Welcome to the Nu-Trix the Synth guy KZread Channel. You will find mostly tips and tricks about Synthesizer test and reviews as well as music production app for the iPad.
I have been creating electronic music since the 90's on top of teaching electronic music at the school Musitechnic in Montreal since 1995. I just enjoy testing new software and gear for music making. Take the time to look around the channel, ask questions and also check out my nu-trix.com web site for more tips and tricks.
Cheers!

very valuable tutorial and deep dive. Do more of these Vintage Vault synths. Good call on the Duran Duran song . Spot on. Great video for it too. Ahh the 80's so much bombast and fun! Thanks for this and your other content.
Did UVI update it for the ipad as you requested at the end of this video? Would be cool indeed for the faders and pots.
I no fan of Air since it once destroyed my windows because when installing some synth it installed an old pace version. Maybe they fixed it but since that day I don't by anything from that company. I have so many other options in fx that I don't need them. The Ui also looks bit meeh
Compared to the free essentials by Kilohearts or the free fx bundle by Melda, which can be upgraded for 49,- to full functionality, this Air bundle seems a bit overpriced even on intro sale for 79,- with not bringing more to the table, rather less.
I don't like the idea of dedicating so many gigabytes to a single instrument. It seems good to me to know that it exists so as not to buy, it is always good to be informed thanks to this channel.
This is similar to Unify which plays any VST
Just picked up a real 201 for $950 from Craigslist in good condition. Just need to replace the reverb tank and bearings
Why is this not in stereo?
@@davebassP5 I had a recording problem.
Audiomaster pro is an AU3 mastering app but I prefer Grand Finale 2 as it has the right mix of preset and individual effect control - Audiomaster pro is mostly preset (just 6 band eq available, as a separate option to all the presets. I like to start with a preset then make some individual adjustments.
So you play and hold a note, move a control, and nothing happens till you retrigger that note? How shite is that? Coded by idiots.
I see it more as a sample based engine that provide lots of options to adapt the provided sound bank. (But that is just me) (in the docs it says that the oscillators are wavetable based. it might by why it reacts like that?
I ask honestly, was it really necessary and innovative to create this software?
Great stuff !
How do you know it's based on ACB? I can't find that information anywhere else.
I did have a chat with the Roland team.
@@Nu-trix Ok I see. Nice to see ACB move beyond synths and drum machines, it's really good.
great demonstration
a very JMJ sound to that beast
Tried Roland Cloud but many users including myself had constant issues with online authentication. Wouldn't even work half the time. Having an Arturia midi keyboard, getting V Collection 8 for dirt cheap, and the file compression Arturia uses so the software takes up little space but still has high quality audio, made it an easy choice. If I went with another bundle like Komplete, I would have had to buy an external hdd for my macbook. Havent tried UVI, but I have their Steinway Model D piano plugin and it sounds awesome, and much better than Arturia and Logic Pro's pianos.
Thank you for all your great content, keep the Gaia 2 vids coming they are so helpful.
I can answer your query on "How does it all work"? Intermittently. Many times upgrades(?) cause problems. When all works, it's great.🤔
🤩🤩👏👏👏👏👏👏
I’ve figured it out…. To get it to chain properly, you need to make 2 bar patterns with 1st part and 2nd part rather than using A&B.
It doesn’t play A & B it plays A, A, B, B. Is there a way to play A&B on pattern one, then change to pattern 2 A&B? I can only get it to play the first bar on each then the second bar on each, which is pretty useless.
The real question I have heard no one ask is how they actually achieve ACB. Since they are modeling circuits down to the component level, I will assume they are using FPGAs. I want someone to crack open one of the Synths to see what brand FPGA and model they are using.
It's a shame can't see the delay times on each of the tape heads the plugin is not complete without it
Very useful, thanks
That's such a metronomy type beat, I really dig it. I didn't even know they put out the space echo vst, so I grabbed it immediately
Ive had this plugin since the week it came out and picked out all the best presets for my projects.Have yet to use a beat in my DAW, I'm sure it will be really fun.🤖♥️📼
I've been wishing for a new emulation. The existing plugins are good, but I find they are hard to dial in. The Tr5 space echo plugin is my favourite, but there are too many extra controls for my liking, I don't have time to tweak all of those
I had an OB-1 that I loved dearly, but it got stolen. It sounded great and had the best pitch bend lever of any synth I’ve played. It had some trouble with the filter breaking down a couple of times though, so I had to get it fixed by the probably last synth repair guy in town. The sound of this GF version is very true to the original when it comes to oscillators and filter. I believe I might have to buy it, just for nostalgic reasons 🙂
Has a lot of options, I think it sounds good. No other way to get it without a subscription though I take it? Thats a no from me, but cool plugin. Edit: Should not have commented until the end, can be bought in a month.
It will be available in August to buy or rent .
I don’t think I need even more sound options but must admit, this one sounds very nice.
Some good explanations here. Thanks for that.
Are you familiar with the AudioThing version? That seemed like one of the best … I wonder how this ACB version will be judged alongside it … I’ve been quite impressed with ACB so far … I still use several original RE- units … It’s so weird seeing those sounds just ‘coming from a digital screen’ … ☺️ Thanks for the news flash! Cheers!
Do you mean the audiothing tape suite? I did a review about it. It’s a lot different: 4 different plugins dedicated to specific effect, all inspired by the space echo. But it’s not intended to be an acurate emulation of the original device.

@@Nu-trix No, AudioThing Outer Space.
^ Yes, I meant the Outer Space! 👍🏼
@@Nu-trix i’ll take that as a ‘no’ … ? 🙂
Is Play sufficient for most or is Pro a necessary upgrade? Like is upgrading really just trying to have as many sounds as possible?
Great video with nice gooey sounds! 🙂
Sweeeeet!!!!
Ive actually had a reel to reel. My orig setup: 1 gtr. I r&r 1 microphone 1 tape deck. 1 4 chan stereo mixer. And used the r/r with all those nifty f.x. [!!]
Thanks! Any idea if it’s MPE compatible?
This sounds amazing nice demo I might buy this as it has so much potential.
Muito bom nano - continue...
You are calling for VOCODING. Yes, there is in Bleass VOICES, but it is more expensive… :-)
As I listened to the arp on this, i imagined just how easy it would have been to be a superstar with these tools in the 70's Haha😁 🎶🎹🎶Play On
I love Pigments for sound design however, I still need the immediacy of hardware to compliment.🤔🎶🎹🎶Play On
iv been trying to find info on where the voice/vocoder blend parameter is. I could be wrong but when i first bought it years ago i could have sworn i was able to chose how much of my voice came through for even more legibility in the voice.
Thanks for covering the VST side of the Minifreak in more detail! There aren't enough videos covering this the way you have. Most of them focus om the Hardware Unit (which of course is fine if you have the hardware ;)).
Honestly this has been the best demo of scissor hands I’ve seen on KZread. No offense to everyone else but your examples are more intuitive 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks
Great video, man! For anyone wondering, UVI would use more RAM since its using original recorded samples as compare to others cuz they use CPU. Similar to kontakt instruments.
4:10 *sits up in chair after side-chain routing works - great review!
Roland legendary sounds
Seems like a nice toolkit. Thx, Nu-Trix.
Ooh. Fun!
Great video. Thanks for comparing both. Very helpful, as I just bought the Roland Go:Mixer Pro-X, and have now decided to order the Go LiveCast, as well. I’m looking forward to using the Pro-X for my music live streaming, and the LiveCast for my online tutoring business.
