One of the coolest “new” builders out there! Great stuff.
Never heard of them until seeing your video🤙
Wow, I didn't expect you having a singing voice like this... The intro song was so good with a great usage out of this pedal!!!
Every time I hear the Meris, I'm immediately pleased with the level of clarity it has, but then it just feels lackluster like it is just missing something. While the Bigsky MX doesn't feel like it is missing something without that initial Meris clarity, then just sounds buttery amazing. Just my 2 cents on KZread videos, not playing them in person.
You’ve found your voice again. More!
Love it man! This was a great exploration of the pedal and it's functionality, thanks so much for sharing! Fairly sure I heard a little homage to twinkle twinkle towards the end with the verb ;)
We never found out where he ended up. Hope he’s ok.
Dude you have a cool singing voice! You should do more of it. Caspian and mogwai have songs with singing! Could be a cool texture in the band. This pedal is really cool. It sounds like it’d be great in front of a distortion/fuzz for some killer shoegaze tones.
I had the pleasure of rocking the Falling Man by emptyheadeffects recently. 5 reasons why I think you need to check this cracker of a pedal out. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Thnx
Oh this is gonna be good 😊
Can’t go wrong with this ammo
Excited to see it my man, thanks for all the amazing work so far!
You look just like Nick aka empty head effects!!
Le Fender sans aucune hésitions . Après le Fender coûte pratiquement deux fois et demi le prix du Roland . Alors comparons ce qui est comparable
Does the chase bliss onward work well with synths? Let’s find out
At 5.19, I can hear a kick. Is that coming from the Minilogue?
All of the sounds in this video are from the monologue and onward
@@nickreesyt thanks mate, didnt realise you could get a kick going through the Minilogue, suppose so
Incredible all the way around! Its ART
FANTASTIC VIDEO/MUSIC ! Your an artist no doubt. LV it
the demo doesn't do the pedal justice. so rushed and unprepared
If the video was just about those moments when the settings was sweet then it would be a minute long. Part of the fun in my opinion is showing the interaction between the different elements of pedals and how they evolve together to find those sweet spots. Thanks for watching and the feedback, I appreciate it
@@nickreesyt yeah, that was the good thing about your demo! and made me watch it in its entirety without f-forwarding but I wish it was slower then. the secondary functions needed to be used too (like, you engage 'user' position for fade, but never change the actual 'user fade', we don't even get to know what it is) also when we reach sweet spots, it's probably worth spending a bit more time with the setting, and maybe change the synth part a bit but I'm not saying the demo is bad. one of the useful ones for me actually. just think it could be much better, and as there's not enough Onward vids with synths, I probably went too harsh with the original comment take care
Loving these sounds my man! Keep it up!
THANKYOU brother
There are certainly some sweet spots there! The glitch channel works really well on beats and sequences to add a bit of interest. Very cool vid nick.
Yeh I think it’s great in this context Doug. as subtle or significant as you like
Does it come with the US power supply?
I do not know sorry
@@nickreesyt Thank you.
nice video !!! great guitar sound ! is that the yamaha RSP02T or the RSS02T ? Gr, Jan
Thanks my friend. I’m reliably informed but it’s owned that it’s a pro. Really nice sound and great to play
The thermae is such a nice analog delay. The onward is the first chase bliss pedal that does nothing for me. That’s ok though! lol. People seem to like it so I’m probably wrong. At some point ide love to have a mood and thermae. Seems like they’d be a great combo.
No is wrong or right man! As with all new releases there’s always hype but it’s what works for you. Personally my locker is a bit empty of synthesis style pedals, microcosm baklengs mode tensor and more have all been and gone and I like the fact this pretty much does that and nothing else (although of course it’s mega deep). I’m really liking it either as a support act in the background along some stereo movement (like in this video) or standalone as a weird little critter
@@nickreesyt I do want at least one of those kinds of pedals. I’ve been checking out the count to 5 and another one that I can’t think of at the moment. Ha.
@wheresallthezombies yeh they’re all so good but there are definite sound and interface differences
Oooooo man thermae + onward is such a tasty sounding combo ❤❤❤
They work perfectly. I’m going to spend more time tweaking the pitch movement on both to try and get some more interesting frequency shifts
stumbled on this today. i get my big sky and onward both delivered tomorrow. appreciate the vid. solid demo.
Solid will do for me. How have you gotten on with them?
@@nickreesyt It's at home waiting for me. Killing me being at work right now. But I'm sure I'm gonna have a great time tonight!
@joshsolarlovesyou awesome let me know how you get on. If you’re on IG touch base there
Such a great combination and selection! All bases covered from an ambient/post rock point of view, great stuff Nick.
Thanks for the heads up on how amazing this pedal is. Thanks king Doug. Onward is just giving all those moments in the Stereo spread and works just as well as subtle as is does in your face and glitchy
Funny to stumble across this, mine went directly on the board before LVX + BigSky MX (on bass). now I need time to experiment pre versus post-drive set-ups. For complicated reasons I can't put it before my synth pedals but that should work nicely too
Awesome will you let me know how you get on with that?
is your voice meant to be coming from the left?
maybe not 😂
@@nickreesyt okay i was panicking thinking i broke my speaker haha
@SIKKYBEATS haha well thanks for mentioning it I hadn’t picked that up when I edited. Maybe my lav mic has stopped recording in stereo! I’ll check it before I record tomorrow. Thanks my man appreciate you as always
Oh so these are all before Onward?
No I’ve got the onward at the start of the chain
@@nickreesyt Oh cool..
@patrickr6505 I haven’t tried it at the end of a chain but logically in my head it’s a ‘stick it near the start’ sort of vibe
@@nickreesyt Yea a lot of people have said that..
I recommend stacking prismatic wall into onward as well 🎉
I haven’t got in ye but would love to hear that
Great demos.👏🏻👋🏼 Is the reaction better than EHX SuperEgo +?
I was say so yes. Huge thanks for watching
Does the pedal do modulation effects without delay?
It most certainly does. If you go through my LVX playlist you will see plenty of examples of this. Let me know if I can help
@@nickreesyt will do. thanks for the reply. Subbed
Thanks Dan

Really interesting video. I am always put off by screens but you make it look so easy! 😂
You can compare clean on 100 amps & get similar sounds. The real test is an amp's natural overdrive clipping & gain structure. The BC like all SS amps sounds unnaturally crispy & compressed as you increase gain. Theyre passable at low volumes but louder they sound limited & extremely present which reduces dynamics.
I sold mine last year and ive regreted it and im about to head out and pick up one again. granted i dont have an expansive pedalboard to replicate some of its features, in fact i only have a couple of pedals as i am not a guitarist mainly but like to doodle. other people have mentioned it here very well: there is something almost meditative and theraputic about it and i loved playing some lil melodies into it and just living wtithin the ambience
I feel this. it really is a great pedal.
It's somewhat funny to watch. 12 pedals on the board 😂 you definitely escaped the g.a.s ?
Haha it’s all relative
Oh yea, especially when they are super in depth like those pedals.
Absolutely thanks for watching and commenting my friend
Your past intros are fine, but this one stood out. Really nice work. Keep having fun with it! It shows.
Really appreciate this comment buddy. if I had the time I would flesh them all out and I would defo have fun doing it. Thanks for the time and comment
mhhh, it is a littel expensive for what it does, don't you think?
All depends on your point of view I think it’s a really subjective conversational point
@@nickreesyt yeah, most conversations are subjective. I asked for a subjective opinion. What is this answer bro :D
@@tokiboi6777 haha touché. what I mean is, if you don’t value what this pedal does for the cost then yeh it’s too expensive. but it’s like buying a volume pedal for $300. Use the volume pot. Or buying a fifth overdrive or fizz pedal. Plus we all have different amounts of disposable income to spend on these things. So personally no I don’t think it’s expensive for the huge array of stuff this pedal does of which there are loads of great pedals out there showing you that. If you want something in your rig that can take apart and reassemble Inout then this pedal does it as well if not better than anything I’ve played before.
@@nickreesyt Ok, for context: I do have a Mood Mk2, a Gen Loss Mk2, a Lossy, a Reverse C, a Microcosm, some pladask elektrisk pedals. I do enjoy the freeze side of the onward a lot, but listening through all these demos I am getting the feeling that is still quite limited and not so musical as some people would like it to be for 470.
@tokiboi6777 cool. So I traded my mood mk2 for it. I don’t regret that decision. I find it both fairly simple to understand yet really deep at the same time. if you haven’t yet I’d recommend watching mark johnstons deep dive
Fascinating video Nick, even though I won't buy either, this was engrossing. Cheers!
I think your reverb is sorted Doug
Holy shit! You're on fire my man. Bloody fabulous .
Call the emergency services!!!!!!!
the amount of tweakability is why i dont want the two meris pedals. they sound great, but i know ide spend more time tweaking than i would playing guitar.
A fair point and I think a major consideration
Wow, beautiful intro!
Ah I appreciate that thanks a lot this is one my favourite intros so far I think
That intro track sounded wild.
Ah thankyou my man I really like it myself
Sounds great. Brilliant playing.
Paul where have you been! Thanks my man
Ooooh la la.
Yes and other French things too
It’s a headbanger. R says “Nick is borrowing Grandad’s guitar”
Haha clever lad
Are delay and reverb all the effects and pedals you need? Well I used the great pedals from Meris to bring this intro track to life and walk you through the sounds involved. Let me know your thoughts below
3 comments: 1. You might be at ease with the bigsky because you used the original so long. 2. You don’t have to do much with the MercuryX to get great sounds. Go to a blank preset, choose a reverb structure using C2 (which is the right knob under the graphics menu), and use the other knobs to adjust sounds without ever getting into anything deeper. The pedal can be so deep it is easy to overlook how to keep it simple. 3. prEditor will be a game changer for MercuryX. It made editing the LVX so easy. I don’t even touch the LVX pedal now-I do everything with prEditor. I can do in 1 minute what took me 10 on the pedal. So easy to review parameters in seconds. I could go on. Not sure if you might have guessed already, but I have made my pick . . .
Thanks for watching and commenting. Great to hear your thoughts. I’m ease with both the pedals, I’ve owned the LVX and Mercury x since release but yeh defo my tenure with the original bigsky overshadows that. Both amazing pedals, it really is a great time to be a player we are spoilt with choice aren’t we
£700. Yikes.
Yeh not cheap
So many Xes.
