Je ne me laisse pas de l'écouter 😮

Legend
Awesome to see. Back in the days where there where many regiments. Same here in Denmark. We had around 10 infantry regiments in 1977, now we have 2, the foot guards and a newly rebuildt light infantry.
Hallo ! Very nice tunes and fantastic playing! I dont know if you can help but i will try. A long time ago and i cannot say for sure when, it must have been between !976 and 1980 but even that is not sure I saw on tv pipe bands playing in a stadium. They started really slow and were getting faster til they were playing reels and they were runnig at the same time! I even dont know wich stadium this has been or in wich country this was. I know this is not a lot and its a long time ago but does anybody knows anything about it and can give me a hint whre I can find a recording or anything of that kind? Best whishes from the harz mountains Uwe
We are not sure of the unit who runs and plays at the same tine would be. The Italian light infantry called the Bersaglieri are a great sight as they run and play a variety of trumpets and horns. The fastest pace in the British Army is 140 to the minute, which the bands of the Light Division played during the period you mentioned.
Give us back our old regiments!
Fantastic to see this !!!!
Auld good sound. The real thrill of the massed pipe bands.
If you had told me that day that in the not to distant future all the regiments on parade would be relegated to the history books l would have laughed. Those days will never come again, it's still unpalatable to this day what was done in the name of cost savings.
Minted I got Meade’s 1863 and the man got wed in he died in 1916 a general 🤔🙀🏴✅🤙
Minted 😮
Reconnaissance Battalion of 51st Highland Division was the 2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry.
I am in my 70s. I am a mix of every country in western Europe not especially Scotland . I live in Arizona, USA all my life never went any where bagpipes were common. But when I first heard bagpipes I was enthralled and have been ever since. This program says north America has its own pipers. Too late for me to attend in person but God bless pipers wherever they are.
I was in black watch so my dad when he joined ww11 he was in barracks Perth before they go out on friday night had an inspection bye the rsm with a mirror on a pole to see if they were wearing any thing under neath
Absolute respect for the bravery shown by these men and Harold the Jock of course. From a former member of G Coy 1/51
Playing Naill chanter here and Naill pipes, the finest technique ever on pipes
Good stuff aye my dad was a Commando 2/6 independent Purple Devils the Japanese named them after Kiapit 1943. God Bless brothers and sisters
Unless I missed it, I would have thought that they would have mentioned the Piper of the Loos Daniel Laidlaw VC The King's Own Scottish Borderers and Piper James (Jimmy) Richardson VC of the 16th (Canadian) Scottish Battalion CEF. It is a a great documentary, nonetheless. Finally visiting Scotland in August.
We are glad you enjoyed the film. The two pipers you named are mentioned in the first two films of the series: Instrument of War Part One and Two. You can watch them on pipers ply channel as Bagpipes in Wars Part 1 & 2. Originally the story was a trilogy.
@@pipersplay Thanks for the information. I will check them out.
The pipes make my old heart sing❤

I learned this tune on the pipes.
Isla St Clair song when the pipers play I sang for my father when he was dying I think gave him some comfort
My late Father had a business connection to the Pipes (long story) that resulted in sponsoring a Pipe Band. He had a full Kilt and dress jacket, sporran etc. we were 7 kids, and all 3 that married, of the 4 daughters, had the Pipe Band play at our Weddings. We had an excellent Piper play at Dad’s funeral. I LOVE the Pipes, both Highland and Uilleann. We’ve been to Scotland once, but would love to go again. “Oh flower of Scotland - when will we see your like again? 🏴
The High "G" on the Highland Pipes (@11:43 in the video) is also known as the "G" spot.
As a piper it’s reassuring to see that even the elite are fallible!
Thank you for a most Interesting and very well presented video of Uniform History for those famed Regiments. As a veteran (1966 - 1978) from South Africa my Regiment. The First Battalion Transvaal Scottish (now since 1995 the Solomon Mahlangu Regiment) were affiliated to the Atholl Highland Regiment, we wore their tartan, albeit with the unique khaki Tam O` Shanter with Red Hackle, as our connection to the Gordon Highlanders. Our brothers of Second Battalion donned the Glengarry. Both marched to the tune - March of the Atholl Highlanders.
Gordon walker is a friend of mine, his brother Colin taught me the tenor drum,Gordon was the queen’s personal piper

Very Interesting!
De Gaul said that fighting alongside the 51st at St Valerie persuaded him to continue the fight on the allied side .Their sacrifice was not in vain .Had nothing to do with Churchill ,who abandoned them , still took the credit. Most touching for me ,the words of a French civilian in the days after 6th June . "We heard the Pipes .It was the sound of freedom ".
Thank you all for protecting Canada 🇨🇦.
Nice to have all these veterans telling their stories.
