    Do you read comics? "What if" storyline has Doom and Stark as college roomates... Tony agrees to help Victor build a machine that is to "activate telepathic thoughts" to" help" advance society and "help" the disabled so he agrees. He notices something off with Dooms wiring design, but takes Victor his "partners" word and gets locked into restraints, when Doom admits that the whole machine was built to switch minds with Stark to steal his name, assets, and influence while erasing Starks (who just switched into Dooms body) memory. Doom (in Starks body) becomes a murderous tyrant, and Stark (in Dooms body with Latverian tech and magic) becomes a philanthropist who develops free energy arc reactor tech because he isn't held back from his name or legacy and becomes the best person he can be (which puts doom and his energy companies out of business) Doom decides to fly to Latveria in his green Ironman suit while Stark dawns a red and yellow "rescue suit" designed to help victims in natural disasters. I won't spoil the ending but this is the most excited Ive been for a Marvel movie since Days of Futures Past

    I TRIED with Discovery, i really did. I made it to Season 4. But it just became the Michael Burnham Space Jesus show with accompanying millennials, many of which we didn't even know the names of. Even then, i could see BITS of Trek in it. This has nothing. I will have my full say on NU Trek in the future. I want to do some positive content on ACTUAL Star Trek first.

    Do you think Roddenberry would have liked Section 31 in Deep Space Nine? Some of the crap that's been done by Secret Hideout had its beginnings in Deep Space Nine. Yes, those DS9 writers handled the material much much better but it wouldn't even be in Star Trek Lore if it wasn't for the idea being in Deep Space Nine in the first place

  • @101Mant
    @101Mant3 күн бұрын

    Roddenberry didn't want interpersonal conflict, if the writers just did what Roddenberry wanted I don't think the show would have been nearly as good. Section 31 allowed a lot of interesting moral debate which was a general theme of DS9. What happens when idealism hits brutal reality.

  • @scifitvrevisited8405
    @scifitvrevisited84053 күн бұрын

    @@101Mant That whole interpersonal conflict rumor has been blown out of proportion by a group of young writers back then. Again, would Roddenberry have approved of DS9's Section 31? If the answer is "no" then saying stuff like "rolling in his grave" (as the video stated) seems a bit disingenuous. That's not to say that DS9 wasn't good (IMO, it was good) it's just to say that I don't think Roddenberry would have approved of Section 31 in DS9. YMMV.

  • @CriticALReviews595
    @CriticALReviews5953 күн бұрын

    Honestly, he probably wouldn't have liked it. BUT the way it was done was at least in line with Gene's vision. A more advanced mankind with higher sensibilities. It's just in order for that to be maintained some underhand unsavoury things need to be done in the background. Compared to what we are seeing here? Night and Day. Gene's been spinning for a while.

  • @scifitvrevisited8405
    @scifitvrevisited84053 күн бұрын

    @@CriticALReviews595 But do you think Gene would have liked the idea of unsavory things needing to be done in the background in the first place? Putting that "need" behind us is how we (humans) were able drop our petty Earth wars that almost destroyed us and work together to go to the stars. At least in my interpretation. I agree that w/ Secret Hideout they moved the unsavory stuff from the background and into the foreground (including having special badges that designate one part of Section 31). I'm just pointing out that if DS9 never would have leaned into Section 31 in the first place, Secret Hideout wouldn't have this idea to twist and mangle like they are and say that it is consistent with previous continuity.

    @@scifitvrevisited8405 I guess we'll never know. I mean CONSPIRACY certainly alluded to a potential darkness in Star Fleet and everything not being perfect. Thing is, as much as Berman et al made changes to Trek that made it a little more dark and realistic that might not have been in line with the TOS ethos. It was still recognisable. SH have rendered it nearly the opposite. I was disgusted with Picard season 1. If DS9 had Gene gently turning like a rotisserie chicken, NUTrek would have him going like a washing machine on spin cycle.

    Star Trek Into Darkness really screwed up the covert nature of Section 31. Discovery later exacerbated this by their portrayal of Section 31. People forget how secretive this organization was that it wasn’t even heard about until the late the 24th century.

A 50 something year-old asian actress playing the martial arts stereotype, but made even more bland by this "look, I'm evil and I love it" bullshit with lame oneliners that are supposed to come off witty, but are actually just pure cringe. How would they be unnecessary when the Frederation faces enemies as strong ir stronger than itself without the same moral restraint? You cant fight enemies with kindess if they are not receptive. I always figured that they might have to do things that Star Fleet couldn't. I would think that Picard's covert mission in Chain of Command would be as far as Star Fleet would be prepared to go. It was a fairly interesting facet to the utopian ideals of Trek. What needs to be done to ensure that the Federation can hold to it's ideals? Kurtzman is just a moron. This is horrific.
