I hate it here in Chatt! Thank you for this! Very accurate analysis! (I live in this [beep beep] Chattanooga) ! By the way, the healthcare proffesionals are overwhelmed here - so if you need healthcare - get ready for the long waiting times to get in! Im having a hard time getting a family doctor that will accept new patients! (remember he said for every 100 that move away 200 move-in )Also, Chattanooga has a larger population of vagrants with signs for food up and down the highways exits and - even in the corners of town there are tent communities. Also, Chattanooga is dangerous for the size. per capita the shootings daily are too many for such a small place. They are jamming in zero-lot-line homes everywhere ~and~ high rise tenaments everywhere downtown -- too many -- everywhere and all those people will present a HOST of new problems for this area. Also, watch out downtown for the things homeless leave on the sidewalks and alleys

I thought hubby & I would end up in Tennessee, but an so glad we chose Kentucky instead! Our sales tax & other taxes are lower, cost of living is lower & not as crowded in western Kentucky.

Pretty good presentation. We moved to Chattanooga from the North burbs of Chicago 8 years ago. We still love it here. We actually live out in Ooltewah. There are several areas just outside the city that are really nice. On the traffic comments....well everything is relative. If you know where you are going (know the roads), you can get anywhere here in under 30 mins....can't say that about Chicago (or Nashville). There certainly are alot of folks moving here from place like CA, NY, NJ, IL etc and as that continues, the traffic will likely get worse. We both work from home so are quite happy here in our area.

Having grown up in Chattanooga for almost 20years moving to Memphis for over 20 years before moving back to Chattanooga, I can honestly say Chattanooga is WAY BETTER!!! I would agree that we have our problems, but so does every large city!! If people start moving to the tri-cities as you seem to be suggesting, then you are going to start having those “big city problems “ as well.

Chattanooga just doesnt have any industrial or factory or JOBS period as far as working and supporting your family look forward to working at Amazon for pennies and not ever making any money just struggling and waiting for life to end. Thats how depressing it is. Its like they have no intrest in a middle class

Doesn't shopping in VA hurt Tn where you live? Seems to me I would support MY state as a resident. I'm thinking state government will sometime in the future deal with this issue somehow.

When you live in a border town, I think less of the impact since many of the people I know, including my mom, are VA residents. It's rarely worth the drive to save maybe 3%. Only if we're buying a bigger ticket item.

Sorry, residents don’t want more California and Floridian neighbors moving to your area, sounds like you are selling not only real estate but more overdevelopment of green lands. More people mean more pollution and crime..Will the cities in the area be able to develop their infrastructure, schools, medical facilities, water and roads, and police department, fire departments, just to name a few, to keep up with booming population. I think not. 😢🎉

Great video! Moved to Middle Tennessee from the Midwest in 1996 expecting to stay maybe two years :) It's hard to leave a place with great neighborhoods, beautiful houses, a wonderful cultural life, friendly people and great food. Oh and low taxes and mild winters! Summer is a bear with the heat/humidity, but our outdoor season is roughly 8 months out of the year, and when I'm sitting on my patio in the sun with just a light sweater in the middle of March I am so thankful I'm down here. My neighborhood has gotten a direct hit by two tornadoes since I moved down here, so it's definitely a thing, however pick your poison no matter where you live: severe heat, drought, blizzards, mudslides, wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes...

I live in Trade, TN it’s about as far northeast in the state as you can get. Out of TN’s 647 cities, towns, municipalities and unincorporated areas, we’re the highest, oldest, and snowiest. It’s an amazing place to live in the mountains but with the recent influx of people (which I’m not against) the lack of infrastructure is a real problem. For example if you’re moving here and plan on building there’s a two and a half year wait to have a well dug.

The Chattanooga police department is dirty, along with the D.A.'s office and the public defenders office. The judges are on the take and have never heard of justice. In Chattanooga, it's not who you know, but who you blow. And there is alot of "D....klickers" in downtown......more specifically, government buildings.

Real estate agents always telling everyone how great it is there until it gets too crowded and then they move somewhere else and start all over. Home prices in east Tennessee have increased like crazy in the last 5 years because of people from other areas use to higher home prices moving in. Our home has doubled in value in the last 10 years and it wasn't a cheap house to begin with. BTW Kingsport is a better place than any other east of Knoxville, great place to move to.

If you live in Chattanooga and have kids, do not send your kids to public schools. They are awful, Your best bet is to live in NW Georgia and send them to Lakeview, Ringgold, or Heritage. As far as areas to live: Ooltewah is nice but getting crowded, Lookout Mtn, Signal Mtn, and Missionary Ridge are nice, as are parts of East Brainerd. Stay away from Brainerd and East Ridge.
