Working to retire, retiring to sail! With a countdown for retirement, we are teaching ourselves how to sail, how to work on a boat, how to chart and navigate, how to budget for an early retirement, and how to create digital content. We have raised our family, established our careers, and experienced both great fortune and tragedy together. Now we just want to live in the moment with family, adventure, and friends. Working towards our dream of sailing, allows us to escape from the stress of the rat race and from the grief of caring for a loved one who suffers from mental illness. Exploring and learning around our own passion keeps us focused on living our own lives and maintaining a healthy approach to caregiving. As we strive to keep our hopes and dreams alive, we will one day be able to sail off into the mystic.

Congratulations on both the new grand baby and your new boat. Another Australian subscriber from Port Stephens look forward to seeing your adventures
Congrats on your new grandbaby 🎉
Loved the episode! Boat looks beautiful below deck. Really enjoyed the banter from a long married couple. You clearly are in sync. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for the feedback … there is so much we don’t catch on video and we keep saying why weren’t we recording that, lol
Congrats to being grandparents. I see you have recently started this channel. Perfect! We have a lot in common, Boats! I want to congratulate on the Irwin. They make a beautiful interior , but I heard a lot of negative in there offshore sailing. Lady K u tube channels. He says it best about Irwin’s. But you will be the ones to judge her at best. Our sailboat is a motor sailer, another design in blue water sailing. 1970 and custom built. Scared us a lot on our maiden voyage, 1200 miles. Not the brightest thing to do. So can’t wait to see your humble beginnings, I can learn as you learn! 😎⚓️⛵️
I have seen Lady K’s review of the Irwin and would agree with him if he were talking about the smaller boats Irwin put out like the Citation. However the 43 MKIII CC is very much designed for smooth sailing over rough seas and long distance. The very thick fiberglass hull, fin keel 26,000lbs displacement (fora 43’ ) and the 7000 lbs ballast all culminate to a hearty, strong and reliable ocean crossing vessel. Not to mention the sail area to displacement ratio of 17:74 and the Comfort ratio of 32:35. Sure this Irwin might have a slower hull speed to a Beneteau of the same size, but it is MUCH smoother and a stronger hull. 105 gallons of fuel and 180 gallons of fresh water. I think Lady K may have not been complete in their review. The 43 , 52 , 75, and 72 are all great ocean crossing vessels. Thanks for your response and I look forward to hearing more about your vessel and that first voyage. How did that go? any problems?
@@sailingintothemystic36 I stand corrected and I can’t say enough about a sailor who does his homework to which you have. I personally like the bigger Irwin’s , their cabin layouts are comfortable and spacious. You on west coast, us on east coast, LI, NY & Deal Island MD, we are also power boat owners, hoping to do the Great Loop, we have accomplished 1200 + miles already. Not sure if our sailboat is going to cross oceans, she can do it , but us, upper 60’s, will see. Please take no offense in my comment, it’s nice to see other channels that can offer us some guidance and sailing experiences! 😎👍⚓️⛵️
No offense taken at all! Love the learning as much as you!!😊
Good luck to you guys! We sail our Catalina 34 out of Racine, WI - Lake Michigan.
Always wondered what it is like to sail on Lake Michigan!
@@sailingintothemystic36 It's beautiful, just no salt :) kzread.info/dash/bejne/k32j0LxuYMnYlJc.htmlsi=y4qQ_RIX85cQv4VM

Holy cow!!! I thought you bought a basically new, ready-to-sail boat! That's some work! Good job. Tow that thing to the high school! 🤣
Well stay tuned, there’s more to the story that gets explained in the next episode about boat.
I'm impressed with your editing skills! The video is a lot of fun
Thanks
The end made me tear up 🥲
Id replace that Atomic with a Beta Marine deisel. Great luck having a buddy with a trailer.
Yes I agree that would be best if I had the money. Keep watching, I later go into the Atomic 4 and get it going pretty well.
Congrats on a nice little boat. You definately have your work cut out for you but she's got good bones.
