I miss going to the drags with my dad after losing him to a house fire last year. He got me into cars, racing and mechanics and I can never thank him enough for making me self sufficient and able to fix most automotive troubles (I can't do transmissions or electrical but I'm learning those on my own now). RIP dad, say hello to Scott Kalitta for me....

It’s a beautiful thing ! The jet cars and dragsters are amazing. Does Great Britain 🇬🇧have any full sized Peterbuilt or Kenworth jet trucks ? The triple jet engine truck called “Shockwave” driven by Les Shockley is the most mind boggling spectacle I’ve ever seen make a quarter mile pass here 🇺🇸 ! 😳

Its never good seeing someone hit the wall , i remember my son talking to a man who was running a bussa in the pits next to us , my lad watched that guy get cartedd off in the ambulance and then saw the Pod crew come to his pit area to secure it all for him ,my lad thought the worse and kept asking if he'll be ok My son had a face of relief when he found out the guy only suffered a minor break and a few bruises

What caused the car to crash?
I go to Santa pod a lot my grandad is John bean and he lost traction because of the power output on the track
I would suggest loss of traction looks most likely, possibly as a further power boost was applied. Track prep may also be a factor.
If loss of traction is the cause for the accident, I don’t feel like the lack of proper track maintenance has anything to do with it. The higher powered cars typically rely on forced induction, nitrous oxide injection or both for additional power enhancement that’s increased in stages after the car leaves the starting line. This accident happened at a point when maximum power would typically be applied during the run which will sometimes simply exceed the traction limitations of the tires being used resulting in a sudden change of direction. Another possibility is a mechanical failure of one of the many chassis components that are subjected to high loads during a run. Even the best components have a breaking point under extreme load conditions. The best news at this point is that the driver wasn’t seriously injured. Unfortunately I’ve never attended a race at the impressive Santa Pod venue because I live in the States. But I enjoy their streaming TV coverage which is often delayed so their efficient track crew can clean up after an incident OR do regular track preparation which includes applying traction compound for optimum conditions during competition. They deserve a pat on the back for their dedication to track safety 🏁🏁🏁

I went to Winter Nationals in Suffolk VA in the 70s. I had a pit pass. When the top fuelers let-r-rip the surrounding pine trees would ring like giant tuning forks. Most awesome thing i had ever seen/heard.
The nickname for Nitro is “Pop”. And you can sure hear it when an engine changes from methanol to nitro!
