Our mission is as simple as it is compelling: to help preserve vanishing chicken breeds from around the world. We do this by forming an informal partnership with people like you to help build what is essentially a distributed gene bank of rare chicken breeds. We import chickens from the four corners of the globe --and we also search for rare breeds right in here in America-- and propagate those breeds to protect them from extinction. Backyard chicken hobbyists all across the United States and Canada join in this mission, and as a result chicken breeds that teetered on the brink of extinction are protected and fostered for the day their genetic gifts can once again be pressed into service. Here’s a chance for one person --maybe you?-- to make a huge difference in the story of one type of livestock; one small but important piece in the agricultural puzzle that goes back 10,000 years in human history. Please join us in the fight to save these rare and beautiful chickens.

Gorgeous birds.
I wanted Bielefelder chicks but they did not have them in the store so I got Welsummer chicks. That's also a heritage breed that was developed in the Netherlands. One day, hopefully, I'll have Bielefelders. Both breeds are dual birds.
Just Subbed🤗 Love your content, Blessings💗
How many eggs on average do one IG chicken give in a year?
Would you consider them a quieter breed? I’ve read that they are, but would like your thoughts. I’m moving to an HOA and this is an important consideration for breed choice.

I love to see brown girl farmers!!
What is going to happen with the chickens at greenfire farm in the future? Are they going to make chickens? Start to be vaccinated and will you all be vaccinating your chickens?
I'm going to pick up a few today!!!
lol. My husband said we’re not getting that one. Saving my extra cash to put in an order for the spitz, and a few others. Started a go fund me to donate all my first year production eggs to Hawaii food bank. Ag student here seriously interested in avian/poultry medicine.
ill order some eggs from you one day! I am a new farmer and I want to work with birds like yours. Potential poultry vet here. I have a go fund me to donate all my first year's (2025) eggs to Hawaii Food Bank. I plan on getting permitted to bring eggs to market. Aside from eggs I would love to breed chickens and experience the differences between breeds and see if I am any good at improving them. My personal capstone for my ag degree I will be getting starting this fall will be to start an egg producers co-op in Hawaii Oceanview Estates. I have a go fund me started too. "help brandon feed hawaii with fresh eggs" Mahalo! B
I have two females at home ("dwarf" Liege if you can call it dwarf). They are very sweet with other chicken varieties (apfenzeller spitzhauben, holland dwarf). That being said sometimes I see my cat running like hell through the garden being chased by one of my Liege female. My cat is usually not frightened by foxes which I saw him attacking even... But the Liege shows a certain form of determination. They don't tolerate being bullied by a cat! I guess they have the instinct of the fighter/flock protector in their genes. I like it. I think they can protect the rest of my flock from danger to a certain extent. They are not the most friendly chicken (but not wild either) and can be broody. They can fly if in danger but are in no way escapists. I don't clip their wings, they never escaped from the garden (fenced). They sleep in the coop without trying to sleep outside. One of my Liege chicken is a real "botanist" (she knows and tries to eat all sorts of edible leaves and avoid the toxic ones). They are relatively correct eggs layer, they stop laying during winter. My only regret: not being able to own a rooster (what a magnificent bird!) as I live in a town. My black Liège female has a superb plumage with a fierce gaze. I am glad to have those "strange/ singular" birds. @Greenfire Farms: Can I use them to sit on eggs and take care of fertilised eggs/ then chicks?
I just recently managed to add a female Silver Bielefelder chick to my upcoming order ❤️ I’m so excited!
Yay! We hope you love her! 🐣
I learned a lot about a breed of chickens I've never heard of---thank you for the upload!
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful coloring.
Great presentation.
Do these go broody???
Not really. We’ve had a couple black mottled hens go broody but it’s not a consistent thing. But you should invest in an incubator if you want to hatch these!
Are they a good foraging breed?
Usually they’re decent foragers; however, due to their large size, they do sometimes get lazy. Especially in the heat of summer where they prefer to relax in the shade rather than spend time foraging.
Great video
Literally obsessed
Just a minor critique of the name: These birds originate in Brazil, but you’re using a different language’s pronunciation to say their name, instead of Portuguese. Personally, if I didn’t just pronounce it in English, I’d use the Portuguese pronunciation, just to pay homage to its country of origin.
I'm just here for the goth chicken. Lol.
Haha. Me too
How early can you tell male and female?
How do snakes get in the pen

Salam dari peternak ayam Cemani Indonesia
That’s a dark blue chicken not black someone needs to go back to kindergarten and relearn their colors
I’m just here for the music 😊
Hi, I got a pair of Swedish flower hens (hen is a black mottle and rooster is a black Millie fleur) and I was wandering how would color genetics play in for all color and pattern variations when crossing them each other? They’re from your farm as well.
There's chick color calculator online
good Job Man 💯❤👍🙏
To be.homest, i believe thaose a hybrid cemani. Check online what cemani looks like. I have been to indonesia many times. I know what i see
And yeah I'm going to call bullshit on greenfire being the first place to have ayam semani in the United States
They never claimed that. Listen again.
@@MacJank7 yes she did claim that @.44 she said "2014 Greenfire Farms was able to locate and legally imported the first pure specimens of this breed into the US".. By claiming that, Greenfire Farms was able to gouge the price of this breed by selling $100/each for unsexed day old chick...minimum 6 chicks with $60 shipping.. it costs more than the most expensive Kobe Beef per volume...Great bussiness model for Greenfire Farms...
@@yrot1123 the first LEGAL being the key word
The look crossbred to me
Do you shipped hatching chicken eggs internationally???
Can you ship few breeders of indio gigante to India?
Good for soup with herbs!! When feeling not well!!
Where can I buy these beauties
