The issue here is that you’ve used metal framing. It needs to be wood. All your ‘aluminum ‘ will conduct the heat away to the surroundings.

At least someone finally actually answered the basic question. However, I wish an engineer would get into the technical specifics of heat generated per volume of air vs time at how many lumens vs outside temp.

Yes. That is why they insulate every solar heater.

Thank you for sharing your project and the good information. I saw other builds. Some have insulated box, and some don't. None achieved temperature rise like yours. They all have fans. Fan might move air too quickly from inlet to outlet therefore not give the sun enough time to heat it up as much as possibly can before blowing it into the room again.

Dangerous to use wood to build solar collectors. Over time the wood gets dried out and can self-combust. The air intake needs to be from inside the house.

Am I the only one who can see that rewarding this sort of behaviour is actually harmful to the child. I feel so sorry for this little girl, she clearly knows nothing about basic right and wrong, I would hate to see her end up in prison and pregnant by the time she reaches her teens. I am sorry but just recently I am seeing more and more snowflake parenting going on and its really not helping the children in these situations. While this girl is obviously adoreable, her parents could do with some parenting classes to teach them about boundaries because its clear this child has none. I love children and have some of my own, and I can see the dangers here. I am worried about this child and worried more by how all these people here are encouraging this behaviour. Really? I expect you will all hate me now but if thats the case so be it. Its so clear to see whats going wrong with society today. :(

My daughter danced for 12 years starting aged 3. I miss those recitals, she's 43 now. Those were the good old days. I miss them so much it was so fun. 🥲 Enjoy when you kids are little mommas because it doesn't last long.

Are you still using them? What would happen if you built and installed enough of them to cover your south wall? And the damper is the next issue.

That is what I was thinking. Instead of just a box to utilize the sun's rays, use the whole south wall like a greenhouse. It probably should be made so it can be taken down in the spring and put up in the fall, and somehow protect the south wall from getting to hot, depending on the type of siding on the south side. It would bring in a lot more total heat than just a single box for heat.
