What's high ratio.shortening
It holds a higher amount of sugar into the shortening/in other words it helps create a smoother texture. I have used Sweetex brand. If you can't find high ratio shortening you can substitute with butter.

i try to make black icing and it came out grey can u help what do i do thanks
If you're still at a gray after it sits out for a few hours, add a bit more dye. You can add a bit of violet, navy, and black in equal portions until you get to a dark gray. Once it's a dark gray, it will dry black.

i just stopped by to see if you had a yt channel. I made a chocolate banana cake for my daughter for her 14th birthday this year. It's been a rough cpl years for her. I looked up some icing, ganache, etc to top her cake with. I know this recipe is more for cookies but when i read it, and read of your faith, I know this was a confirmation of the perfect icing for her. I layered the chocolate banana cake and in the middle i added your banana buttercream and slices of bananas. then the buttercream on top with more bananas. Maybe to some a banana overload, but with the dark chocolate in the cake, i just have to tell you your icing was incredible!! Not a typical cake i made but my daughter said it was the most incredible thing she has ever tasted. So now i am making this for a friend's birthday. i just want to thank you for that banana buttercream icing with real banana. a taste of heaven on earth! you made her day amazing despite being with her dad that day, instead of me. Christ Jesus bless you and yours!

Thats great but in the UK/Europe food laws restrict the amount of certain colouring we can add .... this amount of black/dark colours in that much buttercream would not be permitted
Honestly I wish the US was that way too! The only time I use/eat dyes is for decorated sugar cookies so it’s for special occasions. What do you use in Europe/UK to get a nice black?

It depends on how thick you roll it out but I'd say about 18 cookies?
Beautiful Leah.. I had a hard time with my buttercream sticking to the sprinkles/sugar. Any tips?
Don't be afraid to really push the cookie into the sanding sugar. But if it is still not sticking, the buttercream is either too stiff or too cold. I like my buttercream to be a smooth peanut butter consistency or softer.
@@ButtercreamParties thanks for responding. But I don't mean the dipping of the sugar I mean the outline. I have a hard time w the outline sticking to the cookie after it's dipper in the sugar crystals or sprinkles
Gotcha! The details on top of the sanding sugar. Yes, that can be a challenge. The best way to do this is to use thinner buttercream and/or warmer buttercream. It will both help the sprinkles stick to the buttercream and then the buttercream to stick to the sprinkles for the detail work.@@lisamartinos
Ohh ok so warm some up ? I. Can put the piping bag in the microwave? Or warm it up in a bowl then fill the bag?. Do you also use thin or warm buttercream to fill in the whole like the purple bunny?
I just massage the bag with my hands until it warms up. You can run your hands under hot water before doing so too to speed up the process. And yes, for both the bunny and the outline.@@lisamartinos

I wanted so badly to reach in that video and put a piece of cling wrap or parchment over that icing. No need to add powdered sugar and no sticking to rolling pin. Like the idea of smoothing with the back of a spoon. Thanks for the video.

What if younuse all butter?
You can use all butter still and just replace the powdered sugar with the sugar free powdered sugar.

Yep! Although I packaged these in a bakery box with a window since they were a gift for my nephew. Individually packaging is great for corporate events and pop-ups/individual sales. This buttercream can be used with both packaging options.@@lisamartinos
