Hey guys, as for the source, the Studer is still the most organic and musical source, but the problem is with the lack of music (master tapes). So I listen to the DAC 90% of the time. The Marten Mingus Orchestra is a better speaker than Coltrane 3 in every single way. The only relative drawback is that it’s so transparent it will reveal ANY issues you may have upstream.

At our Hi-Fi shop we used to do that - some of our speakers weighed what seems 4 tons each - when there is only 1 or 2 of you doing a dem - its the only way - not ideal - but the only way

The amps are the NAT Magma Evo, the DAC is Lampizator Horizon (as well as the preamp), and the music server is the LDMS MiniMax.

Just an additional congratulations and another sidenote: IMHO, these last 3 (especially the last 2) models released in the Mingus series are my current favorite in the marketplace. I think Marten has successfully married the crossover implementation with the latest generation of their drivers par excellence, and with the next evolution of their cabinet design to reach a new pinnacle available in the marketplace (according to my perceived personal preferences). I would take these models (cited above) before the Magico, Kharma, Vimberg, etc. They just have more "life" to them than others in the field.

Love the newest models in the Mingus series. Congratulations, and nice job..! Sidenote: I think you will get a small but appreciable SQ uplift when you remove the hard wheel casters from the bottom and re-insert the IsoAcoustic feet underneath - when positioned in their final resting location. It should be nice. Good luck..!
@Thundersnow_hifi9 ай бұрын
Indeed, the wheels are just temps until I figure out the final position. The IsoAcoustic feet will do their magic as usual!

@@Thundersnow_hifiwonderful system! What preamp and streamer are you using?
@Thundersnow_hifi9 ай бұрын
@@sickkids666the preamp is the NAT Magnetostat SE (but it’s off in the video). Music is streamed from the LDMS MiniMax music server straight to the Lampizator Horizon DAC which acts both as a DAC and a preamp.

Don't know anything about the efficiency of the speakers, but with a more powerful tube amp on top and a solid state mono for the bass might be better. I know the 3500 is powerful but solid-state amp may be more appropriate.

I have listen to YG speakers, in Audio shows and demo room at dealer...and I just dont get it!? To my ears, these are hard hitting, metallic, neutral/clinical. Why would anyone spent this amount on THESE speakers? There are hundreds other high end speakers out there that sound so much more musical..
