That was my problem , the announcers always screwed me up , id be on the course saying to myself , i must make this shot , ive got to this or do that .....example "greg norman must make eagle on 15 to stay in contention"..... listening to the announcers in my head , took me along time to figure that i shouldnt take that on the golf course , i feel stupid now thinking about that ....too much TV !

He co-designed a links style course outside Rochester NY called Mill Creek. They inexplicably designed the 18th hole so that golfers in most areas of the fairway cannot see the green! I mean, you can't even see the flag! It's a totally blind shot! There is a huge mound 100 yards from the green obscuring the view and could easily have been bulldozed away when they built the course! A second fairway to the left sits so low from the first fairway that again you can't see the green! It's other wise a nice layout.

My dad fought at Luxemborg and was captured on Christmas day 1944. He was liberated from Stalag 9b, Bad Orb on 25 July 1945. He ultimately was released from the army at Hot Springs Arkansas at the Army Navy Hospital. Thank you for this precious historical insight.

Respectfully, your father was liberated from Stalag IX-B on April 2-3, 1945. He was RELEASED from his unit on 25 July 1945. I know as my father also was a POW at Bad Orb. He was 'released' from the Army in July. He was liberated on April 2-3, 1945. It would take several weeks to be moved from Bad Orb, Germany to Camp Lucky Strike in France and then on to America. If you've not located information, I can provide it to you. Just ask. Perhaps your father and my father knew each other? Although my father was part of the 179th IR, part of the 45th ID, and was captured during Nordwind in France on January 3, 1945.

@@katherinequann7190 Thank you Katherine. My father never embellished his war service but always answered my questions. I was young and didnt fully understand the magnitude of the incarceration. Looking back, he minimized the the horror they endured to not cause trauma or injury to me. He knew that one day i would understand. He was the definition of love and longsuffering. I have several photographs of him in uniform and am trying to identify his lapel pins/unit devices. Amazingly, he transfered from Pearl Harbor 2 weeks prior to the Japaneese Attack, and have a photo of him standing at waters edge across from Battleship row..... more later thanks again

I haven't played it yet, probably will wait till the third course is open (Doak Design) but having just left Streamsong resort in florida, I have a different outlook on golf courses, much like what David McKlay Kidd said, life isn't fair but you play it anyway. Golf courses don't NEED to be fair, or tough, or easy, or memorable, or beautiful, or dynamic, or whatever, but they need to check some of those boxes. The great ones check many of those boxes. But each course has its own appeal. I hate when people don't like a course because it has a blind shot or tough greens or no trees or too much water. Appreciate the course for what it was designed to be not what you want it to be or compared to another course you like. We played Sawgrass the day before Streamsong Black, you can't have more different courses, I loved them both, Sawgrass was captivating for numerous reason (and brutal) but we had a blast, Streamsong was way easier in some respects, tougher in some, and SOOOO much fun to play. I like this designer and his philosophy, I look forward to playing one of this guys courses. Soon Mr. Kidd, very soon.
