I grew up listening to their music so this is so sad to see. These guys have been in business for 30 years so I’m sure they have joint LLC/corps. They could’ve filed the trademark under one of them to avoid this right? That response from Pharrell’s lawyers sounds very fishy.

How many classification do you need if you are just selling one product
Usually, just one. But there could be exceptions.

They movie is sad in a way but I weirdly found myself rooting for Ray Krock. If The movie is remotely accurate then the McDonald brother made out well riding Rays coat tails.
the movie made a bigger drama out of a pretty straight forward chain of events brothers bought multimixer from ray 8 multimixers ray flies out there to see the restaurant not drive ray flies home mcd brothers lost their franchise agent due to health issues ray calls offers his services as their franchise agent they work out the deal $1900 fee ray pockets and 1.40%, brothers get 0.50% of gross sales of a franchisee this setup holds for 1-2 years until ray meets harry sonneborn who taught him the real estate strategy. again the brothers didn't actually care. as ray had the rights to sell the franchise but the brothers retained the ultimate final contract deal. 1955-1961 brothers just cared about their one store ray didn't like the brothers methodologies and offered to buy them out list their price brothers said 2.70 milion so they get $1million a piece after taxes ray said he can't put royalty deal in contract or it would jeopardize his loans so brothers handshake deal on the royalty as their main goal was the $1million cash. sale proceeds but brothers didn't relinquish their san bernardino store. this pissed ray off. if the brothers relinquished their store to ray, ray might have honored the royalty deal. at least for xyz mount of time.
