Out Of Office Camping

Out Of Office Camping

We're Mark & Teresa. We've always found that getting outside and connecting with nature is a great way to enjoy life. Our camping trips allow us to do just that along with meeting the nicest folks who share the same passion for the outdoors as we do.

Kicking around in our purpose built adventure rig, our 2019 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 with our GFC (Go Fast Camper) #1919 and occasionally in our 1999 Coleman popup with our 2005 Ford F350 4x4 Dually. Teresa also enjoys camping in her 2010 Kia Soul (the Soulverlander) which we converted into her own little adventure rig. We hope you join us in our travels as we share our builds (camper trailer and vehicle mods), pics, tips & hacks!

When we aren't camping Mark is a certified stone mason specializing in dry stone construction with his company Rockin Walls and Teresa runs her own non-profit (Calm Acres) from our horse farm to help people with special needs.

Let's go!

    I'm confused by your comment. Please tell me you're joking, right? I really find the ProCarpenter Lefty/Righty amzn.to/3LjhYuw great to work with since you can read it from both sides. I also prefer to see all the smallest numbers since most tape measures don't have them. Not to mention, when I don't have my readers, I can remember the #. Plus, since I'm dyslexic it really helps me be better at my math. So if this is your reason not to take my advice, you should simply go with what works for you! - Mark

    Definitely some super fun small curve roads. The COBB cooker is super cool. Little to big for our camp rig. This was why we went with a Lodge Cast Iron Dutch Oven. It's not as large in size and just a hair less weight. Not by much LOL. We will say we have enjoyed a great deal of tasty chicken from Brian's cooking. -M

    You may be right, or this is a reflection from the sky light on the fit kit. Definitely keep in mind, like he said, this is just a prototype, not a production unit. Tim said they received this to give feedback to AluCab and work out all the bugs with the add ons. Really wild setup. I don't think a lot of folks understand what you pointed out. I believe it is the fit kit to attach the tent to the cap. What's so amazing is that you have a truck cap, a tent, or a combo of the cap and tent together. Lots of options or the ability to mic match and the resale market will be just as amazing. Since it's not a one and done unit that only fits model Z truck...etc. really wild. This family model was amazing how much room it has. Still not as fast to set up or shut down as a traditional wedge tent. Thanks for the comment and watching! -Mark

    Does the water freeze in winter and is there a setup to get hot water with this.

  • @OutOfOfficeCamping
    @OutOfOfficeCamping27 күн бұрын

    I have no idea. I'm sure it would freeze. The only way I see getting hot water is with a third-party water shower pump system. I believe this is nothing more than just one big water tank. Great question! This is why we carry portable water tanks. We prefer winter camping so we can simply carry our water in our cab until we get to our destination. Then we move our tanks to an area, which we are heating with our diesel heater. I'm sure if you have a large power source one could easly attach 12 volt heating pads or even a water bubbler. -Mark

You can buy a truck cap, or just a Roof Top Tent, and / or buy a fit kit and put them together, and now you have a truck cap camper. But wait, there's more! • @OutOfOfficeCamping
    @OutOfOfficeCamping2 ай бұрын

    Hey John, I definitely think that would work without any problems. I've gotten really good at counting with the remote. I now know how many clicks to get to each color group. 🤣 Of course, what would be really cool is if you could buy an extension cable which you could just connect and go. Maybe they do, and I never looked. 🙂 But one other thing you got me thinking about, which I didn't mention, was powerstations and DC ports. Not all are created equal. So someone might buy a diesel heater to get a code only to find out that the amps off the DC port is not strong enough. So, it's definitely worth the mention. I saw a bunch of YT creators this winter getting 8K units only to be left in the cold. I'm not sure why they didn't do a drive camp night? Always good to test your system prior to using them for the first time. 🤣 Just like you did with your Hcalory heater.

  • @larrywade9041
    @larrywade90412 ай бұрын

    Hi Mark, Thank you for the very useful information. I thought about a diesel heater but for no more than we get to go camping in a year, it isn't worth it for us. We always go to the same campground (within 25 min.from home) which has electric hook-up. If it get's a little chilly, we have an electric heater to take care of the chill. The camper is also set-up with propane service. We have a 2002 Coleman/Fleetwood Bayside pop-up that is close to pristine condition. It's always stored in my shop which has heat in the winter. I really enjoy your camping videos as you go to some remote area's. Keep up the good work. Have a great day! Cheers!! Illinois

(Just more than a few) I'll be mixing the camping videos in, I promise! When we would camp at State Parks with our 1999 Coleman Utah and hook-ups, we used our MICA heater. amzn.to/3Uz3ECe You get a very nice heat which is dry. It also takes the moisture out of the air. It heats up faster than other options, i.e., propane heater in camper. Safe to walk around, and we can use it in our home when not camping without the worries of a cat getting hurt. Wow guys; you are out doing yourselves. Another great video. That's just the type of group that I would like to hang with. Although I don't have that type of vehicle to do it in. Keep the videos coming my friends! Have an awesome day! Cheers!!! Illinois, USA

    Thank you again, Larry, for watching. I tried again to really match the music to the mood. We're glad you liked it. I'm still playing catch up as you can see on camping videos 🤣. We do have a bunch of product installs and other stuff I have to get up. So don't worry sit tight more camping content is read and waiting to be edited. Yes, this was an amazing group. Chris has introduced us to the nicest folks. Most of them he meet at Mid Atlantic Overland Festival hosted by Main Line Overland in PA. We'll be there Aug 8-11, 2024! We got you covered on the vehicle. Just enjoy and come along with us. ‐M

    I have the exact same car so finding this was… perfect. What are the dimensions of the back seat and trunk space after removing the seats? The area of the boards you bought at least

    Hi! I'm so happy I have inspired others to try this. I promise you will not be disappointed. The overall sizes are 64" length, 42" +/- wide, 36" +/- height. Removing the rear seat gave us the extra headroom. Not to mention the weight savings. Thank you for watching! ~Teresa

    @@OutOfOfficeCamping hi! So I finished the boards and wrapped them completely in carpet. I used the door hinge method for storage and reclining and I gotta say it turned out pretty well! My Kia soul is electric and I also incorporated a solar panel which is mounted using a roof rack. This charges a generator that powers a mini dryer, fridge, freezer, plug in induction stove, and car charging. I have a water tank with an air pump that creates water pressure, a filtration system, and a stick that heats the water to my desired temperature. I just refill the tank with river water! This really helped me create storage and space to sleep. My only expenses now are car insurance (working on getting a legal car insurance exemption using an emergency fund,) and local+organic foods. Just gotta food prep once a week to keep my Tupperware containers full for when im not near civilization!

    Man, it warms my heart a bit to see myself so cheery. That was a nice camp site. I didn't know you couldn't find Middleswarth potato chips in Maryland. I'll make a mental note of that *wink*.

    We're so happy you made it out. That was a good time. As you can see my awning was a epic fail. Good thing I spent so much time setting it up.😂 All good now with my new set up. More time around a camp fire less time setting up camp. Thank you for gathering up all the fire wood as you can see we made good use of it! I really wish I would have got some video of your old school Pie Maker. Next time! We really enjoied your company and look forward to traveling with you again soon. ☺️ -M

The next one will be us camping in winter on top of a mountain with others. I can't remember what footage I took. I hope I have what I need to do another fun one.

    lol my wife says the same thing to me -Tell me when your filming so I dont mess up your shot! haha Great trip, no matter the weather it looked like a great time! Those portable living rooms are awesome especially for when the weather isnt great to cook and hang out in! The coleman oven looks like it worked great! I'm debating on whether to add one to our camp kitchen, how have you guys been liking yours? Great video Mark & Teresa!

    Thank you, Kaden, for watching! I keep thinking I need to buy one of those Action 🎬 on Amazon to help Teresa when it comes time for filming. I just need to give her a camera. Now she has her own camp rig might be in the cards. Yes, we have really enjoyed having our hub tent. I wish we actually had a 10x10 be a little nice to travel with, weight wise, when I put it upon the roof. The 12x12 is great with other plenty of room for cooking and sitting. You definitely need to buy a Coleman oven (link in description... LOL). Heck, I'm surprised with the cooking method you have, that this one is missing in your lineup. Look on FB marketplace first. Great for cooking cookies and biscuits, but best of all, warming up food. We had Thanksgiving left overs one year, and we used one of the round glass pie dishes Pyrex. Worked so well. Nothing does as good as this for re-heating food. We also like it for Tombstone pizza. 3 years I'd buy it all over again. You won't be disappointed, I promise! Thank you again for watching.

    You can soulander without removing the seats and adding all that heavy wood the seats fold down and you can easily put a matt inside and sleep

  • @OutOfOfficeCamping
    @OutOfOfficeCamping2 ай бұрын

    Hello Jack, Yes, you sure can! I slept in 2012 Kia Soul a few times. It wasn't super conformable since the seat doesn't exactly fold flat. For Teresa, this setup works the best for her since she never needs the rear seat. By removing it, she has a completely flat space great for when she goes to the feed store to pick bags of sawdust and horse feed. Also, you may have missed it in the video, but the seat and plateform weight the same, so no weight was added. This was a complete wash. She also gains head room and storage space. For vehicle camping, this is a better solution than keeping the seats in for her. She has really enjoyed owning her KIA Soul for over 14 years. Happy Camping! Thanks for watching! Mark

    Thank you, Larry. I really enjoy trying new ways to tell a story. This one was definitely different, and I really had a great time picking the music to match the feelings of the weather. We, too, like showing our cooking. Seems like we just sit around and eat all day. LoL. Thank you again for following along and the comment plus giving me some wonderful feedback. I'm working to get caught up on all our camping content. There is plenty more to come mixed with a bunch of projects and builds. So sit tight as we mix it up!
