It's ridiculous there is plenty of room for the engine to be more forward and make it easier to work on... got to love engineer's.

All of the comments are pretty old . I've been tinkering on a 007 F-150. Mostly for maintenance, I replace parts. Thanks for making this video.

Thinking chad picked up alex and returned him after they murdered Tammy. Garth needs to be put on a lie detector test and threatened with charges. He is a huge key by telling his co- worker how he found his mom and no dad. It's clear he is a story changer. Just like admitting his mother drove the Dodge then realizes he just told the truth and changes it around.

I just got one with 223k miles for $1000 lol… 4x4 and covered with rust. Only reason it wouldn’t run is the alternator, now it runs and drives smooth! I may do the oil pump, timing set and whatnot just to keep it running for a long time. And now I need to learn how to do some basic body work to prevent it from rusting itself out! Hello from Alaska, this series has been cool! I’ve been looking everywhere learning about this engine and this 11th gen Ford.

I just bought a 5.3l 3v and was thinking of doing the same I’ve found that Melling made a high volume pump for engine and ford also revised the roller rockers with smaller oil passages so it can squirt better

Just bought a Ford 2005, 5.4 3V triton. Has 197k miles (yep 😬), will do change oil, put new spark plugs and coils, see how much I can get out of it. Truck looks well taken care of paint outside and inside really good condition, motor runs good, no sounds, no rust.

Nice job with this, bro. I have the same engine and am getting the clacking from the chain at start-up (185k miles). I have to do the entire timing job myself...getting the oem timing kit and Melling oil pump. My truck is both easy and a bitch to work on...these 5.4s...at least I'm learning a lot. Thanks for a great video

I have been a mechanic, formally since my training in the usmc and I have owned more vehicles than I can remember and I never paid more than a few hundred bucks and did all my own work. I recently had to pay a little more for the vehicles but I always buy cheap, broken vehicles and then fix them myself. I have a 2005 f150 super crew cap 4x4 and did the vvt and chains and found two of the spark plugs were the original ones! I put about $900 into parts and now it’s running great and I change the oils every 5 thousand miles regardless of the 17,000 miles that the manufacturer says. I also got a bmw 325i that I have less than $700 into and it runs great and it needed a little work but because it was a bmw,the previous owner couldn’t afford the labor and the parts are extremely cheap for the car! I got $5500 from my insurance company because the paint was ruined from the fires we had in Northern California so they totaled it so I bought a wrap kit and I am a mechanic and I can do bodywork but I have never used wrap,so another thing to learn! I bought the biggest roll so I can redo areas because it’s going to be a learning process and we know how that goes. You can’t have too much extra when you’re learning! Keep it up and you’ll do like me, have never had a lot of money but I always drove a great machine and they always ran perfectly because I did the work and I know what can go wrong and I can mostly “feel” when it is having a problem and notice the slightest difference in how it runs. It becomes an extension of yourself and you can feel like it’s part of your body, especially on motorcycles.

Could you have replaced that tensioner without taking the entire engine heads/intake/etc apart? Can you just pull fan, belt, pullies, cover and get at it?

I heard the oil pump with the cast iron back is best for stronger pressure because the aluminum one flexes and looses oil pressure.
