Kinda pisses me off. Iron will, focus, constant dedication. Easy enough for someone who hasn't lived their whole damn life with this bullshit. There isn't enough time in a lifetime to dedicate soley to trying to learn this. Plus learning is one thing retaining is a completely different story. Can use any sort of bandaid some kind of educator hands you to patch the hole but the hole doesn't heal, it's always there. You can keep trying to make the patch stick or apply more bandaids but if your not constantly focussed on maintaining your first aid all it takes is a distracting dip in the pool for some relaxation and fun and you won't even realize your bandages are gone. People spouting this are full of shit. Talk about all these famous people having these issues and moving on to greatness. Bet your ass they didn't watch a 13 minute KZread guide or have someone there to hold up flashcards or help them take notes. They just made the best with what they had found something that they Could focus on and feel dedicated too. We're not all DaVinci don't make it sound like we are. Having these issues might not make us inately stupid but falling for this pandering does. These techniques won't work for everyone. Some of us have a multitude of other issues and are in all honesty by the rest of societies standards dumb. As an educator you can give us as many stars as you want and tell us how special we are but it doesn't matter if everyone else sees us trying to get them to fit in the square shaped hole. Shove your stars up your ass and help me find a square or two.

I have dyscalculia and not dyslexia. I managed to get my GED; I'd dropped out so I could work, since I didn't live with family. It's extremely depressing living with either one, since we're made out to be stupid or lazy. I've cried so many ugly sobs about this. There are so many limitations... For any of the careers I want to pursue, they all require the ability to pass a statistics class, and I understand the need to take such a class... but the numbers... the formulas and basic arithmetic... I'm totally lost. It's intimidating, flustering and maddening. Let's say I have a 4th grade level understanding in math; I mean, maybe, since kids are learning more complex arithmetic earlier in schools. I want to be able to take certain classes, shoot for certain courses of study and certain careers... but I can't pass the math portions... and that also complicates any sciences I want to learn, since math is certainly involved... I'm 26, disabled and need to better myself... trouble is, finding a math tutor who could teach an adult with learning disabilities and disabilities in general... not so fun. I'm at a loss. Thanks for this information, the only issue I have is how it keeps saying "he" where it should say "they," as a gender neutral term.

story of my life!! I'm so glad I'm not alone...I'm dyslexic and add...but not so much that I can be diagnosed, but enough that I don't lean "nomally". so being in a class to take classes has been a nemesis for me. I have taken college algebra 3x and failed 3x because all the tutoring isn't helping to understand HOW in the world : a+b=c ...I'm sorry a+b = about : ) I would love to know if there are resources for Adults to succeed. where I live, there is no help, only left behind.

There is a special font for people who are dyslexic - find it on Wikipedia. Some authors suggest using your finger will help guide your eyes. Some authors suggest reading from right to left. Suggested reading - "The Mind's Eye" by Oliver Sacks. Need help with writing? Try using graph paper to help with your focus. Mathematics - learn how to use a Chinese Abacus. Can you count coins but not numbers on paper or computer screen? If so, use pennies, nickels, dimes, and half dollars to help you learn the first two columns on the abacus. Good luck & god bless.

Nice, but... I simply can't stand the cards and the line by line sentence highlighting, it completely disrupts comprehension of the content.

Very informative...i have both dyslexia and dyscalculia. Was diagnosed as an adult. It helped me understand why i struggled so much in school. Also have reading disability and depth perception trouble. I attended a community college and got lots of help--tutoring, extended tests time, oral exams, note takers, (i still took notes) all of this help me do well in college and graduated with honors. It is up to the student--how hard do they want to work, are they motivated to work, it can be very frustrating but stick with it--you can do it!!! Doing very well in my profession and marriage and life in general. Thanks

Franz Josef Neffe

I am dyscalculic, not dyslexic, so I actually had to pause it and move through it manually so I could read it. I could have never finished it otherwise.

Love you my brother, Greg Lecewicz.
