank you so much...I agree with you on the purple hammer. If you were going to build a 3 ball arsenal for a league house pattern with the Venon Shock as the middle bench mark would you ball up to the Jackal ghost, Evoke or the Primal? ball down to the Red Tank or Solid Thrill? and where would a 900 global Zen fit in?

  • @BkbowlingTips
    @BkbowlingTipsАй бұрын

    So when I look at any pattern I look first north and south then I look east to west. Since most house patterns have defined friction to the right (say 10 to 1) I like the Primal Shock above the Venom Shock. You have a high RG core with lots of diff in the Primal, and the Shock is a low RG ball with less diff. Now the choice for light oil gets tricky because the tanks are on the left side of the chart, meaning they start up the soonest and have a banana shape. That’s not always ideal for dry lanes, so tanks are ideal for short patterns (high friction) but with with some oil still in the front. So if you have a beat up house shot (so oil in the front is going away and you have dry outsides because of the house pattern) then a Max Thrill Pearl or Solid would be your best choice. I personally love the Max Thrill Solid! Hope this helps, ask if you have any questions

    Hi Steve, I just found one of these NIB and am very excited about getting out there and trying it out. From what you remember about this ball, did you hit this with any surface at all? It comes OOB at 3000 LSS but I’m thinking of bringing mine down to 2000 being that it is an older cover and might need a little more to help it pick up properly. Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • @BkbowlingTips
    @BkbowlingTipsАй бұрын

    Wow, what an awesome find!! You are correct in your thinking that the older covers will certainly feel more cleaner and more angular vs. a ball on the chart with today’s cover! Today’s cover technology really is geared to today’s oil so they are stronger….with that said I would throw a few games first with the box finish and see what you got. If you find it is “too” clean then yes certainly hit it with 2000k, if you need it sooner then 1000k. Motiv balls certainly take well to cover changes, so if you go too strong. Just step it back up!!! Thanks and let me know how it goes!!

    Hey Steve. Great review! I love this Pride Dynasty...I'm not much of a hook bowler, but this ball hooks a lot! Im currently bowling in a summer 9-pin no-tap sport shot league and i will use this ball 1st (like u said). My question is: since I'm more of a straight bowler, where should i aim when im using this ball? Im thinking anywhere from 10-15, so it can hook into the pocket. My avg is 154 so far, but I'm looking to increase that by 20 pins or so with this ball. What do u suggest? And btw, no prob with the Eagles....but Here We Go Steelers. Just sayin'. 🙂

  • @BkbowlingTips
    @BkbowlingTipsАй бұрын

    Thanks for the question! This ball is certainly strong and will dig into the oil wanting to get into a roll early. Just note that the earlier any ball gets into a roll, the smoother it will be on the back (opposite being the easier it gets down the lane, the sharper it will hook on the back). So adjust your line so you can find that nice smooth arc back to the pockets, somewhere around that 10-15 should be fine. Just don’t be hesitant to move in as needed. Love to see the Eagles and the Steelers in the Super Bowl this year for sure!!!

    I have the primal shock. Thought about just adding surface to that to make it have a stronger cover. Then pick up either the Venom Shock or Super rally for later league night game. The other option is picking up the raptor Fury and using the Primal as the transition ball. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

  • @BkbowlingTips
    @BkbowlingTips4 ай бұрын

    Thanks for your question! My take is the Primal Shock is a higher RG core with plenty of Diff so this ball is fairly clean and angular for the medium/heavy oil part of the chart. Add some surface will certainly make it slow down faster and thus a bit smoother on the back. If you have lots of oil the Fury is a very big symmetrical low RG ball…so this will really dig in quick and be very smooth in comparison to the Primal and play off each other but you need oil for this step down. In the lighter oil part of the chart, the Shock is a low RG core with the same cover as the Primal. What I suggest maybe is going with the Hyper Venom as a step down from your Primal (with surface). Hyper and the Rally are both angular but the Rally is very, very angular. I would suggest Hyper as a step down to the Primal. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions and how it goes!!!

    Thanks so much for your question! The Tank Rampage Pearl is “the closest”’reaction to traditional urethane Motiv has created to date. It will be very smooth in comparison to the Black Venom and the Crimson (so it won’t want to fall too much to the right and really banana shape on the back). It would be a ball that you would keep your angles “in front of you” so not really throwing it away much from the pocket…. I love this on shorter flat patterns the most and I tune the surface to meet the need. In short, the Tank Rampage Pearl will give you a much different shape! Thanks so much!!!

    hi Steve, I'm a low rev (285) low speed (14.30) at the sensor down lane and I bowl in a house that has really old SPL lanes. I would say It's medium to medium dry. I'm always on the hunt for equipment that match up with my game and the blue coral seems like the kind of ball that would be perfect for the way I approach the lanes, I really like to play more up the boards and love equipment that doesn't force me way far left, I can handle some angle but too much angle just makes me uncomfortable, before I make a purchase I would be interested in your thoughts, would this be a ball you would recommend for a player like myself? and also, could you recommend a layout? my stats are 60 degrees of rotation and 17 degrees of axis tilt, pap 4 15/16 over 15/16 up

  • @BkbowlingTips
    @BkbowlingTips4 ай бұрын

    Thanks so much for your question and I’ll do my best to help!! First want to say the hardest thing to do is recommend layouts without being present…so finding a certified pro shop professional is always your best bet. I can say in my area, I have seen several bowlers in the “category” of what you speak “lower speed, rev rate in that 250 to 300 range, kind of medium to dry lane conditions that have absolutely loved the Blue Coral Venom. It’s an asym core (but a “smaller” diff asym) which gives you a “more stronger” reaction then a similar symmetrical…however you won’t have to move too far left but give you enough to help carry out the corners going more up the lane. The cover is a hybrid so you can tune easily to be early (add surface) or more skid snap (less surface/polish) after drilling. Note that these “smaller” asym are really the way we used to take symmetrical cores in this Diff range and putting in lower weight holes to create shape! Taking a shot at a possible drilling (note I haven’t seen you bowl or completely understand your environment) I would say something like 50x4.25x35. The VAL angle (the last number) might be the most important to you for shape and that’s where a local pro shop can help you. But drilling is only a % of ball reaction, surface is always the most important so keep that in mind!!! Let me know if you have any more questions and how it goes!!! I know you will love this ball!!!!

    Hey Steve, question on this one, did you leave yours at box finish or did you dumb down the surface a bit? I have a CTD ball scanner and mine is reading 1500 (actual) OOB. Consequently, the ball is tending to read quite early for me. I haven’t taken a pad to it yet but am thinking of doing so if the ball continues to read early. Any suggestions or has anyone else mentioned to you about changing the surface on this one?

  • @BkbowlingTips
    @BkbowlingTips5 ай бұрын

    Thanks for your great question! I personally will always adjust any balls surface to help me get the reaction I’m looking for. Yes the Evoke does has a lot of surface out of the box. So if it is reading the lanes too early certainly take it to a higher surface like 2K or 3K and test what it does. The best thing about Motiv covers is they all seem to take well to cover adjustments. So adding surface will make any ball sooner and smoother, and raising will make them cleaner and more angular. Polishing with either a compound or true polish can help too, so don’t be afraid to change the.surface and see what you get. If the changes are not quite what you want, adjust it some more! Let me know how it goes, thanks!!
