    Since you guys both have that rail under the bottle, it might be worth getting a mount to put your chronograph there instead of on the barrel. Then you could check accuracy at the same time since it won’t mess with barrel harmonics from it hanging there. Nice rifles, I think they’re both setup well. Makes me want to pick up an M3 and sell my old one.

    "Do longer barrels matter?" Yes and no. It depends what you're trying to achieve. Longer barrels will generally net you more velocity at a lower pressure- i.e. more efficiency. Typically, you CAN get the same velocities with shorter barrels, but you'll be spending more air to do it (it'll also be louder). In both cases, there's limitations. There's a point of diminishing returns with barrel length- i.e. too long, and you're doing more harm than good. With short barrels, depending on the projectile you're trying to launch and the target velocity, you may not have enough barrel to get there. It's all a balancing act.

  • @bowmanoutdoors
    @bowmanoutdoors3 ай бұрын

    You are correct. A balancing act indeed. The longer barrel also leaves the slug in contact longer so movement is the shooter or system plays a larger role. I found out I’m less accurate with the longer barrel when I thought accuracy would be improved. Thanks for the comment and feedback

    I've shot my Chronograph probably 15 times. But they all skimmed off the top and didn't do any damage, you are in no way the first to do that. It's a very easy thing to do because of the bore / scope plane discrepancy. I also wanted to mention the first shot you took at 958, and left it out as an outlier, is something you need to consider normal. When you shoot the air and plenum get really cold, so when the gun sits, that air gets back up to ambient temperature and obviously becomes more pressure. So, the cold regulated air left in your plenum, once warmed back up. is actually a higher pressure than it should be, and it becomes slightly harder for the valve to open. So the reason I say you should consider it normal, is because if you are hunting, it's the first shot that matters and so you need to figure out how to correct for this without taking a few dry fires. Maybe 2 clicks more hammer spring or something, but you get what I'm saying. You said you were thinking about lubing slugs, I lube all my ammo. I use a bowl with a cloth draped over it that is pretty saturated in super lube, food grade silicon, and poor the whole tin in and roll it around like you are panning for gold, keep the cloth sort of tight so to make it like a trampoline. This puts a very even coat of lube and gets off any of the lead dust or flakes.

  • @bowmanoutdoors
    @bowmanoutdoors3 ай бұрын

    Awesome feedback and comments. We appreciate your support and guidance! Good call on the first shot being the one that counts.

  • @ravenshield7823
    @ravenshield78233 ай бұрын

    Again, only for hunting purposes, because you aren't going to scare a target away with a dry fire, but it almost makes sense to have a separate first shot Strelok profile based on an average of first shot velocities. At 140 yards, my first shot, when the gun has sat for a day or 2 or more, hits the ground 2 feet in front of my dropdown target. Thats never going to be a hit without figuring this issue out. This would get me in the ballpark of knowing what I need to do anyhow. It's literally the exact opposite of a cold bore shot since you are warmest on the first shot, and cooling down the more you shoot.@@bowmanoutdoors

    This was complete waste of a video, the speed you gained is what you would gain by just simply rotating the barrel 180 degrees. Tune the guns now with the kit and see if you can get those 40 grain slugs over the 850fps mark now with the mods. It should be able to get those 40 grainers over 1100fps now

    It's not so much the overall volume, but with the Yokozuna it's a much more metallic and high pitched sound than with the others. Feels like the sound is much more compressed and less lenghtened and evenly distributed across the wave length. Probably because the fill is missing and the design being modular and not made from one piece of aluminium. I personally prefer my Emperor over the Yokozuna but would be interested to know if it would be possible to fill it with fiber to reduce (Or even get rid of) the high pitched noise it makes.

  • @johnrambo1349

    @bowmanoutdoors if added with other mods I can see a big benefit. But just installing the slug power kit won't get you the 50-80fps extra as advertised. More like 5-10 fps max. Ted also experienced the same. He said folks who claim they got 50fps plus are probably not lining up the transfer port correctly to get the full power. If you line your pellet prob port correctly with the transfer port, you should get close to what the pin prob (power kit).

  • @robbypro3370

    The rubber ball shuts your valve faster, not leaving it open longer. The slug power kit also comes with a weaker hammer return spring with that rubber ball, which it doesnt do much anymore, so leave the rubber ball in there to dampen the hammer rod.

    Good review One of the best "Slugs" pellets are the ZAN projectiles!. Extremely precise!! Tested against h&n slug. The ZAN projectiles were much more consistent and had tighter impacts!. On the other hand, concerning the jsb hades, they have a more significant mushroom effect on the small caliber .177 (with 18fpe minimum!) Weird!. . How many % do you use your ballistic gel? I like to make it at 16-17%, I don't know if you have the knorr brand (knorr texture gélatine) at home? It has a superb transparent texture. I often put 560 grams for 3.5 liters of demineralized water with 20ml of cinnamon oil to prevent the proliferation of bacteria.
