I am nearing 60 years old and like many here, have never played anything with strings. Brass while in highschool many, many years ago. I have been drawn to the banjo since childhood. I watched Flatt and Scruggs on the Beverly Hillbilly show and the dreams took it from there. Now I have the time to practice and get more serious. The dream is still alive. I am on day 10 of this course and will be supporting you through your patreon (You earned it !) Im learning slow as the first 10 days has taken me over a month. I am still slow (Not near up to tempo but my play is consistant and clear. I wanted to thank you for this series as I am not sure I could have done this any other way. Your are talented not only on the Banjo but as a teacher as well. Keep up the great work

Phew. I'm sweating a bit after this one. I think I'm going to have to spend a day or three in practice on this bit. I was getting the rolls down for the last couple days to the point I could mostly do it with my eyes closed (just to get the feel). Fretting smoothly/accurately is definitely a weak point for me, but I'm determined. Thanks, Eli! Been watching your content and starting out since two weeks ago.

Beautiful. I love how that scale-like thing on the fourth string evokes the image of a galloping pony. I really have a soft spot for these fiddle tunes (my fave is West Fork Gals). Are you in double C? Also I like the you started on the B-part.

Why not use guitar strap converters that use Chicago screws. I just bought a pair and they can convert any guitar strap to fit any banjo

I have real trouble stitching these two parts together. In this 2nd part the leading G falls on a strong beat and seems fine on its own, but when played from the previous 1st part it does not feel like that. I cannot align the song as I know it to this back-up in my head 🤔

That tone and your playing is great. I've been searching for this warm and crisp sound. This is one of my favorite Jason Romero songs as well. Would you be willing to sharing what kind of recording setup you're using and what (if anything) you're putting inside the banjo to mute the extra overtones?
