Great effort but if you slow it down to the slowest speed 0.25 you’ll notice a lot of mistakes - only saying this because it will help you not me - if you want to perform this piece well you have to be self critical and analytical- it’s hard to get rid of mistakes once committed to muscle memory- and as this is played so fast you may not even notice the mistakes but they will become apparent later on if not addressed- think of it as an in depth way of checking your own standards - it will enable you to sharpen up what is already an impressive attempt 👍🏻🥃

If U watch some famous pianists they don't play exactly the sheet music. If U just listen there are always more notes in the sheet music, next to the melody what you don't need, u never will play this fast and comfortable if U believe in teachers dogmas to play all the notes, and just that. Artistry starts when u are dare to leave it, good luck

Hi, I saw that you wrote in an A instead of a B at the Accelerando at the end of the cadenza. I was wondering if this B is a misprint in scores or if you separately chose to keep it out because it makes no sense (which I agree with you on)

Very tough piece! In fact that's the piano masterpiece of all time - the endboss. If you train really hard, especially other pieces, I would say you are at least 5 to 7 years away to reach the goal. From the musical point of view, I would even double it. You would need a very good mentor, to ever reach the musical understanding. This should not discourage you, but encourage you that there is a goal that can be reached and many other goals will be reached on the journey. If we talk about playing Rach3 it can only be viewed from a professional point of view. Without professionalism it's like only hammering keys without any purpose and meaning. A hobby climber should never attemp to climb mount everest since many professionals don't even manage to do it. Keep on going!

I like it! I'm working on it right now as well. You're so close so you'll get it for sure. I love watching people practice. It humanizes all of us. It helps to realize all the hard work that goes into getting it. Then it rolls off your fingers like it's easy. What a feeling that is. Best of luck.

I just watched one video and im now a fan. I dont think people realize how important practice videos are, I’ve always been scared of big pieces like concerto (especially Rachma) even if these are the pieces that made me want to start practicing piano (I’m an adult sort of beginner). I’ve search for a long time for rehearsal videos on youtube cause it helps me break down the piece in my head (by looking at it being played without the orchestra part, and much slower than the original opus). Most recording available on youtube are Live ‘Perfect’ ones that are good for the public ears (cause the whole pack -sound, scenery..- is enchanting) but it makes me personally feel like it’s an inaccessible impossible piece because of its perfect appearance. Thank you for your wonderful playing, and more importantly for those little mistakes here and there, for the camera angle, the piano sheet so we can follow. It sure demanded some editing work and i appreciate that as a fellow pianist. Bravissimo 👏

@nero&piano I'm practicing this for some time and some parts show similarities with your playing. Very brave of you to share the process with us, because I've notices for myself when I try to record it, my playing is getting worse and I get frustrated with every wrong note. How long have you been playing piano?

I learned the first movement to this with the ossia cadenza 20 years ago I think it took me nearly a year before I performed it plus it’s a piece you have to continue to play through or you will lose it but it grows and gets better with time
